2 Chapter 2 Day 1

After eating porridge Kenji felt tired and immediately went to the room that he was assigned in.

While lying in his bed he started looking out the window to see the same dark night and countless stars. Noticing the 3 moons visible to him it finally sank in that this was his reality. Everything he knew went out of the window.

Those days spent playing online games, doing PVP challenges and exploring the unkown now felt far in the past. He was given a second chance at life. For what ever reason that he transmigrated here, Kenji was thankful. Kenji loved MMORPG games the most and now he was living it! Kenji decided to live life to the fullest, that he would strive to be stronger and be able to travel the unknown world unhindered and carefree.

Kenji was reviewing the scenes that had happened today, he remembered those green and yellow icons. His thoughts went to overdrive and he started to plan on how he would discover his other abilities. Being a transmigrator he should have some sort of cheat that would set him apart from the common masses. Other than Categorizing and marking them as friend or foe he should have other abilities as well.

As he was looking around in his room, Kenji found a small bookshelf that contains different books. He thought about the game were books would turn to experience or would give the player a special skill or knowledge. He began to tremble with excitement as he fantasized being able to learn cool abilities such as fireball, firewall, icebolt, meteor shower and summon guardian! Etc.. He suddenly didn't feel sleepy and he wanted to check how cool his abilities were.

He started to mumble the words "Menu"!...

Nothing seems to happen... Waiting.... Waiting... And somemore waiting... Finally he said "Mother of God!" Kenji exclaimed! Nothings happening... Maybe it's a different command? Kenji started using different command words... From "Open!, Options, Open Sesame etc., he kept on talking and talking... Nothing seems to be working... Kenji started to feel that his head was as heavy like as a bowling ball, all his fantasies started to crumble. Like an ice cream cake under the sun... Melting and slowly turning to mush... Kenji closed his eyes and thought... "GOD HELP ME!"

A silly sound was heard, and soon Kenji saw the words... Help Menu... An unexplainable feeling rushed over him as if all his dreams were coming true!! But wait... Other than the "Help Menu" option nothing was there... Kenji thought that it must be a glitch or maybe he was a beta tester... Kenji didn't know what to do... His gamer's instinct kicked in, he tried to see if he had a status icon where he could click or maybe mentally command it to open.. Kenji discovered that he couldn't open his status window or open any panel. Was the Help Menu his cheat? The one characteristic that he has which seperates him from the masses?? Was this a joke? Ahhh.... Kenji could not stop himself from making such sounds. After a few minutes Yuwei was knocking on Kenji's door and lightly opened it. She saw Kenji somewhat frustrated and shock... Yuwei was a kind woman and she told Kenji that he needs to rest and assured him that everything will be alright. Kenji seeing how kind and sincere Yuwei was, he felt warm and made a nodding gesture. Kenji said that he had a bad dream so she should not be worried.

He remembered that Yuwei was classified as a Herbalist. Coming in this direction of thought, he realized that people were categorized and those people had green icons. Kenji also remembered the carriage driver which had a yellow icon atop his head. Kenji thought "Maybe green means friendly and yellow means not so friendly. How about enemy? Kenji thought it should be red, like in a game which signifies that the player or npc is an enemy.

He wanted to learn more about the new environment, the information in those books in the shelves and about the Wei Branch Family... Reality is a pain, Kenji really had no strength left. Eating and moving around used most of his rejuvinated strength. Kenji finally decides to sleep it off and think about it tomorrow.

As he closed his eyes and started to dream, Kenji saw Chen Li's life as he grew from infant to his current age. Kenji found out that his father was a cultivator and with high merits. He was his hero and dreamed to be the same as his father. Unfortunately their town was siege by a beast horde 3x the normal attack that the town experiences every year.

His father came back from the battle field with wounds that should have spelled death. With his last bit of strength he told his wife that they should start the evacuation of the town. His father looked tired and bloody but Chen Li's gaze was like the sun. His father was the hero with unequalled strength and with a wooosh... went out of the house and directly went to the Elders of the town.

Next came the site of a city burning and roars of beast heard from afar. He looked at his mother with eyes saying "they would survive no matter what."

Kenji woke up and to his surprise, Ruo'er was standing beside his bed with eyes wide open. Kenji blinked and said good morning young miss, Ruo'er was surprised by his greetings and with red cheeks she replied good morning. She started to run out of the room with an excited tone in her voice Ruo'er called him "Big Brother" - and with a very cute voice she said "come out and eat breakfast together."

Kenji sat-up and carefully reviewed his environment, he stood up and walked out of the room and followed Ruo'er to the dinning table. Kenji did not expect anything special, he knew that being adopted meant that he would atleast have a roof over his head and food to eat.

All the while Kenji thought that he would be the last to eat, being a 29 years old earthling he somehow expected to be treated like a servant of some sort or maybe a helper in the house. But to his surprise the family he entered was very caring. He too had a place in the table with food especially for him.

Liufan sat there and casually told Kenji that he was going to school starting tomorrow with Ruo'er and that they would be schoolmates. The prospect of going to school was somehow normal and weird at the same time, but he knows that it is necessary for his identity as an adopted son of the Wei family. He replied with a nod, Yes uncle, and sees that his reponse satisfied Liufan. They started to eat, and he noticed the harmonious dynamics of the family and felt like a total outsider. He opted to just eat quietly and only reply when asked some questions about how did the food taste and if he needed anything, he shouldn't hesitate to ask. Kenji thought about it and remembered the books in his room, and tried to hold his excitement in when he asked "can i read the books in the room?" Yuwei gave him a nod, Kenji smiled back and looked at Liufan. She looked a bit surprised but said yes to him. His smile grew wider and he thanked her. He also told her that he would like to help out in the house, in which both Yuwei and Liufan were surprised, but also agreed. Liufan in particular was satisfied with Kenji's behavior so far and the couple both had smiles during the remaining time of the breakfast.

Just wanted to share my thoughts when writing chapter 2.

First I wanted to set the situation.

Second Kenji 29 years old, and former professional gamer turned to working class. Third - Now MC is the new owner of Chen Li's body which is 7 years old. The perspective of the MC doesn't match his age, hence early on he wants to repay them back for thier kindness.

MC is now considered as an adopted son of the Wei Branch Family, and being lucky, the MC finds himself in a good environment. Feeling awkward the MC tries his best to fit in the Wei branch Family and at the same time trying to discover his other abilities.
