15 Let's Make Some Bread

Chu Fan had asked for a pair of silver chopsticks that he'd been using earlier that day to eat.

"What?! Now's not the time to be joking Chu Fan. Have a little respect for my eldest royal brother Gang."

The two bickered in whispers until Yao Lingyan threw the chopsticks at Chu Fan.

"Fine! Have your chopsticks. I won't be the one nursing you when you lose an arm."

Chu Fan could only shake his head and face Yao Gang, who wore a puzzled expression.

"Chu Fan, I'm not butchering a cow for you to eat. What is with the chopsticks?"

Chu Fan examined the chopsticks and then scratched his head.

"I only need chopsticks for this battle."

The crowd gasped at how much of this battle Chu Fan seemed to care nothing about. This was a duel with weapons, a small slip-up meant a lost limb if a person was lucky enough not to lose their life.

Yao Gang took offense to Chu Fan's words. He had just entered the seventh level of Qi Condensation recently, breaking the record in the northern nation for youngest cultivator to reach the seventh level of Qi Condensation. To have someone of the mere fourth level of Qi Condensation request chopsticks as a weapon, hurt his pride as a capable warrior.

"You dare mock me, a prince?"

He charged before Chu Fan could further explain himself.

Chu Fan quickly held his chopsticks in his left hand as he noticed that Yao Gang was right-handed.

Yao Gang swiped down with all his might as he aimed for Chu Fan's right shoulder.

Chu Fan parried but Yao Gang's qi covered saber, but the saber sent a sword wave past Chu Fan's defense tearing his shirt and cutting him slightly.

Yao Gang was astonished to see Chu Fan actually parry his attack.

Chu Fan in the past six months had also progressed his mastery of the Spirit Sword Formation to the fourth level. At this level, he would be able to turn other objects into swords as well as summon more lifelike spirit blades.

He wrapped his chopsticks in qi giving it a yellow glow that could light up even the darkest of rooms.

Chu Fan knew that this match was one he couldn't draw out for too long. If he did not go all out in this match, Yao Gang was not to be taken lightly.

Yao Gang began to swing at faster intervals and Chu Fan blocked and dodged what he could as he was slowly pushed back near the edge of the stage. He would get scrapes and tears all over his clothing as the sword waves slipped by his defenses.

While Chu Fan feared the thought of losing one of his limbs; in a desperate thoughtless action, his instincts told him to run forward. So he charged forward in a burst of speed, like a raging rhinoceros.

Yao Gang, saw the image of a stampeding Frost Browed Boar when he saw Chu Fan charge at him. This made him pause for a split second as his heart rate increased.

He started smiling, as he felt a rush of adrenaline flood his body. The thrill of doing battle and coming near danger made him feel alive.

"Hahaha, come! Show me what you've got, Chu Fan! What makes you worthy of my sister!?"

He swung at Chu Fan faster now and rained down a slew of sword lights at Chu Fan.

Chu Fan grit his teeth as he charged towards the battle crazed Yao Gang, blocking and gritting as he received a numerous amount of cuts. His blood began to boil and he coughed up a mouthful of blood.

His heart and mind only knew one thing at this moment, "Survive and move forward!"

*Snap*

*Crackle*

*Pop*

"Boom!"

A sound came form the stage, spooking the spectators. Ma Kuo's eyes lit up as he knew that sound.

"A breakthrough mid-battle. Which one of those children is it?"

The crowd looked at Yao Gang, expecting it to be the one who was immersed in the heat of battle. But no, it wasn't him.

So this only meant one thing. Everyone shifted their heads towards Chu Fan and were stunned silly.

Chu Fan's qi burst forth and formed a visible thick blanket of qi around him, making him glow a radiant multi-colored hue.

The pill that Ma Kuo had Yao Lingyan feed him earlier was one that helped further a person's cultivation. And in the heat of battle, the pill was able to activate its' property and force Chu Fan to enter the fifth level of Qi Condensation.

He had already come to the very limit of the fourth level, he was holding himself back as to not draw attention to himself.

He was picking up speed as he was know knocking the incoming sword lights away like they were nothing but annoying flies wondering about his face.

He came to stop and stand right in front of Yao Gang, pulling him out of his fit of crazed giddiness.

Yao Gang took a step back and prepared to swing his blade again, only to have Chu Fan come close to his face again and intercept his saber.

Chu Fan gripped the saber with his chopsticks and motioned his wrist in a clockwise rotation.

*Clink*

The saber shattered apart before Yao Gang could react.

