4 How I "Fought" a Group of Ferybers

I went into the boundary of the forest and broke a tree branch from a nearby tree. I didn't have any weapons, so if I had to fight, I would use this tree branch.

Currently, the ferybers were about twenty metres away from me. Since they were running after the car to absorb the delicious mana of the driver, maybe they would ignore me if I stay hidden inside the forest?

I quickly hid behind a nearby bush as I saw the ferybers were now about ten metres away. However, as the ferybers got closer and closer, I noticed a young girl with cherry red hair and hazel eyes wearing a red one-piece dress and boots chasing after the demons.

"Finally I caught up to you!" The girl yelled.

The girl pulled out her dagger and infused her mana with the dagger. She stabbed the ferybers in their vital places while dodging their breaths of fire. Her magnificence dance was reflected in the blood of the demons with her lively eyes and smile until all the ferybers were eliminated.

But, after defeating all the demons, the girl stopped moving and suddenly collapsed onto grass resembling a frail wilted flower.

I ran towards the girl to check if she was alright. When I tried to check her pulse to check if she was still alive with her pale face and her body full of scars and bruises, the girl opened her eyes.

"Are you my saviour?" The girl asked with her remaining breath.

I wondered what she was saying, after all she was the one that defeated all those demons. I tilted my head in confusion while she continued, "You're the one who saved me from those demons right?"

"No- , actually you were the one who -"

"You're really strong! Like a hero!" The girl interrupted.

The girl's eyes started to glitter in admiration while her sickly condition was no longer to be seen.

While I was distracted by this odd misunderstanding, a group of knights hired by the government came to us with a car. "Are you two alright?" A knight asked.

The knights looked like they were in their twenties while wearing their navy blue military uniform with the royal family's crest on the back of their capes.

"Yes! When I opened my eyes, I saw all these demons already slain by this strong hero who is right beside me!"

"Well actually-"

The group of knights stared at me frozen in shock, while one knight interrupted me, "Really! Then how about you join us in our expedition while we head towards Lorenz city as a final destination!"

Why did this seem like déjà vu? Wouldn't I be like a freeloader, since I couldn't fight nor have any abilities in magik?

I did not want to be a freeloader anyways because I felt like there would be a high chance of getting kicked out as a sacrifice like last time. So, I said, "I'm sorry, but I refuse, I would hate to be a burden to your team as a freeloader."

"Of course you wouldn't be a freeloader! You'd be fighting with us, since you were the one who defeated all those b-level demons that even few people in our team can't defeat with their mana." The knight responded in great enthusiasm.

Yikes. I better clear up this misunderstanding right away!

"Like I said, I'm not - "

"No need to be humble!" Another knight said.

"That's right! When I opened my eyes not knowing where I was and saw myself surrounded by the blood of demons, it was really assuring to see my hero right in front of me to check how I was doing," The girl pouted.

The knight smiled and grabbed my arm to lead to into the car, "I'll escort you into the car."

Don't I have a choice in this? Please listen to other people before making your own assumptions!
