2 No Class

There group of 6 gathered with the princess, the court mage and the king in the dining hall. The hall was easily much larger than their classrooms at school. The room was filled with the same black marble that had been seen in the throne room with various decorations such as swords, shields, some bows, and even a grand chandelier. The table could very easily seat 30 or so people and there was enough food to feed a family of 10 for a month. The guys were drooling as they were all athletes and had never seen so much food in their lives.

Derek was the first one to speak, "So, how much can we eat?"

King Leon replied, "You may eat as much as you can stomach, this is all for you."

Derek's eyes lit up like a kid on Christmas and he ran to the nearest chair on the side. He immediately began scarfing down food like he had been starved for a few days. Markus joined him and then Ian followed suit. The girls were a bit more refined and began pacing themselves with the food.

The princess spoke up after seeing the "spectacle" of the heroes eating, "I take it the food is delicious?"

The boys all nodded in agreement, while the girls all said very high praises for the chef.

"After this you will be shown to your rooms and tomorrow, we will tell you more of your duties," addressed King Leon.

Ian looked at the others and said what was on all their minds.

"We can't stay because we don't belong here, and all of our families are going to freak."

Zoe was the first one to respond, "I actually don't mind being here. I was a little shocked at first but now I think I could stay here."

Ian looked at her and only said, "You do know that there will most likely be no showers, no internet, no indoor plumbing, no everyday luxuries that we are accustomed to, right?"

Zoe thought about it for a minute and then replied with, "You know what, I think our lives will be better without all of that stuff."

....

The next day...

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaah! There is a giant rat in my bathroom. Somebody gets it please."

Everyone heard the screaming come from Zoe's room and they all rushed over.

Ian stopped everyone from entering and turned to the girls.

"You two should go in first and make sure that Zoe is decent before we go in there because I'm not running in there while she is butt ass naked."

Rose and Alice looked at each other, "Good idea. Zoe we're coming."

The girls went inside first and after about 10 minutes got Zoe calm and dressed. The boys entered when they were signaled to and immediately began to look for the rat in question. Another half an hour later, Ian had found the "rat" which was just a little brown mouse.

"Awwwww, he's a cute little guy isn't he. I might just hold onto him," said Ian who had always been a sucker for animals.

"Why would you keep such a disgusting little thing?! It would better to kill the little thing."

Zoe was not impressed with the little mouse that had nearly given her a heart attack. After the slight scare and everyone had gotten all of their stuff together, they went down to the throne room where Alexandria, Leon, and Gyrax were all waiting.

Leon got up from the throne and went to greet the group, "Thank you all for joining us this morning. We would like to explain how all of your abilities as heroes will work."

"Well your majesty, we don't mean any disrespect, but we just want to go back home," said Ian as he voiced the opinion of the group.

"I understand your wishes hero but I'm afraid we can't send you back home as don't know the entire spell capable of doing that. The spell is split between the leaders of the five nations and only when the heroes have defeated the great evil can we then send you all home."

King Leon's statement was confusing to the group, but Ian understood it immediately. The leaders had developed this plan to prevent the heroes from just being able to show up and then leave again.

Ian looked at the others and then back at the King.

"Alright, well first off I guess we need to tell you our names."

"I'm Ian, this is Zoe, Rose, Alice, Markus and Derek."

"How do we look at our abilities?"

Gyrax spoke up with extreme excitement, "All you have to do is say status."

Zoe decided to be the guinea pig and try it out.

"Status."

Just then a pop-up window appeared.

'What?! This can't be right. It says I don't have any skills or even what my class is.'

"Hey Gyrax, my status says I don't have a class or skills."

"What?! That's impossible!! You should have a class and at least one skill."

Ian showed his status to Gyrax and he was absolutely dumbfounded. There was clearly no class and no skill.

"This has never happened before; I've certainly never seen it before. I'll have to consult the archives and look for any situation that would be similar to this."

Ian looked at the others and saw the looks on their faces: they all looked so defeated as if Ian was brought here by mistake.

'I've got to figure a way out of this or at least change everyone's mentality about the situation.'

Before Ian could really get an idea on track, Markus raised his voice.