Yao Gang let go of the sword hilt in his right hand and threw a punch at Chu Fan, which was stopped mid-air by Chu Fan's left hand.

Chu Fan flung his chopstick that was still holding the broken saber blade and pressed it against Yao Gang's neck. Blood began to leak as the cold sharpened piece of steel barely made contact with his skin.

Yao Gang looked down at the blade pressed against him and started to smile as he returned the focus of his gaze towards Chu Fan's serious face.

"Hahaha, I've lost. Chu Fan, you've proven yourself to be worthy of my sister this time. It would be my honor to be your royal brother-in-law."

Chu Fan smiled at Yao Gang as he breathed a sigh of relief. He didn't think this battle-crazed individual knew how to forfeit; and he let go of the blade tossing it aside and putting his chopsticks away.

"Sorry, brother-in-law. I didn't mean to injure you."

Yao Gang laughed and patted Chu Fan on the shoulder.

"What's a battle if a person goes in with the hopes of coming out unscathed? Besides, I seem to have scuffed you up more, compared to my tiny scratch."

The emperor stood up with a pleased smile.

"Hm, it pleases me to announce the victor of this duel to be my future son-in-law, Chu Fan."

The crowd cheered and celebrated Chu Fan's victory.

He was the underdog, and many of them had made him out to be a senseless and tacky comedian who didn't know what fear was. But, they had grown to see that he was a person strong enough to back his claims.

Chu Fan walked offstage to be surrounded by the many performers and guests rooting for him.

In front of the crowd stood a worried and teary-eyed Yao Lingyan.

"Look at you. We just bought you these new set of robes and you've already turned them into rags. Oh, I already got an ointment from the royal physician, let's apply them right now so those wounds before they scar."

Chu Fan could only smile and comply, had had countless dreams in which he received help getting ointment applied with the help of a fair maiden.

The emperor stood by with complex emotions as he couldn't handle having his daughter mature so much in front of him. The last time he saw her, she was more concerned about eating sweets and giving her brothers and servants a hard time.

He was comforted by his three wives.

"It pains us all to see our most treasured princess grow up so fast, but I believe that we can trust this little fatty with our child."

"Yes, our Yao Lingyan has come to find her chosen. Let's be happy for her."

"Like her mother, she's come to find love in a young smart-mouthed trickster. I hope that these two will have the happy ending I was not able to have."

The party ended after a while of celebrating. Everyone left the grand hall and made their way home.

Chu Fan returned to his guest room where he felt tired, yet he was restless.

He took out the mandarin duck parchment paper and gold chopsticks from four years ago. Tonight he could not stop thinking about her, Huang Mudan.

He always thought of her when he mentioned matters of love and marriage. The two were engaged at a young age, according to Chu Fan.

Huang Mudan still wrote every once in a while, but the amount she had to say was much less now that she knew it was Chu Fan she was writing to. This pained his heart, but he chose to persist and be the sworn brother that he was.

He wrote to her first.

"Huang Mudan, how have you been? Have you been eating good? When we see each other next time, I'll treat you to all the delicious foods I've made over these past years. Also, make sure to stay healthy and cultivate well. I'll show you how powerful I've become since the last time we saw each other. Till then, take care of yourself. I look forward to seeing you again."

He sighed as he put his brush down and awaited a response.

He waited for three hours, but not a response was written.

"Ah, she must be busy with her cultivation. Or perhaps she was sent on a mission by the sect."

He convinced himself with a plausible excuse and rubbed his groggy eyes as he made his way to bed.

He laid down to rest and ended the night on a somber note, with a window open for moon to keep him company.

He dreamed of nothing, making the night pass by in the blink of an eye.

He woke up with bags under his eyes. A servant brought him a pail of water and a fresh set of robes so that he could wash up and get dressed.

He was about to set foot outside the doorways when the second royal consort, Lee Ting, arrived in his courtyard. She was followed by an entourage of servants carrying food.

He quickly bowed and greeted her.

"Chu Fan offers his greetings to her royal highness. I am honored to be graced with royal consort Lee Ting's presence."

She was amused at Chu Fan's ability to flatter others and laughed. It reminded her of her first love, who was a smart mouthed individual too.

A eunuch came forward and spoke.

"Royal Consort, has come here today to gift you with her personally made breakfast. Thank her royal highness Chu Fan."

Chu Fan bowed.

"I made breakfast for Yao Lingyan and saw this as an opportunity to meet the boy who declared himself to be my son-in-law. Yao Lingyan will arrive shortly, so let's get seated."

