6 Getting to Know Each Other

The sun was already shining inside from the window when I opened my eyes. I was still in bed and stretched my body as I always do when I wake up. I stood up and passed by a full length mirror and had a shock of my life. When I was fully woken up from the shock did I remember my current situation.

Just yesterday I woke up inside the game I was playing and I am inside the body of Rosaline De Falon, a twelve year old girl and the only daughter of the duke of De Falon of the Draconian Empire. Yesterday night I was just engaged to the male protagonist of the game, Vladford Heathfield. He is the sole heir to the duchy of Heathfield and the bearer of the flames of the fire bird.

Last night, the male protagonist and I were talking how we would like to get to know each other. The male protagonist and I have talked to my father and asked if it was okay to spend a few days longer here in the duchy of Hearhfield so that I could go sightseeing. The male protagonist's father the duke was very welcoming of the idea and thus today I have a picnic with the male protagonist.

"My lady…" Priscilla, my personal maid came inside the room. "You woke up rather early today. Are you excited with your outing with your fiancé today?"

"More of nervous, I guess." I replied.

"No worries, my lady." Priscilla replied. "Just leave it to me. I will make you the most beautiful lady in the entire duchy."

"Oh… I doubt that." I said with certainty.

It is still early but the female love interest Hilna will grow up to be the most beautiful in the continent.

I was bathed and dolled up by Priscilla as usual. Because this would be a picnic, I was dressed for the occasion. I light yellow dress with daisies printed all over.

"You look stunning, my sweet plum." My father said when he saw me.

"Thank you for the compliment, father." I replied with a smile.

"I cannot believe that you are already a lady now." My father started to be teary eyed. "And you are now engaged. Thinking of it, you can be married after your debut in high society. Huhuhu." He started to cry.

"Do not cry father." I tried to console him. "I am still your little girl."

'I am literally still a little girl in my twelve year old body.' I thought. 'Why are the people in medieval times marry early? This body is practically young. This is child abuse back in my world.' I scoffed inwardly.

"Of course. You will always be my little girl." My father said. "My sweet plum."

"Will you be coming with us, father?" I asked.

"I am afraid not." My father replied. "I have business with Vladford father and so we cannot accompany you. But the maids and knights will be there to chaperone you young ones. I believe the young lady Hilna will be joining you as well as Vladford's friend Jacob."

"Jacob?" I repeated.

"Yes. Do you remember him?" My father asked. "He is one of the son's of a vassal family of the duchy. He is being groomed to be Vladford's right hand."

"Oh…" I replied.

The male protagonist of the game has his so called sidekick. And it is none other than Jacob, the male protagonist's best friend. He would be a pillar for the male protagonist. He will become a shield and also a friend in the male protagonist's hardships in the future. If I am not mistaken, he has an unrequited love for the female love interest. His love would never be revealed especially after he sees that male protagonist and the love interest's love blooming.

'Poor fellow.' I pitied.

"I would love to meet him." I said.

"Then off you go." Father said. "It wouldn't be good to keep them waiting now would we."

"Yes, father." I said. "Take care." I kissed him on the cheek as goodbye.

"Have fun." Father replied.

**

The carriage doors open at the gates of the dukes estate. I was about to get off when I see a young man approach. The young man has dark brown hair and green eyes. I know exactly who this person is.

"Good day, my lady." He greeted me with courtesy. "I am Jacob Duval of the house Duval, a vassal house of the duchy of Heathfield. I am also the young lord Vladford's friend."

"Oh, hello lord Jacob." I replied courteously. "I am Rosaline De Falon of house De Falon. It is nice meeting you."

"Let me escort you, my lady." Jacob offered his hand. "The young lord is still preparing some of our provisions for the picnic as of the moment."

"Yes, of course." I took his hand and came down the carriage.

We walked towards the open yard of the estate where I can see what they call 'provisions' are being prepared.

"Um… aren't we only going for a picnic?" I asked. "Why are there so many provisions that it looks like we are camping for the night?" I asked.

There are at least three wagons worth of provisions. I believe one was food, the others I do not know exactly.

"I told you we do not need that." Vladford said.

I can see he was already dressed for the picnic. He was in a rather casual attire than last nights formal one. He was like a prince last night, but the casual attire today did not diminish his handsomeness. He still has the male protagonist's halo shining behind him.

"But you wouldn't know, right?" Hilna said. "Even of we cannot go hunting, at least we can have an archery game." She said while holding a bow and arrows.

"But we do not know of Rosaline knows how to use that." Vladford replied. "She is a noble lady of the Draconian Empire. She is a proper lady that grew up with elegance and finesse."

I blushed hearing the male protagonist thinking of me as a prim and proper lady.

"It is like you are telling me I am not a proper lady." Hilna pouted her lips in annoyance.

"It's not like that, it's just…" Vladford was at the loss of words. I was happy to see the male protagonist and his love interest bickering that I giggled softly.

"Hah, I apologize bout this my lady." Jacob who was beside me sighed. "These two can be childish sometimes." He shook his head but his eyes trailed towards Hilna and tested on her.

'Oh…' I realized that Jacob already has blooming feelings for the female love interest. Maybe it is just a bud for now.

"It's okay lord Jacob." I replied. "They are fun to watch."

"That is good to hear." Jacob said. "Hey you two. Do not keep the lady waiting." He called out to the two.

The male protagonist and his love interest's eyes darted our way. Vladford walked towards us in huge strides and was with us in no time.

"I am sorry to keep you waiting, my lady." Vladford said. He took my hand and kissed its back as a sign of greeting to a fiancée. "It is good to see you again." He smiled courteously.

"Please, call me Rose." I said and smiled. "We will be getting to know each other from now on, so I guess it is okay to drop the formalities" I said with a smile.

"Then… Rose." Vladford said.

"Thank you, Vlad." I replied. The male protagonist blushed with the mention of his name.

"Hey, Vlad!" Hilna ran towards us. "You just left me there hanging after seeing your beautiful fiancée. Good day to you Rose."

"Good day to you too, Hilna." I replied with a smile.

"Wait, you two are in the first name basis?" Vladford looked quite annoyed.

"Why, of course." Hilna grinned. "Rose and I became close friends last night. Right, Rose?"

"Yes, we sure did." I giggled.

"By the way, do you know at archery Rose?" Hilna asked.

"I am afraid not." I replied.

"Told you…" Vladford replied. "She is a proper lady than you, Hilna."

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever." Hilna was giving Vladford a rolling eye glance. "But, do you want to learn. Vlad here can teach you how to do archery. He is the best in the whole duchy."

"Hilna…" Vladford was about to scold Hilna.

"Well, I would love to learn…" I said. "… if that is okay with you, Vlad?"

"O-Of course!" Vladford replied instantly. "Then I will teach you how."

"Thanks." I replied with a happy smile on my face.

It is my first time to hold a bow in my hand. I have always dreamed of learning one day, I just did not have the time in my world to do so.
