1 Freezing Evening

The sky was covered with dark heavy clouds, the snow falls, and the strong wind makes it hard to see, especially in the night. The folks in Arendelle were already tucked in on their beds, covered with thick blankets providing them warmth in the cold weather. Preparing to sleep and hope that the storm will eventually settle down in the morning.

But amidst this snowstorm, a faint cry can be heard. Although it was faint, one can guess the direction where it came from just by looking at where the wind came from. The cry was all too familiar to the mothers in the town and it made them feel worried but was unable to do anything about it.

Meanwhile, a man wearing the Arendelle's Royal Guards uniform can be seen braving the storm while holding a lantern, which gives light to his path, even though it was not that bright because of the storm. Behind this man, was several other people wearing the same clothing as him, following him to the direction where the cry can be heard.

"IS IT NEAR!?" a man, with a large built shouted at the man holding the lantern. Because of his large size, he became the shield from the storm by the others who were following behind him. The said man was not even fazed by the storm and was still walking normally, unlike the others, struggling just to get their feet off the snow after it gets buried in their every step.

"YES! I CAN HEAR IT OVER THERE!" the man holding the lantern answered. His name was Alf, a royal guard of the Arendelle Kingdom who oversaw guarding the gate. The big man who had asked him earlier was Magnus, a good friend of him and part of the hunting team of the royal guard.

The two followed by five others rushed towards the location where they were hearing the sound. The others were just ignoring it at first, but Alf realized that it was weird. The storm was clearly loud and strong, so there was no way that a sound from the town can be heard even here. And because he was a father himself, he immediately identified what the sound was. It was a crying baby, in the middle of a freezing snowstorm.

So, Alf immediately asked for other people to help him find the baby. Arendellian Royal Guards are instilled with kindness during their training. That is why, after learning of the possibility of a baby left behind in the middle of a snowstorm and at risk of dying, many volunteered to set out and find the baby. Five teams were dispatched to look for the baby, although there were still many guards left, the castle still needed to be guarded. Alf and the others can only be away for a short time and they had to go back even if they couldn't find the baby.

Slowly, they made their way towards where Alf can hear the cry was coming from. It didn't take them long until they saw a silhouette of what seems to be a basket placed just beside a lone tree. The violently swaying tree had somewhat provided some protection for the basket, just enough so that it wasn't taken away by the strong gust of wind. Alf hurriedly went towards the basket as the cries of the baby grew stronger, when he arrived at the tree, he was really shocked by what he saw.

The baby did not even have any sort of protection around him, not even a small blanket to provide warmth. Alf immediately took a thick blanket from his bag and wrapped the baby around it. He then turned around to look at Magnus and the others.

He said: "Let's go back."

❄️❄️❄️

Inside one of the rooms in the castle, a slender woman with blue eyes and brown hair stared at the baby inside her cradle. Her face was filled with concern as she gazed at the baby, beside her, was a man. He has short strawberry-blond hair and a pair of emerald-like green eyes. He patted the woman's shoulder as the woman turn to embrace him.

"Oh, Agnarr. What should we do, her powers are getting stronger." She asked the man while she remained in his embrace. The man sighed; he hadn't thought that it would turn out this way. For his daughter to be born with the ability to manipulate ice and cold.

"It's going to be okay, Iduna. I know that it will be. We'll be here for her and help her control her powers. She's going to grow up like a normal girl just like the others." He comforted his wife, the Queen of Arendelle. But the fire in his eyes was burning brighter than usual. His daughter will grow up normal and will not be cast away. He will make sure of it.

The two of them went to bed, as his daughter Elsa was just one year old, her cradle is placed inside their room. Iduna wants to take care of her own daughter, and even him, despite being busy most of the time, also wants to take care of his own daughter.

Just as they were about to sleep, someone knocked on the door. It was hurried and loud, luckily, Elsa was not awakened by it. Agnarr knitted his eyebrows as he got off the bed. He turns to Iduna and said, "I'll be back."

He then went to the door and opened it, and saw the guard how knocked on the door. The guard was a mess, breathing heavily as he pants to catch his breath, there was snow all over his uniform and he even appears to be holding a lantern on the other hand. When he realized that the door was opened, he immediately stood up to greet the King of Arendelle. But Agnarr stopped him and let him catch his breath.

After a few minutes of waiting, Agnarr finally asked. "What happened?"

The guard immediately answered, "Your majesty, we found a baby near the bridge."

Agnarr was shocked upon hearing that, he hurriedly asked, "How's the baby?"

As there was a snowstorm outside, Agnarr thought of the worst possible answer he could think of. But the guard's answer was completely opposite of what he was thinking.

"The baby is just fine your majesty, although it may sound impossible, it was a miracle he had survived the storm." The guard did not even mention the fact that the baby did not have any sort of protection aside from the clothes the baby was wearing.

"How about the baby's parents?" Agnarr asked again, even though he had just heard that the baby was abandoned outside, he still hopes that there was a mistake. Because leaving a baby just outside in this freezing night is inhumane and is morally wrong.

"We have no idea, your majesty. The storm was too strong, we couldn't see clearly." The guard shook his head. Just finding the baby was already a problem for them. The storm was just too strong, and everyone was tired. No matter how much they want to find the baby's parents, they just can't.

"I see." Agnarr nodded. As it was understandable. He then looked at the baby on the guard's embrace, he stretched out his hand as the guard knew what he meant by that and pass the baby unto him. Agnarr positioned that baby so that the baby will be comfortable and will continue to sleep, looking at the baby's brown hair and pale white skin, he smiled.

"Search for his parents after the storm calms, dispatch a platoon to help to search. In the meantime, the baby will stay with us." He ordered the guard with his dignified expression.

"Yes, your majesty!" The guard bowed as he soon left, Agnarr saw the guard taking a glimpse at the baby before leaving. After seeing that the guard was nowhere to be seen anymore and there will be no one disturbing them anymore, Agnarr went back inside the room with a baby in his embrace.

❄️❄️❄️

The next morning, just as Agnarr had expected, the baby's parents were not found. It was like they had never existed; they had found not even a trace of them. What was strange is that the baby was the same, it looks like the baby just appeared out of nowhere.

A week after that and still having no news of the baby's parents, Agnarr the King of Arendelle declared that he will be taking the baby as his adopted son and will be named, Jackson.

And unknowingly just like that, King Agnarr had named the baby who will become a legend in the future. Someone who everyone will always remember every time it snows.