The servants began to set up the table in Chu Fan's room. And they brought in a large selection of foods.

Chu Fan sat down with the royal consort Lee Ting and the servants were ordered to leave the room, giving the two some privacy.

They discussed and laughed about the situations which Chu Fan and Yao Lingyan had found themselves in when they first met.

Lee Ting laughed like she had not for a long time now. She laughed until she cried.

Eventually Yao Lingyan arrived and saw her mother laughing, which warmed her heart.

They spent the rest of the morning discussing Yao Lingyan's childhood and how naughty she was compared to right now; Chu Fan was happy to get new material he could use to tease her with.

When it was noon, Chu Fan wondered around the palace grounds aimlessly as he had many thoughts running about his mind.

"Does this palace have any cold palaces considering it's cold all year? Does the emperor hang a lantern at the entrance of whomever he's staying with? How grand is the royal kitchen?" he thought to himself.

Yao Lingyan was busy talking with her mother about the sect and female matters so Chu Fan was left to entertain himself. Though he didn't feel like cultivating at the moment.

He eventually found himself in a grand courtyard with a long staircase leading to a solitary building.

Curious as to where he was, he made his way into the building.

It was a sight to behold, a library of many stories. The scent of sandalwood and jasmine filled the air.

Chu Fan walked in and was immediately lost in thought as he was immersed in the sight of such a grand and stunning library.

He walked until he ran into a desk, the stinging pain of hitting the right corner of a desk bringing him to reality.

"Ahhh.....hisss." he said as he rubbed his left rib cage that bumped into the desk.

A figure emerged from behind the desk with a messy head of hair and disheveled robes.

"Hm?! Who dares disturb my sleep?"

Chu Fan looked up at the person who was speaking and to his awe and amazement, it was the emperor.

The very upstanding and dazzling emperor from last night had made a bizarre transformation overnight.

The emperor noticing who was standing in front of him, quickly got on his two and ran into another room.

He emerged a couple of minutes later all dressed up and carried an air of royalty now.

Chu Fan had already began to wonder about at this point, he was currently browsing the library, which to his shock was all full of cultivation slips and manuals.

He was in the lightness skills section of the library and was browsing for any that might catch his attention. In fact he was looking for any possible hidden compartments or old and seemingly useless manuals in the library.

But to his dismay, the library was spotless, the emperor apparently spent a lot of time here, so the servants knew better than to leave such a place with any speck or trace of dust.

So Chu Fan could only rely on the one person who might have knowledge of any old and seemingly useless manuals of his own collection, the emperor.

By this point, the emperor had already begun searching for the boy who had seen him in such a pitiful looking state earlier.

He had found Chu Fan when the other party was just about to go searching for him as well.

Chu Fan upon seeing the emperor all dressed up now, bowed as he greeted him.

"Greetings royal father-in-law. This loyal subject saw nothing earlier, I was merely lost in thought as I was amazed by the grand collection of manuals here."

The emperor sighed with a twitching eye; he knew Chu Fan meant to keep his sleeping habits a secret but he was still not used to being called "royal father-in-law" by a mere twelve year old fatty.

"Chu Fan! What brings you here today?"

Chu Fan bowed to the emperor as he sensed a little bit of irritation in his words.

"Royal father-in-law, allow me to explain. I was wondering around the palace grounds until I stumbled upon this library. Something drew me to this place; it must have been your aura of grand and noble stature that brought me here. Perhaps the heavens have brought me here in an effort to bond with royal father-in-law."

Chu Fan had already began spouting nonsense, which made the emperor angered and close to tears.

"Ah, but emperor, why are you sleeping here? You have three wives to attend to you and keep you warm at night, why do you sleep in this library?"

The emperor only shook his head as he took a deep breath.

"These matters, you will know in the future. You need not be concerned with my palace affairs."

He waved his finger at Chu Fan, who was smiling sinisterly at the moment as he fought to hold in his laughter.

"Bwahaha! The emperor has these kinds of marital problems also? Tell you what, this little cupid will help you with your problems."

Teetering upon the verge of tears and holding back his killing intent, the emperor could only bite his lips and glare at Chu Fan.

"What would you know about having three wives? It's harder than you think. You have to treat them all fairly. And with my duties as emperor, I can hardly find the time to spend with any of my wives."

Chu Fan started waving his left finger at the emperor as he face-palmed with his right hand.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Royal father-in-law, have you ever heard of the term, 'divide and conquer'? The tactics of war can equally be applied to matters of love and having multiple wives. Let me write you out a plan."