"This is bullshit! Ian deserves a class more than most of us and he has a much better idea about all this other world shit too! This is really fucked up!"

Ian tried to calm Markus down, "Take it easy man, if I don't have a class then I'll just have to learn a bit of everything."

"While we can't give you a class, we can at least provide you a weapon," which came from Alexandria.

"Why would we need weapons, we don't have to fight anything do we?"

Alice asked the question that made the others think about what heroes in fantasy worlds usually have to do.

"Wait a minute, Zoe is a thief so that usually means that she would get daggers?!"

Ian made this point and everyone immediately looked at Zoe.

"Wait, do I seriously get big knives? That's awesome!"

Markus immediately raised his hand and stated, "I vote to see if we can change Zoe's class immediately because I don't trust her with anything sharp and/or pointy."

"Seconded."

"Ditto."

"Aye."

"Same here."

Everyone agreed that they didn't want Zoe to be the thief, but the Ian said something he probably shouldn't have.

"Well, in all actuality, Zoe being the thief makes the most sense as she is the slimmest and can fit into smaller spaces a lot easier than any of us can."

Ian looked at Zoe and she had this look on her face like she was going to castrate him.

"Come on Zoe, I didn't mean it like that. It's true thought, none of us can fit in really tight spaces."

"Well everyone, are you ready to get your weapons?"

Princess Alexandria looked ready to go and escape this awkward conversation.

Markus looked at everyone else and said, "I think so, as ready as we'll ever be."

Alexandria led the group to a large room that had large black marble walls covered with weapons of all shapes and sizes. There were axes, swords, spears, bows, maces, flails, mauls, and various other types that the group had never seen before.

"Please choose which ever weapons you are capable of using."

Markus stepped up first and picked a long sword and buckler. He also picked a bow because he wanted a ranged weapon just in case. Derek followed with a large two handed axe and three smaller throwing axes. Zoe was next and ran to the daggers and grabbed as many as she could carry. Gyrax appeared with two staffs, one with almost a cross like top and large red jewel in the middle of the cross while the other was more of a traditional wooden staff with some engravings and a medium sized blue gem at the end. Ian was the last one to pick when the sound of clanking armor came busting in to the hall as roughly 25 armed guards entered all equipped with scary looking spears.

The next sound that followed was more clacking of metal armor as the next person that entered seemed to be no different from any of the other guards, but they were clearly different from the other guards as the new person had an air of authority about them.

"Your majesty, I am sorry to disturb you but there appears to a problem with the group of bandits to the east. They have made some serious demands and don't plan on vacating the cave up on the hill anytime soon."

"We'll go, maybe we can help deal with the bandits."

Markus had all but volunteered the group for their first mission.

"No, this is far too dangerous and the group is unpredictable. Plus, none of you have any training nor any armor to protect yourselves."

Princess Alexandria was firm in her stance on not letting the group go.

"Relax Markus, there will be time when we can help people. The princess is right, we are too inexperienced and need some more time before we can do anything."

Ian looked at the guard and noticed the slight changes to the armor noting the slightest details.

"May I ask who you are?"

The guard turned to Ian.

"I'm sorry about that, I am Captain Chris of the Royal Guard. Please call me Chris."

"Nice to meet you Chris."

Ian noticed that Chris' handshake wasn't as firm as he was expecting it to be and Chris had a very small hand. The armor also appeared to smaller than the other guards and seemed to move around a lot less almost like it was padded. Ian definitely made sure to make a note of all of this as it was very suspicious.

"If you don't mind your majesty, who will be training us on how to fight?"

"Don't worry Ian, the captain has already agreed to train you all in regular combat and Gyrax will teach you how to use magic."

"Ok then, can we start now?"

The captain looked at Ian and said, "Don't you need a weapon first?"

"Oh right, yeah that would probably help."

Ian looked around the room when something caught his eye. It looked like a meter long walking stick with some burn marks on it and notches like it had branches. He picked up the large stick and immediately noticed that it was much heavier than it should be. It was only about 5 cm in diameter so Ian held it like a sword.

'So I guess this is my weapon, better than nothing.'
