12. An Approval

It has been two days since his raid at the Magus' house and the information about the Holy Grail that he managed to obtain. He is currently in his room as he is thinking about what to do about it.

'Can the Holy Grail help me with my unique condition? Though... even if it is a man-made device I don't think it will be that difficult for it to work would it?' Kirei thought to himself as he closed his eyes.

He contemplated the question for a few more minutes before finally deciding to intervene in it. If anything else, he might stumble upon a way for him to create a holy grail of his own. With a goal in his mind Kirei exited his room and went towards the Cardinals office.

'Maria is currently training so that should give me enough time to talk privately.' Kirei thought to himself as he walked through the place.

He would greet the other members of the Church before he reached the Cardinals office as he knocked on it before getting the permission to enter. He saw the cardinal standing near the altar looking at it before he turned around and looked at him.

"So, what can I help you with today Kirei?" The Cardinal asked him with a smile.

"Cardinal, during my last raid on a Magus' house I had come upon information that a Holy Grail is being constructed and is nearing completion." Kirei said to him causing the Cardinal to frown.

"Well, that is not a new kind of news. Magus' have always tried to create those things for a long time now. But they haven't been able to do it correctly without help from the three houses in Japan." The Cardinal said to him.

"Maybe so, but it still stands that we should be careful. Even if it can't function like the ones created by the three families, I still think we should be cautious of it." Kirei said to him seriously.

"Hmm, can't say that I don't agree with it. There have already been a lot of attempts at creating the Holy Grail by the many Magus' for the past 100's of years." The Cardinal said to him with a thoughtful look on his face.

Kirei waited patiently as the Cardinal mulled over about what to do as he glanced at Kirei and looked at the altar before closing his eyes and staying still for a few moments. After that he opened his eyes and turned to Kirei with a serious face.

"Alright Kirei, you can go and take a look at the Holy Grail, but you have to make sure that you won't die due to it." The Cardinal said to him seriously.

"Thank you Cardinal. I will be sure to exercise caution." Kirei said to him with a grateful look.

"Will you be taking young Maria with you?" The Cardinal asked him.

"Well, I don't think I should, considering the fact how dangerous it can be for a person who gets involved with a man-made Holy Grail." Kirei said to him seriously.

"I see. Then I shall pray that God will be with you and give you his blessings." The Cardinal said to him as he drew a cross in front of him.

"Thank you." Kirei said before he walked out of the office.

After he exited the office and closed the door he let out a sigh, glad that it had worked. But his attention was drawn to Maria who is standing beside the door and who is also looking at him with a stare. Kirei's eyes widened when he spotted her as he looked at her.

'Shit.' Kirei thought to himself as he looked at the girl.
