4 Magic

For the first few days, the students were taught how to design their summoned creature magic, they learned what affects the magic and what is important in designing them.

Char came to know that the creature would not be able to use their designed magic perfectly at first, they would bleed or even explode when they tried to use the modified magic as it was not compatible with their body.

But their body would slowly change to accommodate the magic ability, this was one factor that pushes them toward a certain evolution path.

For example, a baby dragon would learn dragon breath naturally, but when the summoner modified the dragon breath to ice dragon breath, their throat might explode or they might freeze their own body.

But once they could use the ability perfectly then they would change from baby dragon to an ice baby dragon.

The summoner could also create magic for their creature from scratches but they would need a building block for it.

This building block was the mana the creature had absorbed in their body, to create this magic, the creature would lose some level because the mana in its body got used to modify or create the magic circle.

From what Mr. Brown explained, there was a limit on the number of magic-circles that could be contained in a monster soul, the higher their rank was, the more magic they could have.

There was also certain magic that takes more than one magic circle but it would be worth it as the ability becomes considerably stronger, it's essential for a high-level creature to have one or two such magic abilities.

More often, these magic abilities were the requirement for them to reach a higher rank in their evolution path.

Char had been looking for what magic was required to get to a higher level but the furthest a skeleton had evolved was to be a baronet ranked lesser lich, it was said that minor raise undead magic as needed to reach it.

People who had to reach this rank tried their best to evolve their lesser lich to be a lich but they could not do that no matter what, most tried to upgrade minor rise undead to major rise undead but the result was the lesser lich would explode every time they summoned it.

They end up giving up and undo the modification on minor raise undead so they could use their summoned creature.

Other than studying magic, the student also trained their summoned creature so they could absorb more mana and level up.

Char had trouble in this because his summoned creature was a skeleton, no matter how much he told it to workout, it would not develop muscle to contain the mana, it could only absorb mana on its bone.

How could he train a creature made of bone to be stronger? He could not think of any way, so he went to the library to find some clues.

After some research, he could only use the second way to gather mana, it was for the skeleton to be destroyed and resummoned.

On its death, the skeleton would gather a little bit of their mana so they could be reborn stronger, the problem was a Skeleton was resistant to dying, he would need to break every bone before it would be considered dead.

Char had tried to command the skeleton to self-destruct but it took too long for it to break its own bones to pieces.

On the next day, Char told the skeleton to train on its own while he trained his swordsmanship, but secretly, he commanded it to stumble on another summoned creature from time to time, the stronger the creature was the better.

The skeleton was beaten by any creature it stumbles on, its bone would be broken to pieces but not many could kill it instantly.

"Hmm... this would take too long, at this rate the skeleton would only die one or two times in a day, the mana gathering rate was not great so it needs to die more" Char mumbled to himself.

His class consisted of the weakest among the weakest in the academy, they were not much better than him so they could not overpower the skeleton, luckily the tiro bullies led me Bob seemed to take a liking to kill his skeleton so he told the skeleton to annoy them more.

But the rate of the skeleton being destroyed was not that great, Char looked at Mr. Brown with a thought, after a few seconds of contemplating he called his skeleton who was stumbling toward as goblin.

He whispered to the skeleton before it continues training by itself, it looked stupid as it swings a wooden sword while moving toward Mr. Brown from behind.

The other student had already been accustomed to its antics, they thought it was normal as a skeleton was known to be weak.

It stumbled on Mr. Brown's back and hit him with its wooden sword but it did nothing but annoy the muscled man.

Mr. Brown turned around to look at it when he found the culprit, he decided to shrug it off, he moved away with a little frown.

To his surprise, before five minutes passed, the skeleton stumbled once more on his back, he did not talk much and sent a slap with his giant palm.

The Skeleton was sent flying to a wall and turned into dust and bone pieces from the impact, it attracts everyone's attention.

The other student started to whisper to each other and mock Char for his mistake, they said that Char has given up on his skeleton.

Mr. Brown silenced the class and told them to pay more attention to their summoned creature, but to his surprise, the same skeleton flew to him again once it was summoned.

This time he dodged the skeleton and caught its head with his palm, he looked at Char with critical eyes, then a sudden realization came to him.

"Char!! Come here!'' The man called Char, it made him sweat in nervousness, he had expected that Mr. Brown would be angry at him but Char still did it anyway.

"What do you think you are doing?" the older man asked his student.

"I'm sorry Mr. Brown, I was so absorbed in my training that I did not keep my eyes on my summoned creature," Char apologized to the man.

"Don't play a fool with me, You did it on purpose, right? You were sending it to annoy anyone stronger so it could die and be reborn every time," he caught Char red-handed.

"Ugh... I'm sorry," he apologized as he could not defend himself.

"You want to use me to get stronger right? Then I will help you!" the man said with a grin that scared Char out of his wits.

The man ducks down and places his hand on the ground, the ground shook and two boulders were raised from the ground, it was a round boulder as tall as Char.

"For you to be able to gather mana faster and resummon your summoned creature faster, you will need to train your body," he said.

"From today onward, you will need to push this bounder around the training ground, you cant stop before you do three laps," The man commanded.

Char was about to protest but the teacher beat him to it, "What are you waiting for?! Push it now!" he pushes Chat toward the boulder.

The skeleton looked at Char silently as if saying, "Serve your right!" But Mr. Brow did not let it off, "What are you waiting for? There is another boulder to push!" he said.

The Skeleton looked at him as if he was stupid, the muscled man did not continue with his talk, he directly went with his fist, sending the skeleton crashing to the boulder and be reduced to dust and bone shards again.

That day was the hardest and longest day for Char, he needed to use every muscle in his body to push the boulder, he was close to his limit but he gritted his teeth and continued pushing.

His motivation and consolation were the crashing sound that he heard every time Mr. Brown reduced his Skeleton to dust.

The teacher was so strict, he would punish the skeleton every time it stopped by killing it and he would also reward it by killing it every time it finished a lap.

The Skeleton would need to continue pushing the boulder until Char finished three laps, in the end, it finished more than thirty laps before Char finished his three laps.

Char falls to his back once he finishes his laps, he was too tired to walk so he commands the skeleton who just gets resummoned to pick him up.

"Ouch!" he screamed in pain as the skeleton grip him with too much strength.

"Be gentler, be gentler!" he commanded before the skeleton loosen its grip on him, if the skeleton was sentient the Char would have thought that it did it on purpose, but it was known that skeletons was more like a puppet than a creature so he did not suspect anything.
