26 Cassia? or M?

After the events of breakfast in the Great Hall and the removal of Harry's broom by Professor McGonagall.

Nathaniel returned to his office to correct some of the activities he had given his students before the holidays.

There were rolls and rolls of parchment to be validated.

One in particular had been written by Gryffindor student Hermione Granger. He had asked for one and a half rolls of parchment in class, as that would be the ideal amount for everyone to write down the results of their research.

But the girl actually managed to write a total of four rolls of parchment, covering even more points than required.

This was very different from other students, such as Ronald Weasley, who only achieved the target by adding a few informative drawings to the parchment to take up more space.

Hours passed during the correction.

Until a message arrived.

Requesting a meeting.

Signed M. LF.

Another meeting with her,' he thought of the second personality that shared his body with the sixth year Gryffindor.

-----------------------

[Classroom empty]

Nathaniel went to the place where the message said the meeting would take place.

Inside the room, Cassia was already there.

"Hi Nat," she said with a smile, "you looked at Cassia too long at breakfast. She was alarmed," she scolded him in a false tone of anger.

"Sorry, I can't tell which of you is responsible for the body."

"I was interested to see if the closeness to Harry Potter and his friends came from you or from her," he said, talking about the girl's closeness to our protagonists.

"Don't worry, neither she nor I have any ill intentions towards the boy," she said, becoming serious again. "Cassia is just curious about what's going on around the young man," she explained.

"What about you? What are you interested in?" he asked curiously, for someone who has lived as long as she has, and who has seen almost everything magic suffers from, would be interested in the young man.

"Me?" she smiled as if remembering the past. "You know, I've been at Hogwarts for many years, and one of the wearers of the necklace was very helpful to the boy's mother when she was here at the castle. So I'm just returning the favour."

Nathaniel knew from previous conversations with the other personality that she retained the memories of the previous holders of the artefact, leading her to maintain her attachment or hatred for the people she had known and lived with.

"What about your wish? Any progress?" he asked, changing the subject as she wouldn't harm the castle's students.

During his time following Grindelwald, she was the one who helped him with his first Ritual of the Stars, and although he didn't trust her completely, he had some good conversations with her.

It was in one of these conversations that she finally revealed what she wanted to achieve after so many years and so many bodies she had shared with other women.

What she wanted most was to be able to have her own body again, tired of living like a parasite in borrowed bodies.

"At the time, this ritual seemed like the best idea to ensure that I would always be present in the world of magic! Too bad it didn't work out as planned," she said in a wistful voice, remembering the past.

"But don't worry about me, it's all in the past now," she returned to her cheerful face, "How are you getting on with the teaching job? Well, just like I said?" she asked.

"Interesting to say the least, it seems Hogwarts has a lot of secrets and attracts a lot of trouble," Nathaniel pondered his short time at the castle to answer her question.

"Yes, yes," she was much happier now, "this is Hogwarts for you, it's been like this ever since Salazar took Merlin as his pupil after being jealous of Rowena helping me teach."

This was something Nathaniel knew from their past.

A witch taught by Rowena Corvinal herself, she was truly powerful.

When they first met, he had once challenged her to a duel to impress Gellert, an extremely foolish decision as he now realised.

He lost without offering any resistance to her power, a one-sided massacre.

"Did the notes on the teachers I sent you before school started help?" she asked him about the information she had sent to help him.

"Yes, it gave me a general idea of the school and Dumbledore's intentions," his eyes sparkled with knowledge as he considered some of the actions of his teacher friends and the Headmaster. "Snape's spell notes were also well received," he said, remembering when he had used the spell Snape had created against the werewolves.

"You're welcome," she laughed. "Snape is very stingy! Slytherins like to keep the good things for themselves, pity there is almost nothing to hide from me in this castle." Her laughter filled the empty room.

And Nathaniel knew that her statement was true, as she had been here longer than anyone else, the secrets of the castle were all visible to her.

"Ah! Too bad. Cassia wants to wake up. I have to go now Nat, we'll talk another time," she said ready to leave, "I'll have a mission for you next time," she disappeared into thin air.

"Goodbye, Morgana," he said as he left to return to his activities. And he knew he had to prepare himself, for the missions she gave him would often involve serious risks of death.

'A complicated year,' he sighed.
