6 Familiar Thieves

Aunt Gilda and her family liked to spend lavishly in the village as her husband was a one of those child prodigies in making crafts.

Her husband's fame has spread throughout the lands leading to many merchants requesting products from their family workshop at a high price.

However, ever since the people with magik came into existence, many craftsmen became unwanted as the people with magic could make better quality products more efficiently.

So slowly, people in their family workshop got let go and eventually only aunt Gilda's husband was the only one left.

However, people in aunt Gilda's family couldn't change their splendid spending habits. That being the case, aunt Gilda's family fell into poverty the fastest.

Their once strong pride had vanished as aunt Gilda begged the villagers nearby for some help while the villagers themselves were struggling to get by.

This was how the situation was in my village before I had left about four days ago.

Although I was not too surprised, I did not know that their situation would get bad to the point that they would resort to becoming bandits.

Ever since our village fell into poverty, my uncle had shared some of his wealth to other villagers in very disastrous financial situations.

So if Aunt Gilda and her family used that money sparingly, they would somehow survive like my family.

I sighed with seeing the fate of few our villagers while looking outside the window again. When I looked outside, there was the familiar two sons and daughter trying to pull out another bow to puncture a hole in the tire.

Since they were people that I grew up with, it would be a shame if they went to jail. Especially Jamie who occasionally used to share her delicious butter cookie parfaits when they were wealthy.

That's when a great thought came across to me: 'Maybe I can convince them to stop before they go to jail.'

"Stop the car!" I yelled to the knights.

The knights looked to each other in confusion as one of the worst cases were to stop the car and get all their stuff potentially stolen.

However they listened, as the girl reminded them with glittering eyes still full of admiration that I was the one who defeated the ferybers in the midst of great danger.

I got out of the car and ran towards Aunt Gilda and her family. Maybe they felt much pity to not shoot the girl running towards them.

Perhaps I resembled too much of the other people in the village with my matted brown hair and rags that I currently wore.

When I was far enough from the car that the people inside it couldn't hear me, I scolded Aunt Gilda, "How could you resort to thieving?"

"Emilia!" Everyone yelled in surprise.

"You know that there are knights and a person who has a great deal of mana inside that car!" I yelled.

"There's a big chance that you may go to jail because of this, possibility even obtain the degree to work to your death without any freedom!" I said in worry for my fellow villagers.

Aunt Gilda and her family members looked toward me in great shame, until Jamie finally admitted with great tears in her eyes, "We didn't have a choice! We were in great debt and if we did not resort to stealing, they claimed we may even lose our freedom and possibly made into slaves."

Ahhh. Slaves, that would be the one thing worse than jail, death or worked till death.
