4 Chapter 4 - 2 Years After

Kenji was now 9 years old, he grew a bit taller and his apperance was no longer pitiful.

He was getting ready for school, he went to the Young Miss room and called her. It was time to eat breakfast and it became routine for Kenji to call Ruo'er to eat.

Kenji belonged to the normal class he was also known as "Rock Miner Ken". He was average in school but when it came to his physique he was above average.

Kenji started to mine for ores and minerals every other day to help out Wei Family, in between mining he went out to the forest and started to help out in picking herbs. He told Liufan and Yuwei that he was helping in order to show his gratitude to them. An excuse he made so he could venture out and explore other possibilities the Help Menu can do.

Kenji would always be seen either earth dirt filthy or charcoal black faced. Kenji didn't mind what other people would think about his apperance. This was Kenji's day-in and day-out for the last 2 years.

Kenji leveled up already and had the class of Blacksmith (Novice) and a Sub-class Miner (Novice). His Herb picking actually gave him the Title of Herbalist (Novice).

Can distinguish different kinds of ore and minerals. Has very good intuition when mining.

Due the constant exposure to nature and different kinds of plants and herbs, owner has 50% chance for gaining additional intelligence when leveling up.

After class was done Kenji went home directly. Kenji had already prepared his basket, pick axe and some basic medicine in case he gets injured and food ration to last atleast 3 days in case he was met with trouble during mining. Kenji was prepared for any situation that might occur, as he was walking down the street and was getting ready for his routinary mining activity, he passed by the Chu's Medical Store and he saw a bundle of old books on display and being sold. Kenji's minds had lit a lightbulb, he thought of the idea of learning medical arts :) with a smile on his face he went closer to the Medical Store.

After a better inspection of the books on sale, Kenji realized that the books were almost a giveaway. These books were old and Kenji wanted them, he had the cheat to simply absorb these books and earns experience if he's lucky maybe he could learn some basic medical arts. With that in mind he asked Old Chu for all the books on sale.

Kenji went on with his way entering the Kunlun Forest. Kunlun Forest housed a variety of animals and monsters. The animals and beast are source of income to hunters, mercenary used as body guards also earns alot specially if their client is a big clan or a rich merchant that wishes to explore Kunlun Forest for its wide experience or picking up rare herbs and medicinal plants.

Kunlun Forest spans for millions of kilometers, they have barely explored to the middle part. Some say that strong monsters could be seen in the inner part of the forest and that hunters from the past tried to explore more but none have return.

The road leading to the Wei mining site would have to pass the Kunlun Forest outer level passing through it was safe. From the occasional wild animals and beast that can be seen and hunted, bandits would often wait for merchant goods transported.

Kenji while walking through the road made a sharp turn and started walking further in. He jump up the trees and started to move faster and deeper in.

In one of the big and sturdy tree one could see a tree house, Kenji made his secret base here, knowing that people seldom come through this part of the forest. It was his personal space were he tried different things regarding his ability to absorb and learn things, Kenji experimented on his herbalism and to what extent he could use creation skill. By adding two or more herbs together he would then create a new item.

His Help Menu also upgraded, there were more options availabke to Kenji now. After two years of grinding and leveling up Kenji decided that he should start learning the art of archery. He needed skills in order to protect himself and learn how to hunt. Kenji knew that sooner or later his promise to Chen Li to avenge his mother's death would come. Being stronger would ensure his safety, personal strength is the best way to ensure that. Although relying to the Wei Family's strength was not a bad idea but he does not know if the person of interest would be more influencial than the Wei's, hence he decided to power up.

After entering the tree house, he put all the medical books on the floor and started to absorb them. Ding... You have gained Medical Art Title. You know have a better understanding of the human anatomy. After absorbing all those books Kenji noticed some gray text in his stats bar. Not thinking about it much Kenji went down the tree house and went on his way to the mining site.

Kenji was greeted by his usual mining buddies. As Kenji went to his mining site, he took some time to focus his mind and energy. Using the basic Ki gathering method he learned from school Kenji focus it throughout his entire body. This made mining much easier at the same time he practiced basic body strengthening. Although he is already level 15 and his basic stats were good Kenji did not reveal his abilities.

Every 5 levels Kenji can assign his stat bonus in whatever category he wants to specialized in. He was stronger than regular adults and his memory and understanding surpasses his peers. Although he could be considered a genius if he ever reveals his abilities Kenji decided to keep a low profile, he decided that he would travel and explore this vast world in the future. Although he has his other goals in mind like fulfilling his promise to Chen Li, Kenji also knows without strength he could not do anything.

After calming down Kenji checked his surroundings if there were other people, after confirming that he is alone he started his mining. Eyes shining like gold Kenji found a rare spiritual root, its purpose is to reinvigorate the user. Kenji started tracing the rare material to find out how big or small it was. The reinvigorating spiritual root could help the user regenerate a portion of its health. Kenji thought for sometime and he decided to make pendants, depending on the size of the reinvigorating spiritual root Kenji decided to create pendants so he could wear it daily or to gift it to someone that needs healing.

Thinking up to here Kenji browsed through his inventory and tried to look for items which he could add in order to complement the rare material.

Kenji kept on mining, ore after ore he stowed them in his inventory and stacked them up. He then put his daily average mining in his backpack for his contribution to the Wei.

Kenji went back to his tree house but before he could reach his destination Kenji was waylaid by wolves.

The wolves were being led by a dire wolf. It seems that the ordinary wolf leveled up and was now venturing in order to expand its hunting territory.

Kenji was caught of guard and was soon surrounded by the pack. He put his mining tools and backpack in his inventory and took out his custom made dagger and short sword. He was faced with real danger for the first time although he knew he was stronger and faster than most but his battle experience was next to none.

Wolf after wolf came after Kenji although he could dodge and injure them he was also getting injured. His dirty clothes now tattered and with blood stains but in his eyes one could see his excitement. As they fought for quite some time Kenji was getting the hang of their fighting style of the wolves although they were many but their attack had a sequence to it. From jumping and rolling in a weird and funny manner Kenji started to really injure the wolves. Finally Kenji had his first kill, the dire wolf looked at him as if he was pondering how could a single human last this long and killed one of his brothers.

Kenji's eyes shined after having his first kill, his experience bar started to move a little. After reaching level 15 his experience gain was in a hiatus. Not knowing what to do he started mining longer and started his crafting, he thought that if he could not level up atleast he could be proficient in his sub-category titles. He didn't want to be idle, he wanted to be stronger the faster the better. If he makes his debut and others know of his talent, there was a chance that some family members or even other family clan that would view him as a threat and decide to eliminate him.

Maybe because he had watch to many animes and read to many wuxia novels but reality is that it was a possibility that could happen. So until he could safeguard his life he would not show his abilities to others easily.
