1 The Catalyst

"I'm sorry, Glen… I have done all I can." A middle aged man that looked like at the age of 32 could be seen talking apologetically to a young man. His expression is that of a kind uncle trying to comfort his child.

"No.. don't worry uncle Dan, I understand that my constitution is bad. I just feel sad that I cant fulfil father and mother wish." Glen said with a sorrowful tone and disappointed look. He has a Black hair that as dark as a night sky, the sharp eyes that is looking slightly dropped from disappointment has a glaring violet iris, his tall nose and a thin pale red lips coupled with his snow white skin make him into a handsome and charming young man with sharp eyes.

"Sigh… This is how the world is Glen, even if you cant enter Refmont University you still can enter Fillard, I heard that they still have empty slot for new students, after all you still haven't awaken your blood energy and we don't even know what your magic is." Uncle Dan heaved a heavy sigh and then consoled the gloomy Glen. He then remembered that The Fillard still have an empty slot, although not as good as Refmont its still the second most prestigious college in Ghain City.

"…It has been 18 years already and I still cant awaken it, I'm probably just a defect!" His voice seemed he's ridiculing himself, his eyes looked so dead that it making his sharp eyes so scary and yet pitiful.

In this world those who doesn't have magic does not exist, except for a defect. A defect means that, that person Magic Core in their soul is damaged or the Magic Core is full of impurities, if the Core is full of impurities then the primal energy won't be able to gather and condense inside the Magic Core.

Glen was born from a royal family and his entire families are all a powerful Mage and Warrior, not even the Emperor dare to show disrespect. Glen father Tarus Blake Hart is a Mage that was feared by all because his Destruction type magic.

There are 8 elements in this world, 5 which is normal element that is Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Thunder and 3 superior element Life, Destruction and Evil. The 3 superior element only appear in those who has the blood of the royal family.

"Nonsense, our Hart family bloodline is from the Grand Duke bloodline, the power of this uncle of yours is not far from the Emperor, and my big brother which is your father has a power more powerful than that Emperor. Don't talk rubbish, you just haven't encountered a catalyst to awaken it yet. Don't give up Glen Friz Hart!!"

Uncle Dan suddenly snapped with furry, grabbed Glen shoulders and shouted at him, his eyes bloodshot and his face red from anger but in the end he is still a good uncle that cares for his only nephew. He closed his eyes and then said with a strong and yet gentle tone for glen to not give up early.

The catalyst that Dan was talking about is a very essential thing for the peoples of this world. It is basically an item or an events that will stimulate the Magic Core to be active. Be it a dangerous encounter, an ancient item that have absorbed a lot of Primal Energy, or stimulated by Ultimate level Mage.

It is rumored that if one studied magic to the very end, one can attain a power that can rival a god. The weakest power level in this world is Rank F and up to Rank SSS, if one can break free from the limit of human, they will be called as an Ultimate level Mage.

"Thank you.. Uncle Dan, I'm just worried that because of me, the Hart family would be looked down upon. But I guess I just have to work even harder from now on." Glen smiled weakly but his eyes regained its vigor and full of light, then said with a weak and slow tone while clenching his fist tightly.

Uncle Dan snorted his nose with disdain and then said with an arrogant tone, " Hmmph… Those bastards can talk behind our back all they want, ever since your parents died 2 years ago this uncle of yours is the head of the family now. You don't have to be worried about anything and live freely however you wants, but all I wish is that you don't give up and don't forget that I am only temporally hold this position as a Grand Duke for you, Glen!"

Glen could only look down while closing his eyes. That's right, his parents died two years ago from an accident when going to the Viarma City that was ruled by Tarnos Emperor. That was said by those people, but he and his uncle know that it is not an accident but an assassination.

His father power is close to that of Ancient Mage, stronger than ordinary Ultimate Mage and his mother is an SSS rank expert, but then how did they die? Their body was found inside a wrecked car. While its true that a Mage power is strong, but as long as they still not reach Ancient Mage level, their bodies is as fragile as a normal human.

Ancient Mage body is strong, strong enough to travel the space for two weeks without oxigen, water and food. Even if they were to be blasted by a two thousand Ultimate Mage, they will be hurt but not fatal, not enough to hinder them from moving. Further more, their regeneration is fast to the point where the wound will be healed in a minutes.

As one reach Ancient Mage, their body will be enhanced by the primal energy and washed from all impurities, it is as if they have attained a body of an immortal.

