Mortals Killing Gods is just a Fairy Tale!

A wave of tremors was felt in the not-so-distant capital of Kahndaq, causing extreme panic among the inhabitants.

"Is it an earthquake?"

"Could it be a missile strike?"

People looked towards the base outside the city, where intense flames, dazzling lightning, and purple energy intertwined, almost filling half of the sky.

Everyone was terrified—what had happened there?

Sizzle!

As Ares unleashed lightning akin to Zeus' divine power.

David could no longer maintain his relaxed and carefree posture, having to become a bit more serious, with no energy left to protect his beach shirt and shorts.

(T/N: Nigga really fought the god of war in beach wear 💀)

Boom!

Once again, a fierce clash ensued, as David's fist sent Ares flying. A spark of divine lightning from Ares' axe grazed David's shoulder, tearing his shirt.

There was no injury on his body, and he casually extinguished the sparks on his shoulder.

Diana also forced Sabbac back with her sword, elbowing him flying while he dodged in haste. She and David stood back-to-back, facing two challenging enemies.

She frowned, glancing at Ares who remained unscathed, not injured at all, hesitating as she spoke the truth.

"You can't handle Ares. Only a god can kill a god. Leave him to me."

Although Her mother instructed her to wait until both David and Ares were weakened, but David had just helped her, and, most importantly, she didn't believe he was a bad person.

"You conquered Paradise Island, but you didn't kill a single person. Even when facing the Amazons who admitted dying rather than surrender, you chose not to slaughter them, choosing to have the Amazons submit through killing Ares. You're not that bad."

Hearing these words, David couldn't help but lament Diana's naivety. Although he had known this fact and her personality for a long time, he still couldn't believe that she told the truth at this time, if it was anyone else, speaking the truth now might make most people angry for being deceived.

"With your current abilities, you can't even come close to handling Ares."

While Ares might not be as powerful as during the ancient war, he was still beyond Diana's reach, especially when she hadn't fully tapped into her potential.

"The Amazons never fear death. Even if I have to die here today, I will kill Ares."

With a sword in one hand and a shield in the other, determination filled Diana's face.

In fact, despite the comfortable life on Paradise Island for thousands of years, it had always been shrouded in the shadow of Ares, especially in recent years as Zeus' magic weakened.

She often saw her mother looking out towards the island with a heavy heart.

"Just take care of yourself."

Leaving these words behind, David's expression didn't even fluctuate because of Diana's words, and he leaped towards Ares.

Why can only a god kill a god?

'Earthly Gods, also known as Old Gods, are like special dimensional beings. They seem to exist in a different layer of reality. Just as throwing a stone creates ripples on the reflection in the water, i.e., harm the Gods, inflict injuries, but can't kill them outright.'

Regardless of the injuries they suffered, gods would recover in the blink of an eye. Only another god could inflict true harm upon them.

David had known this for a long time.

'He doesn't seem surprised. Could he have known this all along?'

Not understanding why her proposal was rejected, Diana gritted her teeth and attacked Sabbac, her eyes filled with fierceness. Her attacks grew even more sharper, driven by the desire to kill Sabbac quickly and aid David.

Damn Ares, and his demon lackeys should also be damned.

Only a moment ago, the area resembled a fortress ruin, but as the four clashed intensely, the ground shattered, nearly breaking the mountains apart.

Terrifying chasms emerged, one after another.

David and Diana each held their ground against their respective opponents, with a slight upper hand, but the advantage was not decisive. The battle seemed to evolve into a war of attrition.

But, Diana's heart was filled with anxiety, and she didn't believe the outcome would be so simple.

Ares felt the same way.

Hum!

"Your attacks are futile. Mortals are mortals, and gods are gods."

Despite his battle armor being shattered and his body scorched by the terrifying cosmic energy, Ares remained indifferent. He appeared like a mad bloodthirsty warrior, his eyes fierce as he swung his axe with the intent to cleave and his momentum imposing.

"The essential difference between us ensures your inevitable defeat."

After using his divine power, the mortal before him could no longer casually withstand his attacks.

Previously, his attacks had felt like dropping into a bottomless sea, but now it was different. The strange defenses of his opponent couldn't cope with his divine power.

"What is the difference between gods and humans?"

Evading the blade, David seemed not to have noticed the injuries he caused on Ares' body, injuries that seemingly vanished in the blink of an eye.

His fist was wrapped in highly concentrated cosmic energy, carrying the power to move mountains and split the earth. He landed a lightning-fast blow on Ares' head while asking a question.

"Gods can't be killed. That's the difference!"

His horned helmet flew off, and Ares' head jerked from the blow. Unperturbed, he turned his head, a particularly sinister smile appearing on his scarred and burned face. Panting heavily, he attacked even more crazily.

Pain and injury only fueled the deeper ferocity within this god of war.

"The notion of mortals slaying gods has always been a fairy tale, mortal!"

Furthermore, Ares was convinced that victory lay within his grasp.

Although his own divine power had been considerably depleted due to his relentless assault, he was sure the energy of this mortal was far from endless. Even using only his physical body, he could wear down this guy to death.

Although this notion angered him, it only intensified his frenzied attacks.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"I think that the distinction between gods and humans lies in the divine power bestowed by the divine position and bloodlines."

Visible waves of white energy erupted from the clash of attacks, spreading over hundreds of meters.

As David engaged in a fierce battle with Ares, his eyes resembled a tranquil icy lake, like a hunter patiently awaiting the right moment to strike—where Ares was the prey.

However, the one who had once slaughtered his own divine kin, the son of the Heavenly Father, remained oblivious to this fact.

"You're quite right. Whether it comes from bloodlines or inheriting a divine position, as long as you possess divine power, you can be called a god."

Another attack, accompanied by divine lightning, was swung by Ares with a cold smirk.

"So, the mortal who associates with my sister, the daughter of Zeus, what do you have?"

He laughed mockingly as he spoke, his axe tearing through the air and getting caught by David. His strength was as powerful as a ten thousand ton hydraulic press pressing down and he asked David with a sneer on his face.

"Bloodline or divine position? Which gods descendant are you, or from whom did you steal your divine position?"

Ares was well aware that David exuded no trace of divine presence from head to toe. He was simply taunting him with these words.

"I possess neither."

The ground beneath his feet shattered, and it was surprising that fighting with the God of War seemed to be easier than the two tasks, and a slight smile appeared on David's face.

"However, I also possess divine power."

With that, his eyes suddenly lit up with the radiance of thunder.

Crackle!

Two dazzling thunderbolts with terrifying aura pierced through the void and shot out unexpectedly.

"This is...!"

The lightning illuminated the face of the Heavenly Father's son, who was almost within its arm's reach, his eyes widening in astonishment.
