21 Part 20

[Past]

The school had finally reopened again. Lucien went to class like usual but didn't see Lara even once. He walked around aimlessly during break and stumbled into a girl called Ciara. She had tanned skin and a beautiful smile. Lucien smiled at her and she looked away shyly.

They'd dated before but it didn't last long. She was too weak to be putting up with his ways. Lucien's eyes momentarily brushed over the scars on her chest, the ones he's given her. She noticed him looking and tried to speak to him but he smartly avoided her. He wondered why girls had to be foolish and go tatter to other people about what went on between them in private. It's not like he was doing anything without consent right? Even then he had to go out of his way to keep their mouths shut.

Thankfully, Lara was the best of them all. And he's dated her the longest. But now she was avoiding him. She even refused to pick up her calls the last few days after the 'finger chopping' incident. He walked around for some more time before he decided to go into the forest. He'd taken down the animals so there was nothing else to do. He walked and walked till he reached the road closest to their school. He looked down at his arm to see that it had gotten scratched by the wild bushes and now was bleeding. He began to go back to the school when something rustled in the bushes.

Lucien knew better than to go near it. From its dragging footsteps it sounded like a human and he sure as hell didn't want to be caught by someone and get scolded for loitering. He headed back without a second glance.

The classes ended and Lucien walked up to their Maths teacher and asked her if Lara had returned from the vacation. She replied that Lara had taken a study leave that day and was spending all her time in the library. Lucien headed towards the library and on his way spotted Ciara.

"Hey," he hugged her from behind. "Wanna come with me?"

Ciara looked a little surprised. "Um.. sure? But aren't you like seeing someone right now? Is this really okay?"

"Oh a hug now and then is always fine," he tugged her by the arm. "Let's go to the library."

"Why?" she asked and Lucien groaned. Staying with Lara had made him forget girls were such a pain in the ass sometimes.

"Just come with me, okay?"

He dragged her into the library and then as soon as he spotted Lara he went and stood within her line of vision. She was too engrossed in the book she was reading so she didn't look up. He knew the librarian didn't care what went on behind the shelves. He turned around and with a sweet smile kissed Ciara.

She didn't respond to him right away but when she did it turned into a full on make out session. Eventually Lara looked up and when she did she wished she was blind.

There right in front of him Lucien was making out with another girl. They were still dating, weren't they? She was horrified by what he'd done at the carnival and needed some time alone; she thought he understood that but just a few days later he's gone and stuck his tongue down somebody else's throat.

She pulled them apart and smacked him across the face. Her anger was making her see red or otherwise she would have never even thought about lifting a finger at Lucien. Ciara looked at them with her eyes wide open and her mouth gaping.

"Ah I am so sorry it was just so sudden I-" she started but Lara cut her off with a glare.

"Shut up, bitch." She turned to him and dragged him by the sleeve. "We need to talk."

Lucien rubbed a hand over his cheek but surprisingly he didn't hate the thought of her hitting him like he used to hate his mother's hand landing on him. And some part of him knew he deserved that smack.

"Why did you kiss her?" she screamed as soon as they were outside the school building, right in front of the school field.

Lucien raised an eyebrow but offered no explanation for his actions. He had never seen her lose temper before and oddly enough it reminded him of Cardia.

"You were ignoring me so I thought we were over," he said simply.

"And you decided it all on your own?"

"You were ignoring me."

"I just needed some time alone, did I not make that clear?" she shouted.

"You've seen me do worse shit before so why now?" he said quietly. "Why do you need time off from me now?"

"I... I am going insane," she said slowly. "I can only take so much. I cannot put up with your shit all the time, okay? You went and cut his fingers off that night like it was nothing. You drugged the entire goddamn school and killed Hailey!"

Ah Hailey, he thought. She was being a bitch to Lara. She liked him so she was bullying Lara so he poisoned her.

"I also killed Dire and Nevan and Yoshe..."

"I'm not asking! Whoever irritates you, you go and kill them. That is not normal!"

"Some people don't deserve to live."

"You are not someone to decide that."

"Yes I am," he blinked, surprised. "Why are you being so unreasonable? I just wanted you to be happy and content."

"Killing off people that I don't like doesn't make me happy, Lucien."

He stared blankly at her.

"So do you hate me now?" he said and his voice choked. He quickly swallowed, not wanting to give her the impression that he was hurt.

"Don't make that face Lucien," she said harshly. "You're the one who decided to make a show of kissing her in front of me."

"I won't do that again," he said firmly.

Lara shook her head. "Nope, doesn't matter if you do it again or not I'm done with you."

"What?" Lucien said softly because he didn't quite understand why she was so upset with him kissing somebody else. And now she was ditching him?

No way.

She was the only person who cared about him now. If she left... no, he didn't want to think about that.

"Don't be stupid, Lara," he said to her, his heart breaking. His voice sounded lonely and sad and he vaguely wondered when was the last time he had sounded like this. Lara looked away.

"It's not just this Lucien... its everything, I cannot put up with the stress anymore. You are twisted and I love you but I need some time to come to terms with it."

"So what do you want me to do?" his face became expressionless and Lara didn't know whether that meant he was hurt or that he was done with this whole situation. "I won't hurt anyone anymore if that's what you want."

"I just want you out of my life," she said sadly, not looking him in the eye. "Will you hurt me Lucien?"

"Nope," he turned away. "You want me gone right?"

"Yes." She looked down at the ground and then muttered to herself, "I wish you disappear and never come back."

Lucien clenched his fists and bit his lower lip which was trembling by then. He didn't think he was capable of hurting like this but now every inch of his body hurt. He walked into the forest without a glance back. If she wanted to be alone so be it. He wouldn't go back to her again.

She was the one who has decided to throw him away.

He wondered and when he reached his favorite clearing his eyes immediately spotted a new change. There was a body lying facedown. He looked around and then walked towards it, using the tip of his shoes to turn it over.

He laughed when he noticed who it was. The body was completely limp and cold - dead.

He knew exactly how to pay Lara back now.
