1 My old life

Hello comrade I am Nikolaï Aliev I am 90 years old and i'm a veteran of the second world war, I was born on July 12nd 1924.In the summer of 1942 I was concripted when I was 18 years old . I fought in the battle of stalingrade and I was promoted to the rank of master sergeant, until the end of the war I fought with my squad ,at the end of the war I was promoted to the rank of junior officer after that i pass my life to serve the ussr because i was a patriot even when it was crumbling.

I am currently in the hospital because I am too old to continue there is nothing I can do about it the time will catch up with us. We are on September 3rd 2014 and it is today that I breathe for the last time that's what I thought.

Nikolaï Pov:

today I was woken up by the nurse because I had a visit it was my daughter Irina with her husband and her two children a boy and a girl under the name of Sergei and Macha. they came more and more often because they knew that my condition worsened day by day and that it was not going to improve but I was happy to know that even if I was no more than a little old man they came to see me I was discussing how life is going for them or what news they brought me but after a certain moment Irina and her husband leaves the room, leaving the little ones to take care of me.

I knew where they were going they were going to see the doctors to find out my condition I can't hide from them that I don't have much longer to live I was even sure that I did not have it for a long time, my body suffered horribly from the old age but I did everything to spend one last moment with them in case it was the last time I saw them.

at the end of the day they were gone I spent the rest of my evening in the hospital bed reading an old newspaper from the soviet era that I had kept it was the one about the victory over the nazis then the nurse came in and told me it was time to sleep and took out the bouquet of flowers that my family had given me this afternoon.

I put down the old newspaper and closed my eyes thinking that I would have liked my wife to be here with me. She who left for America leaving me with Irina I would have liked to prevent her or go with her but I was a patriot I could not convince myself to leave and she left me while I stayed to serve the mother country I had of course problems with the secret services but I managed to get out and take care of my daughter until now.

To tired I closed my eyes for the last time in this world
