"Do you need me to remind you that today is your first day of work ? " my mum said from the room next to me.

"I'm awake . You don't need to shout it to the whole world " I replied

" Then get ready and come down for breakfast "

" Okay"

I laid on the bed thinking about life. I was the only child in my family . I always wanted to be a designer . I enrolled in the best schools , I became an apprentice under a renowned designer. Things were going well until I found out that I was a foster child who was picked up from the road. My whole world came crashing down. I was determined to find my real parents . I tried everything I could to find them and when I eventually found my mum, I found out that she'd left me on the road because she couldn't take care of me . She was just a teenage girl who had gotten pregnant after a one night stand with a stranger. I began staying with her since my foster parents were not against it . I later applied for the job of a designer at a designing company called Oriental . I got the job and today is my first day .

"Are you coming down or not ? " Mum said

" I'm coming. I just need to dress up "

I quickly ran into the bathroom and five minutes later , I was out . I went in the closet and came out dressed in a gown. I combed my hair and packed it in a ponytail. I applied a lip balm ( I'm not a makeup person ) and went down .

"What took you so long ? " Mum asked

" I was busy doing some things. "

" Would you like some sandwiches ? "

"No, some coffee would do "

Mum poured me some coffee which I drank in one gulp . I looked in the mirror that was in the dining room and thought to myself ' Emma Daniels, you're looking amazing as ever . Go blow their minds '
