20 Part 19

[Present]

Lucien burst out laughing. Lara opened her eyes and found a very amused Lucien standing in front of her laughing. His eyes were twinkling with amusement as well and Lara sighed. Of course it wasn't going to be this easy to cut him off.

"Just kill me Lucien that will be a lot easier than going through this shit," she said softly knowing if she raised her voice now he'd get even more mad and all hope of her ending this smoothly would very well be gone.

"You're right but I cannot do that," he said. "The police are here so let's go."

"What?" he began leading her by the arm but she hang back. "If I run from the scene now it'll be suspicious. Also what do you plan on doing about all this mess that you've created?"

"You cold hearted woman," he grinned. "Your precious classmates are a 'mess' now, are they?"

"I didn't really think of them as 'precious'," she reasoned.

"Then it's better that they're gone," he said lazily. "Humans are all nuisances anyway- apart from you."

"Sure," she rolled her eyes. He led her outside and through the back of the school onto a deserted road. As soon as they set foot a car drove up to them. Lara stood back a little in the trees as she didn't want to be seen with him. He noticed this action and raised an eyebrow. "Do you really think I didn't come prepared to take you away? That's my car."

The door opened and out walked a young man with brown hair and dark brown eyes. Lara noticed that his face was totally expressionless like how Lucien sometimes got in the past. Lucien dropped the gun he was holding into his hands and he walked off towards the college building.

"Lucien, who was that?" Lara's voice rose a little. "You cannot let other people take the blame for you!"

"He's suicidal anyway, he might as well save my ass." Lucien got inside the car and then beckoned her inside. "I don't wanna have to force you, get in."

"Who is he?" Lara stood unmoving. She knew she needed answers first. "Don't even think about lying to me."

"Just some fella I picked up… Now get in," he growled the last part and Lara looked behind her in the direction the guy had just vanished.

Seeing Lara not move Lucien got out and stood in front of her, irritated. "Do you really plan on standing here all day today?"

"What happens when they don't find me? I will be the prime suspect," Lara looked at him in disbelief. "Do you want to blame me for mass murder now? Is that all that's left?"

"If I wanted to get you in trouble I wouldn't send him to take the blame. Shut the fuck up and get on Lara. I'm losing my patience."

"I don't want to! Fuck you for disappearing on me," Lara looked directly into his eyes. "I know we didn't break up officially but let me spell it out for you now, I don't want to be with you anymore."

"You're being unreasonable," he grabbed her hands and cuffed them. Lara looked up at him in surprise. When did he even get them? "I didn't want to do it but you left me no choice- don't try to kick me, it'll just get worse if you do." He pushed her inside the car and drove straight.

"I'll scream," she announced her new plan.

"Then I'll gag your mouth," he said calmly, clearly enjoying the conversation. "I know you're smarter than that, Lara."

"All my life you've treated me like a fucking science experiment and now you're back after five goddamn years and you think you can still tell me how to act?"

"Why are you acting like a hormonal teen? Are you pissed because I didn't come to see you for all these years or because you thought I was dead and that hurt you or the fact that you hate I killed all these people right now?"

"Maybe all of these," she replied. "Did you really not care about my feelings Lucien?"

"Did you forget that the last thing you had said to me was to disappear and never come back?" he reminded her and she looked away from him and out the window. "Oh so now you plan on acting all innocent huh?"

"You kissed her, didn't you?" her eyes teared up and Lucien stopped the car in front of a house built just on the outskirts of the small town nearest to the college. The houses here were really posh looking and the neighborhood was very quiet.

Lucien told her to get out but she stayed seated. "I didn't know that it would hurt you," he finally said after a moment of silence. "I didn't know that kissing somebody else was gonna hurt you that much, okay? I mean I knew it would but I didn't expect you to be so serious about me at that time. I kind of enjoyed seeing you get hurt though that's why I guilt tripped you all these years."

"You can't be serious," she widened her eyes in disbelief.

"But I am," he shrugged comically and then pulled her out of the car, dragging her into the house. "I bought this vacation house for us to enjoy, let's make full use of it."

He carried her upstairs into one of the huge bedrooms and threw her on the bed, proceeding to take off his shirt.

"I promise I won't do it again," he leaned down to face her who stared up at the ceiling blankly.

"I'd be a fool to trust you at this point," she said emotionlessly.

"Oh come on," he touched her face gently. "I love you is why I came back at all."

He relaxed on top of Lara's body, letting his weight crush her. She gasped and then sighed. "Get off of me."

"No," he rested his head on her shoulder and then sniffed her. "Who'd say you were just in a place where people died with the way you smell?"

"You could just say I smell good," she said.

"I have thought about this for the past five years too - I shouldn't have kissed her to make you jealous although you were really ignoring me."

"And that hurt you?"

He didn't reply.

"We're even now," he smiled and sat up, straddling her. "Now stop pouting me and love me. I'd been terribly lonely all these years and you never even tried to double check my body to see if I was really dead or not."

"Don't you dare try to say that to me," she hissed. "You were the one who pretended to be dead."

" I haven't seen any emotion on your face for a very long time now. I'd been stalking you for months prior and you were very expressionless all this time," he trailed a finger down the side of her face and down her collarbone and dragged it to her breasts. "Did my death make you depressed, love?"

She refused to answer and he chuckled before leaning down to unbutton her shirt.

"I know you love me, don't bother lying."

She closed her eyes and breathed in deeply.

No, I hate you Lucien, she thought. I hate you more than I've ever hated anyone.
