23 Evolved

"You!!!" Robert was about to lose his temper when Char cut him off.

"Are you going to take back your word? Didn't you say them out loud so everyone can hear you? I wonder how they will see you if you actually say the match was not valid," he smirked at the downed boy.

"Fine! Just get down from me. Who cares about this small tournament, you losers can just fight against those at your level! Just five mana crystal is not worth my time here!" Robert gnashed as he pushed Char's sword away from his neck.

He stormed down the arena as he nursed his sore body. The referee only declared Char and Anne as the winner once the boy went down from the arena.

"The winner is Team Anne-Char!" the referee declared.

Char went down from the arena to be greeted by Anne. She was holding her right shoulder as it got hurt from her rough landing.

"Good job! You actually kicked that guy's from his high horse. He can't be so arrogant anymore! People must be laughing at him for losing after his big talk!" she grinned at him.

"Yeah, I bet they are laughing at him!" he replied.

People were indeed talking about their fight, it had attracted a lot of attention as Robert was talking loudly before the fight started.

Everyone heard him looking down on the pair and actually losing, even though it was one against four, people thought he was biting more than he could chew.

"That arrogant boy actually lost against a skeleton summoner and Imp summoner! I thought dragon summoners are very powerful, it turned out they are not as powerful as people made them be!" an audience said.

"Yeah, he was all mighty before the fights started, but in the end, he just talked big. He can't even win against them."

"At first, I thought he was cool. He could move so fast and wield his sword in one hand. But it turns out he could not even kill the skeleton, even after using the dragon breath!" another said.

"Yeah! A Dragon is wasted on an idiot like him! It would be better if I'm the one who gets the dragon!" a man said.

"You are even more stupid than him, I doubt you will do better than him," the man's friend retired at him.

"If that guy just summons his dragon, then he should win easily. He loses because of his arrogance," people sound their disapproval for Robert.

They know that the boy joined the tournament just to flex his strength; he wants to show off his power. Others on his level did not even bother about such a childish act, it was just the boy being immature.

The tournament continued as Char's fight was just a minor event, the other only talked about it for a bit before moving on.

Char and Anne went to rest before their next fight. Both of them had spent a lot of their stamina and mana to beat Robert.

Their second fight was against a pair of boys with spiky boars as they summoned creatures. It was just a low-tier creature and their level was not too high.

Both of them take it easy and able to reserve most of their strength, Char let Anne fight the weaker of the two since she was still injured.

"We are quite lucky, other than meeting Robert, everyone else is not even in the rank. If this continues like this, then we will reach the semi-finals easily," Anne said.

"I don't think so. We are fighting last-year students in our next match. They are at rank 380s, and their summoned creatures have already evolved once. It won't be as easy to beat them," He told her.

"It's ok, my arm got better already, it will not hinder me anymore. We just need to beat their summoned creature as quickly as we can," she reassured him.

Summoned creatures would evolve every ten levels, but the first evolution was still categorized as a common creature as they only gain a bigger mana pool compared to before evolution. It did not allow them to have more magic circles or give them special ability.

The creature's body usually would not change much since most creatures just evolved from their lesser form to their complete form.

"Alright, it's our turn. This is our last match for the day, so we can just go all out," He said as they went toward the arena.

Two older boys were waiting for them in the arena, they already summoned their summoned creature by their side.

"Goblins? There are no lesser goblins, so they should evolve to a hobgoblin or goblin mage. Since both of them still look like a normal goblin, then they must be a goblin mage," Char analyzed.

Once they reach the arena, both of them summon their creature right away. They were just waiting for the referee to sign them to start fighting.

They quickly try to close the distance once the fight starts as goblin mages are superior in long-range battles.

The goblins raised their club and pointed it toward them; it glowed in blue light before a ball of ice and fire appeared on the staff; it flew toward the skeleton and the imp, respectively.

The ice ball went toward the imp while the fireball went to the skeleton since skeletons were weak against fire and Imps were weak against the ice element.

The skeleton activates its physical boost magic, and it actually cuts the fireballs in half while the imp uses its trained leg to dodge the projectile with relative ease.

"Skelly go after the ice goblin, let the imp fight the fire goblin!" Char instructed as they would not let the enemy choose the term of the fight.

The goblin has the same limitation as them, they could only have a limited number of magic circles so they can't have both fire and ice magic.

"They are using melee weapons while their magic is for ranged battle, I have a bad feeling about this," Char lamented as he went after the summoner.
