I Wish You Didn't Love Me

- Soran -

* 1 Day Before *

When it comes to the well being of my company I don't hesitate. When it comes to mine, I can never find the right answers. That's just how I am. Throughout my life, I have sacrificed things I "didn't need" to succeed in the ever-growing business of food. What is something I've sacrificed?

Sleep.

I stood up in a haze after waking up from my alarm. Why did I have to stay up late? I took a big stretch before heading into the bathroom and taking a shower.

I have so much to do today. I took a deep breath and let the warm water relax me.

My name is Soren Jones. Currently, I am twenty-six and currently live in my comfortable penthouse. Although many people will say that I was given this house by my famously known parents, I wasn't. Being the heir to the Jones family company made me lose a lot of credit in my business.

However, despite the title I was given at birth, I live a normal life. I work a tiring job that forces me to stay up late and grow addicted to coffee. But I love that about my life. Although there's something about my life that's not so normal. Two things.

For one, I'm the CEO of a million-dollar company called the SJ company. And, I have a crazy mother who tends to breathe down my neck. But other than that I am as normal as one can be.

"Soren, how long are you gonna be in there?!" I quickly turned off the shower not even realizing I had finished a while ago, got changed, and headed outside.

"Sorry, I got caught up thinking." Lena. My best friend of six years was living with me. She had some problems with her boyfriend Sian, well ex-boyfriend now, and until she finds a new apartment then she's staying with me.

"You're gonna get all pruney if you keep doing that. Why are you thinking so much lately." If there's something about Lena that you need to know, it's that she asks a lot of questions. But I guess this time her question is interesting.

"I don't know," I walked over to the kitchen ready to make myself a coffee. "I've been really happy lately and I guess that makes me think a lot." I prepared everything and started the coffee machine.

"Oooh, what are you happy about him? Did you finally find a special someone? Who is he?" I just rolled my eyes and poured myself a coffee. She walked over and sat down on the kitchen stool. "Or am I wrong, is it a she?" she winked at me and rested herself against the island countertop.

"Lena!"

"What? It's okay to tell me. I knew this day would come eventually. I always wondered why you'd never date." I just looked at her with a straight face ready for her to stop her antics.

"You know how I feel about that kind of stuff." If there's something that you need to know about me it's that I've been single for a very long time. It's not that I don't want to, it's more like I don't have the time to. I'm not interested in being distracted, not when I'm so close to finally having everything I've worked for.

"Alright well if it's not that then what?" I walked over to the door and paused.

"In just one day Lena, you're gonna see the SJ company go international alongside the JR company" and with that, I left and made my way to work.

When I got out of my car I was warmly greeted by my staff. I greeted them back and walked to the elevator ready to sort all of my notes and important files for tomorrow's meeting with the JR company. I felt a bit nervous but most of it was covered by the feeling of excitement.

Throughout my life, I always without fail heard one question. What do you want to do in life? And for the longest, I was never able to answer that question. But one day when I was little, I joined my father at his networking company for the first time and saw him working it was all it took.

I didn't have many talents but I decided to make my own company when I was in the middle of my freshman year in college. And what was something I knew expertly? Food.

The doors opened and I walked out and walked towards my office. The nameplate reading Ms. Jones.
