3 Fallen Genius

On the first day of the academy, Char went to an announcement board where the others were looking at the class division for the next year.

The classes were divided from first class to tenth class, the first class was an elite class while tenth class was the worst class.

The teacher's quality was quite similar between second to tenth class, but the students' quality was different, the best student went to elite class while the worst student went to tenth class.

The resource they receive was also according to their possibility and talent, those in the worst class get less resource than those in better classes.

Char had been looking for his name for ten minutes, at first, he looked in the elite class name list as he believed that he was still the best even with a skeleton as his summon.

After unable to find his name in it even after a few times reading carefully, he went to the second class, it was not the best class but considered to be filled by genius.

To his disappointment, his name was not on the list as well, he kept reading from the highest to the lowest but he could not find his name.

Only after he reached the last list that he found his name, His name was at the bottom-most of the list, he was in the same class with those the teacher considered without the potential for future growth.

His classmates consisted of slime summoner and goblin summoner, but he could not see a skeleton summoner like him, it seems that in the whole academy, he was the only person who summoned a skeleton.

Even if there was a legend about a high-level goblin and slime, a legend was called a legend because no one could replicate the feat, so this student was still considered as the worst.

Char's face grew dark as he went toward his assigned classroom, when he got there, he was met with people he could not even recognize.

His friend was the genius and the elite of the academy, it was the first time he met the bottom feeder of the academy, they were neither popular nor ever winning a competition, everyone was a commoner whose parents were working day and night so they could study in the academy.

Some of them still show respect for him, he was their role model, a commoner who could be the best of the academy, but not everyone was the same, there were people who envied him for his past accomplishments but could not do anything about it because he was out of their reach.

Now that he became one of them, they started to sneer at him, "Look, our Trashy Genius is here!" one student said.

He came toward Char with two other students who followed him like his lackey, they started to shower him with sarcastic words of praise and false adoration.

"Look at him, he looks so handsome, I bet he would look better with skeleton fighting with him," one lackey said in a mocking tone.

"Maybe we should have asked him to make us a summoning circle too so we could summon a skeleton too," the other lackey added.

They laughed at Char mockingly, the first student about to mock him again but Char ignored them and went toward an empty seat.

Char had expected that there was bound to be someone who hates him, the day of summoning had opened his eyes to this possibility and there was no point in getting angry at them, that was what they wanted and he would not give it to them.

Being ignored made them angry, they thought Char was looking down on them, "Get down from your high horse! Do you think you are better than us? You are nothing but trash now!" the leader shouts at him.

It made the whole class silent as his voice was very loud, they looked at Char who was sitting on his seat silently while looking at the other student who shouted at him.

"What do you want?" He asked the student, it made his face turn red in anger and embarrassment.

He pulled up his long sleeve to reveal marks on his arm, ambient mana started to gather in the mark and a horned wolf was summoned beside him.

This made the other student move back as to not get pulled in the fight, horned wolf was one of the best summonses in the class, usually, they would not get assigned to the tenth class.

Char was alarmed by the boy's summoned creature, he was ready to summon his own summoned creature as fighting with it would be better than fighting by himself.

He was about to summon the creature when the classroom door opened to show a tall man, he was even taller than the door with a body full of muscle that he needed to duck down before coming into the class.

If not for his clear human feature then they would have thought that he was a creature rather than a human.

He looked around the class with a frown on his face, coupled with his tall and muscled body, he looked very scary.

"Who let you summon this thing?" he looked at the boy who summoned his creature with a frown. He comes toward the shivering wolf and picks it up by the head.

The wolf whimpered and shivered but the man did not let it go, he crushed its head lightly with pure physical strength and let it fall to the floor before it turned into ashes and disperse back into mana.

"Get to your seat, the class is starting," he told everyone and went to the front of the class, the students were silent while they scramble toward their seats in fear.

Char looked at the man with admiration, if he could be as strong as the man, then he would be able to beat creatures with his bare hand.

The class started with the teacher introducing himself as  Mr. Brown, usually, the teacher would show them their summoned creature to show what they should be working toward, but he did not show it to them.

The introduction continued with each student introducing themselves and their summoned creature, unlike the teacher, they only needed to tell others what their summoned creature was as they were not allowed to summon their creature without their teacher's permission.

Mr. Brown had shown them what would happen if they summon their creature without permission, even if their creature was immortal, they would need time to gather mana and be resummoned, the stronger the creature, the longer it takes to gather mana to revive them.

The boy who had to pick a fight with Char was called Bob, he summoned a lesser horned wolf and considered to be the one with the most potential in their class.

"From today onward, you will train your summoned creature, at the end of each week we will have a combat training where you will spar with your classmates," Mr. Brown informed them.

The class becomes excited from the prospect of sparring, there is nothing that excites them more than fighting, they wanted to see how strong is their summoned creature.

To these commoners, having a creature already enough. They could lead an easier life, some of their parents sent them to academy only so they could have a summoned creature while getting stronger was secondary.

Bob looked at Char in a provocation, he wanted to show the former genius of the academy how he will beat him in a spar.

Char did not bother with the provocation, he focused on the teacher who was drawing some kind of magic circle on the blackboard.

Once he finished drawing, Mr. Brown turned back to address the class, "Can anyone tell me what this is?" he asked the class.

Before anyone else could answer, Bob already raised his hand in gusto, "It's a magic circle!" he answered excitedly.

"Incorrect," the muscled man answered with a frown, "and the next time anyone answering please wait for me to let you talk," he warned everyone with a glare.

"Anyone know what this is?" he asked again, this time no one tried to answer as they thought it was a magic circle as well.

Char raised his hand, Mr. Brown told him to talk, "I think it is a creature inborn magic circle," he answered with a bit of hesitation as he was not sure.

The teacher nodded with approval, "that's correct, this is a creature inborn magic circle, the magic circle we know is a derivation of this magic circle," he explained to the class.

"in your soul container, you can see a magic circle similar to this, they are your summoned creature's inborn magic circle," he added.

"The purpose of your training is to accumulate mana into your summoned creature's body so you can develop their magic circle."

"They could develop naturally when some criteria were met, but as a summoner you need to be able to change this development to what you wanted, this is the difference between an academy graduate and any random summoner you met on the street," he stated.
