16 Arena

"Damn it! This quick little T-Rex!" Char blocked a kick with his arm.

Unlike with the Skeleton, Char only needed to kill the Imp normally, but out of his expectation, it was so quick on its feet.

"my right arm is so numb, I should have worn arm guards on both arms instead of one arm!" he lamented as his right hand got bruised from the Imp's kick.

He channeled his mana toward his regeneration magic circle so it would heal his arm, Char was sure the bone got fractured from the kick.

"And it has not used its magic yet, if it uses its metal kick, then I'm sure that its kick will give me a broken arm!"

The metal kick magic would turn the Imp's foot as hard and heavy as metal, even though it would not increase the impact, the added density alone would increase the damage it could deal.

"If it fights my skeleton, then I can just order it to give it a middle finger as present but I'm not crazy enough to use that magic, I'm not a masochist," he lamented as fighting a summoned creature without his own was still a tall order.

Char swung his sword at the Imp, only for it to take a step back before sending a kick at his chest. He hurriedly used his left arm to block the kick, but it suddenly became heavier than before.

The imp's foot had turned into metal as it activated its magic, it caused the arm guard to cave in and send him back a few steps.

"Ack!" he screamed as his left arm got broken by the kick. He hurriedly used his sword to cut at the armguard's strap to take it off as the bent arm guard bent his broken arm unnaturally.

He hurriedly used his regeneration magic to heal the broken bone. It will take a few more seconds for him to heal, but did not back down.

Char looked at the Imp that stopped attacking him as if it had won, "Continue, Don't stop unless I say so," he told the Imp.

Although he was not its summoner, the Imp was smart enough to know when to stop and follow the order. If its training partner wanted to continue, then it could only comply.

Char's left arm still moved awkwardly as it had not fully healed, but he continued to fight.

"This Imp's movement is always changing, each move is interconnected with another move, there is no interval between each move!" he analyzed.

The fight continued, but he was the only one to get injured. Other than its quick attack, the Imp's footwork was better than Char's. It could dodge his attack perfectly.

"I need to make my attack flow as well, I can't give it a chance to counterattack each time!" he chose a path to take.

He could not do that instantly, but at least he knew what to reach and try to achieve. When he succeeded, then his swordsmanship would improve greatly.

On the other hand, he was not the only one suffering, Anne was having a hard time against the skeleton too.

Each time she attacks, the skeleton would gladly receive it in exchange for landing a hit on its own. She used her foot to block by activating her metal kick to harden her foot, but she could not block everything.

Her body was bruised all over from the skeleton's training sword, it frustrated her as she knew if it was a real sword instead of a training sword, then she would have a nasty cut all over her body.

"Huh? Is it holding back? Why did she not get sent to the infirmary from a broken bone?" Char wondered.

After a few hours, Char finally got used to the Imp's movement and improved the flow of his sword. He parried a kick with his sword.

The impact caused his sword to be pushed up, and the imp continued with another kick toward his face, but Char purposely parried that way to allow him to enter the proper stance.

He took a step back, so the kick missed him by an inch before he widened his stance and swung his sword downward.

He activated the physical boost magic just in time before the sword touched the Imp; while mana was covering his arm and sword when it split the Imp in two.

"Taking a step back is really convenient," he smirked as he remembered how the Imp always took a step back and counter-attack.

He was about to see how Anne was doing against his skeleton when he found the girl was watching him fight.

"Eh? Did you finish already?" He asked.

"No, I ran out of time and it will take too long to recover since I broke half of its bone already. Can you summon it once more for me?" she explained.

"Well, sure, but you will need to break the rest of the bone first before I can re-summon it," he told the girl.

Actually, he could just tell the skeleton to suicide with the mana gathering magic, but he was keeping it a secret.

"Alright, wait a minute," she said before she re-summoned her own creature and told the Imp to break all the skeleton's bones.

"By the way, I'm sorry for what I said. Your skeleton is really strong," she apologized.

"No, I'm sorry too. Your Imp is not bad. How did it become so good?" he asked her out of curiosity.

"Oh, we just have a lot of fights with different opponents. When the class is over, I always take it to the arena to fight against students from other classes. I'm trying to increase my rank while getting stronger, but I'm still stuck at the lower rank," she said bashfully.

"I see, fighting against all kinds of people certainly helps... Anyway, let's continue our training," he said as he summoned his skeleton once more.

Char continued his training while thinking of visiting the arena, "If I went there then I will meet my former friend, I wonder how their attitude is going to be," he wondered.
