Chapter 13: Unfortunate Croc

What Shin had been up to:

<<<<<<<<===============>>>>>>>>

That time when he escaped from the long forest, he saw a primitive-looking village and beyond it was another thick set of trees.

He went and visited the place and had a talk with the native villagers for directions to get out of this forest.

The villagers were some kind of indigenous tribe. The state of their civilization was way, way behind his previous life's world. Houses were made of bamboo, they wore shabby clothes, and did not even use slippers.

After he was told that the exit was apparently in the opposite direction from where he came from previously, Shin went away without staying a day in the village.

As he traveled back, he had a bad premonition that what if this place he has been sent into was a world of an ancient civilization?

Thinking about this possibility, he despaired.

He has concerns about the future convenience of his daily life.

Like, taking a dump for example. Make no mistake he had no problem with sitting his butt on a wooden latrine. But what about after that?

Shin, living on luxury, was used to using a toilet with an automatic water pressure to clean the shit off his ass.

So he didn't know if he could handle using some leaves or some kind of old toilet paper to wipe his shit from his butt.

So to prepare himself, he decided to spend time living in the wilds because he realized he had been exposed to an easy lifestyle. So, if ever his guess would become true then he won't be too shocked and can adapt to whatever manner of living the people in this world had to offer.

And it was a horrible idea.

Shin having little to no knowledge about how to survive in the forest struggled really hard.

He strived. It wasn't easy to secure the three most basic human needs.

There was a time of Shin as he found clear spring water in the forest and drank directly from it. The next day he felt sick, he got a stomach ache, but luckily enough he had a strong body so it went away with just enough rest. He learned that he should boil the water first before consuming it.

He thought it could be safe since he was confident about his keen eyesight, so now he had learned the hard way.

Now comes his food problems. Throughout his entire stay in the forest, he only had eaten meat. Specifically fish and some wild boars. He hasn't eaten any greenery or vegetables because he doesn't know what are edible plants out there.

It wasn't just that. Shin for some time had been eating usual salty dishes now. He had no other seasonings. But how did he find salt?

He followed an animal and looked for bare spots or rocks on the ground where it have been licking.

How was his food done? By grilling it into a campfire.

Here's another thing he had struggled with; producing a fire. He was so hard on himself, caught too deep into this 'discipline' that he followed the ancient way of doing it; creating friction on a wood. He had been doing that method to start a fire for a while. It was a chore.

He only noticed later on that he could use his goddamn fucking sword to create a spark and start a fire.

Lastly, a place to stay. Initially, he was building a tent made up of wooden sticks and banana leaves for the roofing and random dried leaves for the bed. But he decided to cheat, and fuck things up when he got tired of it.

Since he found a waterfall, he transferred his living quarters there exactly at the falls creating a hole near the top. He thought that it was cool so he used his power to terraform it.

<<<<<<<<===============>>>>>>>>

=== A month later ===

Deep into the forest, there was a green-colored lake following its initial point stood a waterfall of about 2 kilometers in altitude and 500 meters in width.

The falls was strangely split into two division starting at 600 meters from the top. There exist a cave at the middle point which could fit 5 average persons. A fairly large triangle roof made of wooden materials was the one separating the waters.

At the entrance of this hole, there was a young man present, wearing a white hakama along with a red jacket. He adorned a cone-shaped bamboo hat on his head.

This teen had a bored expression smeared on his face. His eyes were hollowed looking at a distance as if something was interesting in there.

He sat at the edge, his feet dangling over the ridge. Holding a rope in his right hand, while the other was cupping his chin. The rope was made up of vines firmly set up making it thick and sturdy. It was thrown into the water.

"Dame dane 🎵🎶 Dame y—" Shin, the name of this man, started to sing with a grim tone but was cut off when he felt the rope was strongly being pulled downward.

"Hoh? You surely are a tough one, huh?" Shin, commented, looking down as he saw a tail of an alligator.

Earlier it was struggling really hard as Shin tied its back legs with a rope. The line was long enough, so that Shin from above, could hang the animal exactly where the pressure and impact of the raging water were strong.

Now it was trying to submerge its body deep into the water pulling the cord along with it to avoid the heavy downpour of the waterfalls.

Shin's neutral face was replaced with an amused grin.

"Gambate ~ Crocs–kyuun ❤" He shouted with a flirty tone as he pulled the rope up.

"Kroooooooar Krooooar"

"Keh ~ Kekekekeke" He chuckled to himself as he watched the crocodile make a desperate crying noise.

What happened?

Earlier, Shin was chilling, laying his body down, arms at the back of his head looking so comfy, on a poorly made wooden raft. Drifting into the river, he let himself be carried by the flow.

So when a crocodile suddenly attacked him, it broke his day and made his mood turn foul.

He even got a severe injury. Shin's arm was cut off and was almost eaten but he took it fast enough and attached it back in its place.

He was really careless at the time.

(A/N: To spoil you though, the bs reason is that he was bored, chilling to the max, so he left his guard down.)

So he got really pissed. Not of his injury but because of the raft he so made with his sweat and blood, even spending his lifetime's worth of effort was utterly destroyed by a crocodile.

Shin made this raft painstakingly. If there was ever Shin hated so much that he would put on his hate list, one of it was 'crafting'.

Why? It's boring. Because for some reason he just can't do it right. What he isn't good at is boring for him.

So, Shin beat the creature black and blue. He planned to dice it to meat pieces but found out something more fun to do with it.

Later on, he brought the croc to his dwelling place, tied its two back legs with the rope, and made it face the wrath of the raging water from the falls.

He was pissed, that's right. But most of all, he thought it could at least alleviate a little bit of his boredom.

"Krooooar !! Krooar"

Along with the sound of rushing water, a cry of a crocodile, wailing as if begging for mercy stood out.

"..." Shin who has listening to this for almost an hour now started to feel bored once again.

He looked at the pitiful face of the crocodile, he could imagine tears threatening to fall in its eyes.

"Haaah... I'm done with this. I think it's time to go now." He muttered, releasing a distressed sigh.

Shin released the rope he was holding on and stood up.

"Syri, come on!" He called out, his voice reaching the depth of the cave about 20 meters deep behind him.

A moment later.

"Ning!" A cute, white, little nine-tailed fox came running at his call.

(A/N: Shin's very first great craft was the vine rope. Just added it as a note because I don't know where to put this info in these lines. I couldn't fit it into the narration.

It's important since I stated earlier "Firm and sturdy rope made of vines" which implies it was made with a great job. It would contradict his quirk of being bad at crafting.

Just note that he learned to make it right somehow in the story behind the scenes.)
