1 Prologue

She needed to keep running. She needed to escape. She needed to hide away. But where could she go? Who could she turn to? There was no one out tonight. The street she was on was deserted. The only people were her and her pursuer. It was a back alley street with no lights. She was using her phone's flashlight to see where she was going. She stopped to catch her breath around the corner of a building. Where she was she didn't know. She glanced around to see the shadow of the person following her. She had since turned her flashlight off.

A few minutes passed. Thinking she was safe, and having caught her breath, she glanced once more around the corner. She froze. A pair of glowing eyes stared at her from the other side. She would have screamed, but her voice caught in her throat. Suddenly, a very large, very hairy hand, wrapped around her neck, pulling her upwards. She struggled with trying to remove the hand from her neck. The monster was strangling her. She could barely breathe, her breath moving fast and shallow. She kicked at it. Her feet managed to connect, but it didn't even phase the creature who continued to glare at her with unblinking eyes. The longer she stared into those golden-brown eyes, the more she felt they showed no malice - only loneliness. She stopped struggling. Her hands dropped to her sides, her vision blurred, and she saw the world turn dark.
