17 Uncertain

The notebook in front of him was filled with...unreadable scribbles. He couldn't believe it was really Wei's notebook. Although he was now a kid, he still remembered what it was being an adult, he had went through middle school once and it was pretty easy.

Alegebra he meant.

A lot of people might hate him now because he thought alegebra was easy, well, it was pretty easy, for a guy who was an old single dog in his past life. He made his way through Wei's messy handwriting and finally found what the question was supposed to be. It was considered an easy one, though might not be that easy for Wei, who just learnt it.

Wasn't it supposed to be deadly difficult for him who didn't even learn that, in this world.

Though, he was really-really concerned about his brother's grades. He was going to flunk it. He was probably not going to pass his math. Before he could do anything, Wei entered his room, his eyes as wide as saucers when he saw his younger brother scrunitizing his notebook. His brother did not exactly have a favourable impression of him, and now when he slowly did, he had to find out his brother was stupid.

He really wasn't only flunking math, to be honest. He couldn't bring himself to tell his parents that he was failing in his classes. Imagine how embarassing that would be. It wasn't that his grades were bad, but it was still considered low.

"Jun, um... go back to your room," he snatched the notebook away and noticed a scribble on one of the empty pages. He was sure he didn't write the question in his notebook, but the scribble was the exact question he had the most problems in. Surprised, he flipped around and found several similar scribbles on pages with the hardest questions.

"Jun, how did you?"

But when he turned around, Jun was no longer there. Sighing, he remembered that he was he one who told Jun to go back to his room. He ran a hand across his hair as he sighed. It was bad enough as it was, he should be more careful. But the scribbles did make him surprised, he must find some time to talk with his younger brother.

Jun sat down in his room.

[What are you thinking.]

Meng watched as the boy was clutching his head worriedly. As it was not the past, all of the previous information was more or less useless except for the future. Even so, he had changed a lot, probably.

The incident with Johannes was not planned at all.

'Meng, why am I worrying about these things?' Jun asked. The more he spent time in this new life as Hong Jun, the more he felt weird. Previously, he wouldn't even care, he just felt it was the normal course of life. His grades were normal, but now, being smarter due to his past knowledge, he didn't know how to handle it.

He couldn't handle being not normal.

[...]

'Why am I thinking of helping Wei, when I know he accidentally murdered me in the past?' Jun asked Meng, his tone uncertain, 'was it because I accepted him as a brother now? Was it...was it because I thought he was good now?'

Meng couldn't answer Jun. He also didn't know why, he didn't know how.

Even so, he could see that Jun was troubled. Meng had never experienced that, so he couldn't offer any advices to the troubled boy. He just watched as Jun wondered what was going on with him.
