1 Prologue: A letter for the dead

Dear Payton Williams,

How is God treating you? Well, no benefit in asking because you are the exact kind of person who are blessed with the gates of heaven. Well, let me interrupt your delightful time.

I'm going to start following my passion. I can hear your disappointment from here already but still, hear me out. I did my job as a detective for about 3 years. I have solved 134 cases in total and I still didn't find one which excited me.

Technically I have completed your wish. Thanks to me, the Williams family is now legendary in the history of detectives. This is what you wanted, right? Or did you expect me to live tied with your strings forever? I am not your puppet and you are not a licenced puppeteer.

I know I am gifted with intelligence. I want to use it on something I like to do. It is my gift after all. And I'm absolutely certain that using this gift on something I love is not a waste.

Do you expect me to get married and have kids now? Well, sorry to disappoint but that is never going to happen. I never felt attraction towards anyone and I don't think it's going to change any time soon. I apologize. But I absolutely cannot see myself sharing my life with anyone. Go ahead. You can call me monster.

You do not have the right to pull the 'I am your father' card. I do not want any further involvement with the Williams family. I also sincerely hope I don't meet you in the gates of heaven or hell.

I'm writing this letter to let you know that I've fulfilled your dream. Our deal is over. I'm never coming back under your control again. You are famous and well respected now. Do not worry about me anymore.

Sincerely,

Will Pierce.