But unfortunately, his father is not yet an Ancient Mage, no matter how strong his magic is, his body is after all still a mortal. But how can a strong Mage a step away from Ancient Mage have an accident while driving a car? They after all still could use their magic to protect themselves from the impact, or to get out and jump out of the car.

The world technology started to advance 100 years ago and many machine were invented to make living more easy and convenient. The first thing they invented is a machine called 'Sky Carrier'. It was created for the first time at the year of 8210. It has been a hundredth years since 'Sky Carrier' has been created. Now at the year 8319, 'Sky Carrier' is now called a 'Plane'. Many vehicle with exquisite design has been created and the price is very expensive.

Glen lifted up his head with a determined expression, "Uncle Dan please help me enroll into Fillard, I don't care what others are saying I will definitely awaken my Magic Core and become a strong Mage. I hope uncle Dan won't be ashamed of having a failure of a nephew like me hehehe.." Glen then laughed with a free and unrestrained manner with a mischief gleam in his eyes.

"Now that's how it should be Hahahahaha!!" Uncle Dan then laughed with a strong vigor and happy feeling. 'Big brother I will not disappoint you, I will support your only child with my everything. Please be rest assured and rest in peace…' His feeling right now is very happy. Although he have a daughter at the same age as Glen, it was very unfortunate that his daughter is a spoiled and very haughty girl.

"I'm sorry that Alisa is not a very sensible girl Glen… Just when did she start to change I wonder. I was planning to enroll you two to Refmont but.. I'm sorry, Glen."

"Nah, I don't mind at all, in fact, I was very happy that she's not with me…." Glen said without thinking and blurted out something rude to his uncle. He then said in a hurry, "Ah… I'm sorry uncle, that's not what I mean!!"

Uncle Dan eyes had a hint of disappointment, no one know who it was directed to. He then smiled weakly with a knowing look on his face, "Hahaha I'm a failure as a father, I spoiled her too much that she became like that. Anyway, here is a recommendation letter for Fillard, I got this in advance for you. Go and change into your uniform in your room!"

"You even have the uniform ready…. Sigh… well I don't have any other choice but to go there anyway. Thanks uncle Dan, I'll work hard." Glen was a bit surprised, to think that Uncle Dan already prepared the uniform. But after thinking it again, he guessed that his uncle already knew that he doesn't have any other choice but to go there. So he decide to ignore it and go to his room in the second floor of the Mansion.

When walking to his room at the second floor, Glen saw three maid that is cleaning the furniture, they noticed Glen walking pass them and bowed to him very politely. Glen could see a glimpse of ridicule on their face, but he ignored it and continue to walk to his room.

He closed the door to his room and walked to the bed to wear his uniform that was prepared by the maid. He then looked at the uniform in a daze and contemplated, 'why after graduating from high school he still need to wear a uniform'. He looked to the right of the bed side to see the time on the clock, the time on the clock shows that it is 08:37AM but Glen still unhurriedly wear his uniform.

After he was done wearing his uniform, he then opened the door of his room to go down stair and drive his favorite car, the limited G-Series from Dragoon. Just when he was about to descent the stair, he saw that his Cousin Alisa is ahead of him.

Because of the noise he created from walking. Maybe because she was curious, she stopped to look back. After knowing it was him that was behind her, she looked at him with cold eyes and ridicule.

"Hmph.." She snorted and then continue to walk again in a slow and steady step. She is wearing Refmont uniform. The uniform color is black with purple lines crisscrossing here and there making it look elegant and cool feeling, with a red skirt that have a frills around the end of the skirt.

Compared to her, his Fillard uniform is red in color, there is Fillard university crest on the right chest. It has the form of a coiling snake around a sword, with a white flower on the hilt of the sword. It looked plain compared to her. But for him, this is the best uniform, because he liked to wear a plain clothes most of the time.

Glen then waited for her to disappear from his sight first and then began to walk with a big gait, skipping one step at a time so that he could get to the garage faster. To be honest, Glen really liked that cousin of his, back when they were still in primary school. She was still innocent back then, haaahh… Time sure is cruel, it could change ones nature so drastically like that!

When he arrived at the garage, he could see a spacious room with a lot of fancy looking car. His eyes can't help but to look at the Black colored car, with a body that looked slim and yet delicate. There is a Red colored rose with dark green thorn crossing the front, hood, and the side of the car, it looked so beautiful in his eyes. The G-Series from Dragoon, there is only one in the world, and that one car is his!

