6 Meeting The Sisters

"ARE YOU really okay now? Did the doctor said you can eat these foods? Or do you want something else?"

Mother, the Countess, asked for the 4th time since I sat down and picked the softest foods.

I picked eggs and bread from the table. I also have a side of what appears to be a creamy mushroom soup, which what the doctor said that I should eat.

I mean, I am really starving and I don't think I will be full just by a bowl of soup.

I smiled at Mother who kept fussing over my food, "The doctor said that I should eat soup, but I guess soft foods like these will be alright."

"Let's call the doctor just to make sure." Father, the Count, said and was about to call for the doctor when I stopped him.

"No, it's okay! I promise that these are okay for me to eat!"

They both looked at each other before turning their heads back to me and nodding. I sighed in relief when they let it go and didn't persist in calling the doctor anymore.

Honestly, I never really know what it feels like to have parents. I am an orphan at an early age in my last life and the only parents that I know are Daisy's.

I stare at the Countess, or Mother, as she fondly watched me.

I now know where original Eristheria got her looks because her mother is actually a goddess. The longer I stare at her, the more I realize that this family came from a novel.

Long lighter brown hair and shimmering green eyes like they were gems, long eyelashes that seem to flutter, and even her facial structure are just perfect.

The loose strands that fell whenever she will look down at me, added by the natural light from the windows makes her ethereal.

You are a lucky kid, original Eristheria. I mean, those genes are a jackpot!

"You look pretty today, Mother." I praised her because I just can't help it.

She smiled lovingly at me, "Thank you, sweetheart."

Father smiled at the exchange then we started to silently eat our breakfast and I can say that these are the softest way to cook eggs. It is fluffy on the inside and well-presented on the outside.

I didn't even realize that I finished it all until the bread is gone too.

"You have a good appetite today, Eris." Mother said happily as she stared at my now empty plate.

"The food is delicious!"

Father chuckled, "I am sure the chef will be happy to hear that."

We smiled at each other and was about to talk again when our conversation was cut short when the door opened and a beautiful girl stepped in.

She is wearing what seems to be her training outfit and her dark black hair is up in a ponytail. She looks tired but the sparkle in her eyes tells me either wise.

She looked up and has a huge smile on her face but when her eyes landed on me, that smile disappeared and was soon replaced by a cold gaze. I pretend to ignore her gaze as she walks towards the chair in front of me and took her seat.

"Mother, Father." Then she landed her eyes on me.

"Eris."

I nodded at her before giving her a small smile.

"Hello, Sister."

She raises an eyebrow, "Sister? What happened to Ekris?"

"I just like to call you Sister, don't you like it?"

The clear disgust on her face is hard to miss but I don't think our parents noticed it. They just smiled at our interaction like the person in front of me does not want to kill me right now using her eyes.

Now I know why the original Eristheria doesn't tell anything to her parents.

From what I can see, she looks like she is 3 years older than me because of her built but maybe because she also practices swordsmanship? I saw in the novel that people who practice swordsmanship tends to develop their body early because of the training.

What kind? It involves magic.

"Isn't this nice? I wish Elishia could also attend but I'm afraid she has history right now." Mother commented making Ekris nod.

"I just checked up on her, she said she will also be busy later at lunch." She said and then shadily glanced at me.

'Excuse me? Are you saying I am the reason why our eldest sister won't be having lunch with us?'

Father sighed, "I am proud of Elishia but she could use a break from her studies. Her well-being is important as well."

Ekris smiled widely, "I will tell her that Father cares deeply about her schedule."

Mother nodded at her, "Please do so."

Ekris suddenly turned to me and smirked as if she is showing me that both of our parents care for our eldest sister. I want to roll my eyes at her childishness but I know that may even cause her to hate me.

'My goal is to survive as Eristheria in this novel. Hello? Comfortable life? Without dying?'

As we are eating, Ekris continuously gave me glares now and then and it suddenly feels like I am eating in front of a feral cat. I sighed and tried to eat the soup as fast as possible so I can get out of here and think about my plans.

I was in the middle of my soup when a maid came in and Mother gasp, making us stop eating and turned our heads to look at her.

"I forgot that I am going to Marchioness Rostein today!" She exclaimed.

Does mother know Marchioness Rostein? The long time friend of Marquise Dalione?

Father laughed at Mother's words and said, "You can go ahead, darling."

Mother turn to Father and asked, "Are you sure? I even promised to spend time with you."

"You can spend time with me tonight, darling."

My face instantly turns sour and I want to vomit at Father's words. I saw Ekris looks the same and stared at our parents like they are weird. Mother, on the other hand, blushed at Father's words.

"Vincent!"

'Please, leave or I will.'

Mother left immediately after that and Father followed, saying he has paperwork to attend to but I'm sure he will just bid Mother goodbye.

All that is left in this table is Ekris and me.

'Great.'

"I see that you have survived." She started as I swallowed the soup.

I confusingly looked at her, "I guess?"

'Do you want me to die then?'

Ekris didn't say anything after that and I peacefully ate my food, soup.

Thinking that this is going well, the door to the dining room creaked open, making everyone in the room turn their heads to look who it was, and seeing a very familiar girl.

I saw a pair of shoes stepping in followed by a deep rose-colored dress and what seems to be a maid that wears the same clothing as Avril trudging beside the familiar figure.

"Sister." I greeted Elishia.

She looked at me, her hazel eyes looking at me sharply as the maid just nows her head, clearly avoiding my gaze.

"Ekris." Elishia called for Ekris as she ignored ny greeting.

Still, I smiled at her, the polite kind of smile, as I gave her a small nod as a sign of acknowledgement. I am still eating so I can't just go down and curtsy, Avril told me it was rude to both the person and the chef.

"It's not over still?" She asked as she looked over to Ekris, raising an eyebrow and ignoring me.

Ekris shrugged and continued eating, then Elishia turned her head towards me and calmly spoke, but her tone has a sharp edge to it.

"I want to talk to you about something."

Then, she looked at Avril, who was standing at the corner as her head is bowed the same way as the maid that Elishia brought, as she waved her hand at her as if dismissing her.

"Leave us."

The maid nods and Avril looked at me for a moment before nodding as well and leaving, giving me a last glance before closing the door behind her.

Ekris also left, but not before she gave me a hard stare, as she slam the door close.

'Okay, that was rude.'

I sighed at this and turned my attention towards Elishia.

She walked towards me and sat on the opposite end of the table, which is in front of me.

I smiled at her once again, the tension and awkwardness in the room lingering in the air as she poured herself a cup of tea in silence.

'Am I in trouble…?'

I watched as she slowly fills it up then lifted the spoon to swirl it around elegantly.

"I came here to talk to you about something."

My eyes looked at her the moment she spoke and nodded at her.

"That is…?"

What is she going to say this time?

She bitterly sipped the tea for a moment before putting it down and staring at me fiercely.

"I know what you did days ago."

I looked at her, confused.

'I did something? I haven't left the room since I then so why…?'

"What did I do?"

"The game, don't think I didn't notice that you are trying to earn Father's favor again."

…Say what now??
