4 I'm The Extra?! (2)

ERISTHERIA FREAKING HOLSTEAD.

'Freaking is not her middle name but you get my point.'

Of all of the characters, in all of the novels in the world, I was put in the last novel that I read before I died and the most pitiful character who wasn't even further mentioned aside from Ekrisilia and Elishia's stories.

The youngest daughter of the House of Holstead.

I am in my favorite novel named 'Lovers in Bloom', which I am excited btw, but it is also where there are so many goddamn characters to choose from.

'So why of all…!'

"Eris? What's wrong, darling? Is your head hurting again?" I heard Mother asked beside me as she stroke my head, interrupting my inner monologue.

I just nodded at her, not even bothering to open my mouth, as my head continues to throb badly.

'I think the cause of my headache is that unnamed God.'

She notices my silence and being worried as she is now, she stood up.

"Wait here, I will call the doctor immediately."

I heard the door closes as Mother left while Father is still by my side. I felt the right part of the bed deepen, making me slightly open my eyes as I see who it was.

I saw the brown-haired girl sitting beside me and patted my head gently too.

"There, there, Eris. You'll be alright." She said monotonously.

Even though she is patting my head gently, why do I feel like she hates me…

'Oh, right. Elishia hates Eristheria.'

I just sighed at this and closed my eyes once again, ignoring Elishia's rigid hand as she attempts to soothe my aching head.

I just can't believe I am Eristheria Holstead now and just when I thought my life will be sweeter this time around!

'You unnamed god, you didn't think this through!'

My headaches badly after saying that. I ignored it again and tried to recall what I can remember from the novel.

'And how I can avoid this death flag of mine!'

As far as I remember, this novel is set on a powerful kingdom named the Alynthi Kingdom, the name coming from the holy magic that protected it for centuries. It is said that the reason for this holy magic was because of a maiden who was God's beloved child.

Of course, the beloved child will be the poor but beautiful heroine who saved a Baron's life, and thus, in payment for her kindness, he adopted her.

Did I forget to mention that the genre of this novel is a Romance-Fantasy type?

Well, now you know.

Furthermore, when she was adopted, she was instantly pitied by everyone in the Baron's home but she soon captured their hearts. The heroine, although still being pitied, was bullied by the higher noble ladies and still managed to survive.

There is one scene where the heroine was pushed into a pond and the Duke, which is the male lead, was present at that scene, and seeing it happen, he rescued the poor heroine.

'What else would I expect from the main protagonist of the novel?'

However, before I could even know the ending of the story, I was unfortunately killed and died on the spot.

'Isn't that just convenient?'

I heard the door open and I heard rushing inside. The patting had stopped as I opened my eyes slightly to see what is happening.

I saw Father as he looked at me with eyes full of concern while Elishia is with Ekrisilia, both looked at me in a rather uninterested manner.

Right, I remember that these two are not on good terms with Eris even after her death.

Why?

They hate how their parents are more focused on Eris and not giving attention to them, always giving excuses or saying things like 'it's for your sister's sake' since Eris is born weak.

So, being the weak and younger child of the couple, they tend to pay more attention to her as they might lose her at any moment.

The two, Ekrisilia and Elishia, are too young to understand that and so, they mistake the attention as favoritism by both of their parents towards their younger sister.

This character, Eris, is so pitiful, and yet she is the key to their character development, as we readers call her.

She is so pitiful that she only appears in one chapter, and that chapter was only a flashback of Ekris as she told the story of her childhood.

I pity her but she did her job as Ekris, later on, became the first female to ever be the captain of the Duke's Knights and Elishia goes on to marry into the neighboring kingdom.

It took them a good while to realize that they shouldn't have acted the way they did but it was too late.

Still…

'WHY THE HELL IS THAT CHARACTER ME?!'

"She should be fine; it might have been just the side effects after rolling down the stairs but she should recover in no time." The doctor said, breaking me off of my thoughts and listening to him.

I saw Mother, who came back with the doctor, and Father sighed in relief as they heard the Doctor's words. I closed my eyes again as I felt a hand on my wrist, carefully putting two of their fingers on it to feel my heartbeat from there.

