16 Her Father's Name

They battled as such for a short time before he broke the silence. The Master looked intently into Atila's eyes as he said one word "Paldar". A name. Not just any name. Her father's name. Atila froze upon hearing it, unable to conceal her reaction. It had been years since she heard that name. Her face began to scowl as she remembered the denial certain high members in her gathering had in regards to his death.

"Your father was an honorable man. Do you want to know how he died?"

Her eyes flamed as she seemed to have snapped. She barred her teeth as she tried to strike a blow. He caught her wrists and firmly held her still.

"Your father was murdered! I know you never believed otherwise."

Rage continued to fill her as her hidden grief started breaking. She had done so well denying the pain for these past years in isolation. She finally shut down and dropped to the ground at his feet. He slowly backed a few paces away and sat on the grass opposite her. He stayed there until the sun started to set. He offered her a hand and led her back to her room. She did not fight him as she was too busy fighting her thoughts.

She found herself under her blankets taking deep breaths. The stars were well up before she could think of falling asleep. She could hardly believe he of all people knew of her father's death. She was almost too afraid to find out more.
