7 Stone, Metal, Gold, and Wood

My muscles felt as if their fibers were being ripped apart individually as my body hung from the poles. I think it must only be early afternoon by now, though it feels like I've been carried for hours. I tried not to think much, as I knew my brain would need to be sharp and ready to face whatever master I would meet. I also knew it was futile to let my mind run wild. Father taught me to discipline my mind and not just my body.

Suddenly our journey seemed to end as I was abruptly lowered to the flattened dirt. My poles were removed as I could feel my wrists being handcuffed and chained. Rough hands grabbed my shoulders as I was force led inside a building. This must be the hideout. My blindfold was pulled off and cotton removed. I was inside more than a hideout. It was a solid fortress constructed of stone and metal embellished with gold and wood carvings.

I held no emotion as I quickly took note of my surroundings. I was ever so slightly intimidated, but I would sooner die than show it. Buildings this size and complexity were rare and unheard of, even for far trade outposts. Only those of underhanded dealings would own this. It was almost a kingdom. One that I will not partake in. I stood chained and poised for whatever was to be.
