Fanfiction from Identity V :)) focusing on Emily and Joseph now, though
I brushed the strand of hair over my shoulder, and resolved to get a hairtie or bun net that I could use to keep my hair out of my face. Those loose strands were annoying. Naib grimaced, his face twisted with pain.
"If you're done fiddling with those bandages I wouldn't mind getting bandaged anytime soon," he snapped, the strain of hiding his pain evident in the tone of voice he used to convey his impatience. I rolled my eyes as I turned back around, a clean strip of white gauze in my hand and a pair of scissors in the other.
"You know, you wouldn't have a wound if you didn't stupidly shove yourself in front of the photographer like that," I replied, bandaging his arm and attaching it gently to avoid hurting the wound.
Naib winced at the touch. "He was about to hit Vera and I couldn't stand there doing nothing. She was a one hit kill."
"Well at least have the courtesy to get here as fast as possible before you bleed so much," I retorted. "Blood loss can kill you, and I hardly think you need to be reminded of that. Anyway, you can go now. Don't strain your arm for the next two days and you should be fine."
Naib left the room after offering a word of thanks, no doubt to find his Vera. I started packing up my supplies. While my hands were putting bandages back into the cupboard, my mind was preoccupied with their thriving relationship. Naib and Vera were spending a lot of time together lately, and often they could be found in a corner of the Manor's library. Not reading, of course - most survivors don't bother educating themselves on anything other than survival tactics - but probably making out. I had no idea, and frankly, I don't want to know either.
I closed the room's door and walked to my room, my mind still pondering over the 'intricacies' of love. That is, if it actually exists. If you ask Emma, she'll say yes - she and Kreacher have been getting along very well. Most of the survivors are already occupied with a significant partner - and yet i do not see the point of doing so. What is the point of sacrificing yourself to ensure another's survival? Friends can do so too - not just romantic partners. There is virtually no point in relationships of that type. Naib letting himself get hit was nothing but a moment of folly, something completely unavoidable and utterly useless in the long run. Furthermore, Joseph, the new Hunter, has a 25% damage increase, so then even if Vera healed him, Naib would still be a one hit.
So pointless.
Speaking of that twenty five percent damage, Joseph was turning out to be a formidable Hunter - perhaps even above Jack's caliber. His photo world and hit damage made many troubles for me. I would have to take extra time to heal the 25%, which was a complete waste of decoding time.
I reached my room and entered. As always, I set down my supplies in the corner of the counter that holds my books. Medical records line my walls, along with certificates of honour and pictures from my University days. The bell beside my door remains silent, an indication that tonight was going to be quiet.
The owners of the Manor would ring the bell in a survivor's room to call for them to get to a match or room if needed. My bell is frequently rung, owing to the demand for medical help during matches. I seldom kite the hunter during matches though - decoding and healing is much safer. Nobody in their right mind lets a vulnerable doctor save - even when she wants to and is capable of doing so, which is so unfair. Either way, I should settle myself in for a quiet evening. I changed out of my blue short coat and white dress, and decided to pass the time by reading a book or two.
I picked up the book, and flipped the first page over before the bell rang.