He slowly opened the car door and get inside the car, but before he could close the car door, he could see Alisa walking toward him, so he get out of the car again and waited for her. Her car is near the entrance, so for her to walk here mean that she has something to say to him.

She walked at a fast pace and arrived in front of him in a blink. Her eyes cold, her face dark with a shade of anger. "Glen you bastard, what the hell did you tell father!? You think just because he is looking after you, you could say whatever you want!? You damned defect!"

"….."

Glen only tilted his head, his eyes narrowed, but he didn't say anything. He keep looking at her with interest, 'Now now.. whatever have I done to her? Did I said something about her to uncle Dan? But damn, she is indeed pretty even though she is angry. Her voice's nice too!' All he could think at that moment was admiring his cousin face and voice without minding her words at all!!

Her eyes that a bit narrowed with a glare have a beautiful blue eyes, her cherry colored lips that keep opening and closing look very cute and enchanting. She has a Platinum Blonde hair, it is the hair of all Hart family.

Glen black hair is very unusual, even if they married others with different bloodlines, as long as the one they married is not a noble with a royal bloodline, all of their children will have platinum blond hair.

Glen mother did indeed have a Black hair, but she is not from a noble family, let alone a royal bloodline. Her mother is from an ordinary family, so ordinary that she does not have other family, her mother and father died when she was at high school, while she is their only child.

It was said that Glen father already dated his mother before her parents passed away. So her origin is clear and that is what makes it more complicated for Glen.

"Did you hear what I said you bastard!! Just because you are Next to be Grand Duke doesn't mean you can be arrogant you defect. In the first place, can you even become one!? You don't even have magic!!" Her hurtful words enter from the right ear and get out from the left ear, he completely ignored her while looking at her face with a slight smirk on his mouth.

If they were to fight for real, he was sure to die in a second. The Hart bloodline all have a Destruction element, so its not strange that she could enter the Refmont University, she is the number one Queen in his generation.

"Uuhh my lady… I am sorry but, its already 9am and we have to go to the college now or we are going to be late." Or rather, they ARE already late… but for them getting late is not a big deal, for the first test on the first day of college is a magic test so they won't be having problem at all. As for Glen, he still haven't awakened his Magic Core, so it is not wise to come very early. There is nothing to say for the young lady over here, her magic is so powerful, she is even called a Queen of his generation. What problem could there be even if she were to be late?

"... Aaahh….. Bastard… You didn't listen to what I'm saying… AAAAHHH!!! Whatever, it would be a disgrace for me to hit a weakling like you! Just go and I hope you die on the way!!" She sighed and stomped her feet in anger, she pointed her index finger at him and cursing him to die. What a fierce woman she is.

"...Ok bye.."

He get in the car and closed the door with a bang, with Vroom!! He disappeared leaving her to smell the dust.

He could see her red face from anger at the rear mirror, but he just doesn't care at all. Even if she were to be angry at him, as long as he doesn't step on her tail, he would not be in danger.

After he parked his car, he could see that It was full of expensive car, but his car is the only one that is unique and elegant. Although he does not like to show off, but his love for this one car is so deep that he just can't stop driving it, it was love at first sight when he bought this car.

He then walked toward the inside of the college, the peoples in there keep looking at him with interest and he could even see that some of them disdaining and whispering while pointing their finger at him.

"It's Glen, The Gloom Lord… The trash really come to this college… Husss, Don't be so loud… So that's Glen, he's so handsome…" They were gossiping with a low voice but Glen could still heard them. 'Being so handsome and unique sure is hard for the heart…'

He passed a lot of students on the way, but when he was about to take his phone to see where he should go after going inside, something inside him feel hot and he could feel a beating like sound from the deep of his soul.

He stopped himself, narrowing his eyes with a dangerous glow and looking around him with a desperate and hurried movement, "…. Is it my imagination? No… I can still feel its warmth, it definitely reacted!! But to what!?" he keep looking here and there while whispering to himself.

The people around him started to make a ruckus again, some were snickering at him, while some others were confused.

When he looked at his back, around the sea of trees, he could see a red haired woman with red eyes holding a book and chatting with her friends, she then smiled and then she laughed freely without worries.

But when Glen looked at her, his Magic Core, the Magic Core that was said to be full of impurities, pulsed and sending a warmth current to his body. But it happened so fast that it disappeared in a moment.