"Is her health going to worsen again like last night? Will we lose her again?" Mother asked.

I felt the doctor move away after reading my heartbeat and heard footsteps beside me, feeling a hand touching my hair gently.

'It must be Mother.'

"No, she will be fine. The beat of her heart has returned to normal and her mana has expanded, unlike before. I would dare say she will slowly recover from her weak constitution but not now."

"Are you saying… She has healed?"

My eyes opened at this.

'Did you just say 'healed', Doctor...?'

"Yes, but don't force her to move her body immediately. It seems that the accident caused some sort of reaction in her body, releasing the locked mana that she has which prevented her from being healthy."

I thought about what he said and tried to recall what I can from Ekrisilia's story from the novel.

She said that her little sister died because of a complication which she later found was about her mana. It was clashing with her soul that causes a huge depletion of her health until her body could no longer contain the clashing that it just gave in.

She believes that sickness was even the cause of her death.

'Just like I said, she is pitiful.'

But wait a minute, what is the doctor saying?

'That I don't have a death flag anymore? Is this real?!'

Does that mean, I'm going to continue living as Eristheria Holstead?!

"H-How can that be?! She was just dying last night and you are saying she is slowly recovering?!" Mother asked in shock but I can hear from her voice that she is happy about this.

I, the person on the topic, immediately closed my eyes as I listened closely.

"I don't know what happened either. It may be that the soul overcame the clashing with her mana and caused a reaction of some sort that slowly healed her."

Mother gasped happily, "Did you hear that, Elias?! Our daughter is recovering!"

"I know, my love. I am happy too."

"Finally, after all these years, our daughter…"

I heard a cry beside me, thinking it was Mother, I opened my eyes fully and looked at her. My head still throbs slightly but I can manage now.

"Mother." I called to her.

She turned to me, tears streaming down her face, as she smiled and wiped it off. She put her hand on my hand lovingly and stared at me with a gaze full of love.

My heart warms at this.

'She reminds me of Mrs. Santos, especially with how gentle she is.'

"What is it darling?"

I smiled back at her, "I'm hungry."

The moment I said that it was followed by a low growl of my stomach. Mother chuckled at this as she kissed my forehead.

The doctor chimed in, "No hard foods, for now, we need to still keep a close eye on her."

Mother nodded, "Then, I'll ask the maids to get you something soft to eat."

After that, she leaves me with Father as Ekrisilia and Elishia are by my side. I think the two don't want to be here but they have no choice, I can read their expressions so I know.

"Is that all you need from me?" The doctor asked Father.

He nodded at him and waved his hand, signaling the doctor to leave.

"That will be all."

The doctor bowed towards Father.

"Well then, Count. Call me if you need me again."

The doctor left just like that and the whole room is swallowed up by silence as the three people present are not talking.

I do believe that the Count is not that close to Elishia and Ekrisilia, for the sole reason that Eris needs all the attention that she can get because she is sick and there is also the fact that the Holstead is a large and renowned family.

They are in line with Duke Hartridge when it comes to nobility as Holsteads is said to be one of the original nobles since the beginning of the kingdom.

However, it doesn't mean that the Count does not love Ekrisilia and Elishia.

'He has...a very peculiar type of showing it.'

Again, in one of Ekrisilia's confessions in the novel, she said that if only she knew that there were no favorites between the three of us, she might've treated Eris better.

Since I, Hana, the reader who reincarnated in Eris's body. I have the power to change that.

I want to change the flashback that Ekrisilia told in the novel.

Nonetheless, to achieve that, I must fix the misunderstanding between the two and the Count.

'But how...?'

I secretly looked at Elishia and Ekrisilia as their eyes roam around the room in distaste and Father did not notice it as he continued to smile at the sight of the three of us all together.

'Uhhh...? Isn't the Count too obvious that he likes to see all of us?'

Elishia finishes looking around and turned her head towards me again. At the same time, Father's smile disappears as he looked stoic and unfeeling looking at us now.

I want to facepalm at this act of his as Elishia looked at Father's hand on top of my head.

She then looked at me with her cold eyes, almost glaring, making a shiver run down my spine.

'Oh boy, this will be a lot harder than I initially thought.'
