So I decided to join a club

After the 'confession', nothing really happened or seemed to change. Donsu was still getting bullied and I saw no sign of him trying to resist or put up a fight. So it was all empty words after all… I found it sad considering how he must have worked up the courage to come up with the idea of fighting back and even telling me that he will do it, but well, I know how it goes. You imagine yourself fighting back countless times, and in your imagination, you somehow miraculously find a way to defeat the bad guy. But back in reality you are kneeling on the floor and getting laughed at. The only revenge that ever happens is in your mind.

A few days passed uneventfully and it was Friday lunchtime.

"Jenn, someone is looking for you"

A girl named Yelim came to tell me just as I finished my lunch and was putting the lunch box away.

"Who?"

"Just go out and see"

Why is she giggling?

As I went out I saw many eyes follow me to see what was happening.

Just outside the classroom, I saw Lee, the captain of the Track and Field club.

"Ah there you are", Lee said with delight.

There was a small crowd outside the classroom standing around checking us out with curious eyes.

"Oh hi, Captain…?"

"Lee"

"Right, Captain Lee"

"I came here because I heard today is the day you'll decide and submit the club application form"

"Ok…?"

"Are you applying to the Track and Field club?"

"I'm sorry, but I'm not"

"Oh please, you MUST join Track and Field. We have a regional competition coming up and just with a little bit of practice and polishing you may actually win something"

"Thank you, that's very flattering. But I'm really not a sporty type…"

"That's impossible. You are the most talented first-year I've seen in my entire three years of high school"

"I'm sorry, but I really can't do it"

"Just look at your legs. Firm, tight, strong. Your legs are perfect!"

"Captain, could you please stop looking at my legs like that? It's kinda creepy"

Some of the girls standing around were giggling, but I also heard some murmuring of discontent.

Ah, that's right. Captain Lee must be a popular guy. He's tall, handsome, and sporty, he just looks so fit. I never had to care about these things before, but right now I might be actually making some girls jealous. I do not want to be hated like that. I have to get out of this situation quickly.

"Sorry, but no means no. I'm really sorry"

With that, I turned around and started to walk back to the classroom.

"Jenn, please!"

To my, and everyone's shock Lee chased after me and grabbed me by my wrist. It wasn't in a forceful way, but more like in a pleading way. I'd never had any real physical contact with a guy before since I became Jenn, and for some reason now this just made my heart skip a beat.

"Aye aye, Captain, let her go now"

Huh?

I looked over and there was Hechan standing there, walking toward us in his usual swaggering strides that just oozed out 'I'm a bad boy' vibe.

"Who are you? This does not concern you", Lee shot back at Hechan, still holding onto my wrist.

"Me? I'm your bad news", Jesus Hechan, that's so cringy.

Lee finally let go of my hand and squared up to Hechan. They were almost exactly the same height.

"Are you challenging your senior?"

"What if I said yes?"

"Try me"

I then saw Hechan take out his hands from his pocket.

Oh man, this is gonna become a full-blown fistfight. I don't want to be the one causing this.

Also, to me, it was sickening to see Hechan white knighting like this, the bastard that used to bully me is now trying to act cool? I'm not gonna give you that chance.

"Stop!"

That made both of them take a step back and look at me.

"Look, the captain here was just trying to convince me to join his club, okay?"

"But I can't let this slime hold your hand like that", Hechan shrugged.

"What's it got to do with you?!", I snapped.

"Cuz I got my eyes on you, girl". Wink.

What the hell?

There was now a big crowd surrounding us and I could hear a few gasps.

I didn't know what to think anymore, hearing these words come out of Hechan's mouth, the one that made me suffer so much in the past. But I quickly recomposed and reminded myself that Hechan just talks a lot of shit in general. I shouldn't make any big issue out of it. Heck, if anything, I could actually just do exactly what he doesn't want me to do. How about that? Ha!

"Captain, I will join the track and field club"

"Seriously? Tsk-", Hechan expressed his annoyance.

"You are not gonna tell me what to do or what not to do", oh man, this is the first time I talk back to this guy! Go me!

"As you wish. But hey, Captain. I'll see you around"

"Any time, kid"

Hechan turned around and walked away, and Lee suddenly grabbed both of my hands again. Jesus, stop doing this to me already.

"Thank you, Jenn! You won't regret it. You will do fantastic!"

"Alright, captain. Sorry for the trouble"

"No problem at all-. Make sure you hand in the form today to our club supervisor teacher. You need to be a member of the club to register for any future competition and trust me, you will be more than qualified to participate"

"I get it, now could you let me go please?"

Lee then realized he was holding my hands, and quickly let go and forced a smile to hide his embarrassment.

"I'll see you at the club then, Jenn!"

"See you, captain"
