5 Memories

I got into the luxurious car again with a team of knights and the girl who accused me to be a hero.

When we all sat down on the black leather car seats, the girl reluctantly started to explain her situation. "I have this side effect from the disease that my memory gets reset every year since I was cured."

My village was famed for its booming trading industry that it could be almost be as prosperous as Lorenz city as it surrounded by the great blue sea.

I was wearing my favourite honey brown skirt with my pink blouse and white slippers as I walked with the pleasant wind rummaging through my cherry red hair.

I picked up my woven hay basket in my front yard as I went out to the local market to take care of mother's errands.

Mother used to be the one that went to the market, however it all changed when she started to cough red splotches of blood after she was lying down in bed when she started feeling unwell from the illness that turned severe three days ago.

But, my family wasn't that surprised. A lot of our neighbors have caught the same illness that became eventually very serious that it was almost life threatening. Since the illness spread like wildfire in the entire village, a few months later, there was not one person who did not have the strange illness.

However, since the villagers needed to work in order to buy the medicine for their families, everyone who didn't transition to the later parts of the sickness resumed working like normal.

I was still in the 'first stages' of the uncanny illness, so I handled all the family errands with my older brother who helped out occasionally as he worked as a sailor.

Today, my brother would be going to another village with his ship. So I was alone while heading toward the market today.

But, as the wind started to grow stronger and stronger, I felt my body being almost swept away by the breeze while my ears started to ring from high whistles of the wind.

My head was throbbing with a sudden headache and I gave up on trying to walk any further toward the market.

When I was about to faint from all the awful noise and the stabbing pain near my forehead, a person wearing a white robe came towards me and yelled out, "This person is near the later stages of the sickness! Isolate her!"

The next place I opened my eyes, I saw the person with white hair and opaque eyes wearing a white suit and shoes standing in front of me while facing my way. I was in a tidy clean house with hints of the medicine scattered all over the nearby table.

"Where am I?" I asked the person in front of me.

"My house. I barely managed to cure your illness before you were about to die."

"I remember that I was still in the first stages of the illness?"

"There are some cases where it gets worse dramatically all of the sudden."

"But what that person didn't tell me was that I would lose all my memories after this point in my life in exchange for my life." The girl explained sadly.

When the girl was about to continue on with her story, the driver interrupted her as he yelled out, "There's a group of suspicious people chasing after this car!"

We all redirected our attention to the group of five people riding horses to chase us very closely behind.

When they were about ten metres away from the car, they each pulled a bow to try to puncture the wheels.

"Is there any way we can look closer to the group of people chasing after us?" I asked while trying to remain calm.

The knight sitting beside me pulled out a pair of binoculars from his pocket and passed it onto me.

I looked inside the binoculars to try to observe what these suspicious people were doing in detail.

However, instead of seeing a group of delinquents, I saw aunt Gilda and her family who lived a few blocks away from my house in my village.
