1 Prologue

The sun had set many hours ago, the cold wind was so intense that it caused the branches of the trees to bend.

The clock read around eight at night. Most of the people were in the comfort of their home with their family, enjoying a hot and delicious dinner. All except one man.

His hair already looked gray from stress, several wrinkles were already visible and his eyes showed the fatigue of the years.

The whole place was completely silent, only the impact of his fingers against the old computer keyboard was heard.

Several things were going through her mind at that moment, but only one managed to torment her: a debt. A gigantic debt that he had unfortunately acquired. A debt that now threatened not only her life but also that of her new family. The family he had vowed to defend tooth and nail.

He tried to clear his mind, his time was running out and even though he worked overtime, he couldn't even get a quarter of the money.

Outside the place, precisely in the parking lot, a silver Audi A5 had just parked. The driver got out and walked until he reached the passenger door, opened it, and then with great elegance got out a man of good bearing, perfectly combed hair, impeccable suit, wrist adorned with a luxurious watch and gold bracelet.

He adjusted his bag and began to walk to the entrance of that building with his lackey.

Firm and determined steps began to echo through the corridors. José stopped typing and his body de él tensed as he felt cold metal on the back of his neck. He raised his hands in surrender and turned slowly until he was face to face against his greatest fear of him.

—It's a pleasure to see you again, José.

José's skin prickled and many scenarios in which the ending was not at all pleasant for him appeared in his mind.

He tried to speak, to say something in his defense but it was just babbling, incoherent things, and although he really did try, having a gun pointed between his eyebrows didn't help.

》Your time is up. I have been more patient than usual. If you don't give me what belongs to me right now, everything you love will disappear or perhaps you will disappear — the tone was sharp and cold, just like the gangsters that existed in the movies.

—B-but there's still a week to go —Her voice was shaking and her hands began to sweat from nerves.

A humorless laugh came from the lips of who she considered her executioner. The man began to deny, shaking his head from side to side. With his finger he pointed at the computer and José, he turned slowly and looked at the screen.

Seeing the date, his heart wanted to leave his chest, his pulse quickened and his eyes widened in horror.

How could he have mistaken the date?

In his head he still had a week left but the reality was different, time was up.

—Just give me one more month, I promise I'll get it ...

—Promises, promises and more promises. I'm tired of you asking me for time, I want my money right now— José swallowed hard, he was in a serious situation —Do you have it or not?

—No, but ...—The man snapped his fingers and released the safety on the gun.

—It was nice meeting you ... it wasn't really."

The poor man closed his eyes strongly accepting his fate, his end had come and there was no hope for him.

His family would be left alone, unprotected, vulnerable. He had made a promise to himself this time to take care of his loved ones, he had vowed never to lose anyone again, but he couldn't keep it, not if he was dead.

Several thoughts entered his head and among them was one that might prevent him from getting his head pierced.

—Wait!— He yelled —I know you have problems, that the police are following you closely and maybe you could lose your business —Those words only made the man angrier—I heard that the partners don't agree with you putting your shares in your son's name because they consider him immature and they also don't want it to be in your nephew's name because he's too impulsive. Although he sounds crazy, I have thought of something that can help you a lot.

His interest was piqued immediately. He was so desperate that he would have even heard the idea from a homeless man.

He motioned for her to continue.

»I have the perfect solution to your problems, I know what you can do so that you don't lose absolutely anything. I know exactly what you can do.

—I hear you. Speak before I regret it.

—But I want something—Seeing the smile that took hold of that man's lips, he became more nervous, without a doubt he managed to intimidate.

Still with doubts he kept talking.

»If I can get you to save your company, my debt is paid and you leave me and my family alone.

He he nodded.

—What do you have in mind?.

Still a little scared, he smiled.

—I know someone who can be of use to him, and he is the perfect age."