The emperor was intrigued by the sudden insight given by this child before him. He never considered the thought of comparing love to what happens in battlegrounds.

"Yes, I know of what 'divide and conquer' means. But what are you trying to get at? And what about my duties as an emperor? I'll still be too busy to have any time to myself."

Chu Fan gave him dead look.

"Really? Royal father-in-law, don't be so quick to throw in the towel. You have so many resources at your disposal, you've merely yet to use them in an effective manner. At least listen to my strategy first."

The emperor calmed down, he saw reason in Chu Fan's words.

"What do you have in mind then?"

Chu Fan's mood lightened after hearing the emperor's words.

"Ah, but first, emperor, may I receive a gift should this plan of mine work?"

The emperor thought for a bit and sighed.

"Very well, you may request for a gift of your choosing. But should this fail, you'll receive ten flogs to your mouth."

Chu Fan covered his mouth in fear of the thought. But he quickly nodded.

"Alright, deal. I can assure you that this plan will work."

He grabbed a paper and pen.

"First of all royal father-in-law, we need to lessen the amount of time you spend on your duties. And the answer to that lies in your two sons."

The emperor was confused by Chu Fan's words.

"What? What good can those two children do to help me?"

Yao Tianshi was under the impression that his two sons would be like him when he was young and rebellious. And they were, but he was taking the wrong approach with them.

"Royal father-in-law, you are the father to two geniuses. You needn't go and see the royal army for inspection, send Yao Gang. His upbeat and heroic nature will surely bring up your army's morale and desire to train and perfect themselves."

Chu Fan's eyes shown as his excitement grew.

"Yao Cong is a scholarly person, capable of helping you deal with your paperwork and policies. He most likely has a network of poet friends that understand your loyal subjects and how they react to your decisions."

Chu Fan looked at the emperor to see if he rejected his thoughts, but the other party silently sat there listening to the plan. So Chu Fan continued

"You need only attend the meetings with the chancellors and generals. You can have a private meeting with the princes at the end of the week to discuss and update each other over matters of your nation. This can bridge the gap and any misunderstanding between you and your sons, bringing you closer to each other."

Yao Tianshi smacked his forehead.

"Why have I never considered this?"

Chu Fan shook his head.

"Because your two sons were too young at the time. Now, they are reaching the time in which you might start considering which one of them will be the crown prince. Now, let's get back onto matters of your wives."

Yao Tianshi could only nod in agreement.

"Now, I brought up 'divide and conquer' for the purpose that you have three wives. They each have their own different personalities and likes. But I know of a method that will surely bring you closer to each one of them individually."

The emperor was intrigued, so much so that his eyes it up as he grabbed a brush and paper to record Chu Fan's every words.

"Royal father-in-law, I'll have you massage them."

Yao Tianshi was appalled, "It can't be that simple, can it?" he thought to himself.

Chu Fan got up and headed towards the entrance before stopping in his tracks to turn towards Yao Tianshi.

"Royal father-in-law, what are you doing? Let's go.

The emperor was puzzled.

"Go? Where do you want me to go?"

Chu Fan snapped his fingers.

"Ah, right! I forgot to tell you that I'll be personally teaching you this massage method."

The emperor was unconvinced.

"Isn't massaging just tapping the shoulders lightly?"

Chu Fan's eyes widened.

"Royal father-in-law! Massaging is an art form. I'll have you know that people go so far as to beg and pay me for this service I'm about to teach you."

Intrigued, the emperor quickly got up and followed Chu Fan like a horse being lead to water.

They exited the library courtyard and Chu Fan began scratching his head.

"I really don't know my way around."

The emperor was frustrated with Chu Fan.

"You told me to follow you, but you don't even know your way around?"

Chu Fan could only chuckle as he scratched his head in embarrassment.

"Heheh, royal father-in-law. Might you be so kind as to guide us towards the palace kitchen?"

Yao Tianshi was shocked.

"How did you know that I haven't had breakfast yet?"

Chu Fan shook his head and silently followed the emperor.

They ended up at the palace kitchen. It was it's own sight to behold.

Chu Fan stepped inside and could only gasp in its glorious form.

It had everything a chef could ever want: over sixty wok burners with a ventilation array, a grand oven for baking and roasting, wines of all types lined up along the walls, an assortment of fruits and vegetables kept fresh by a time-stopping array, meats in a giant cooler, a vast array of cooking tools, and a dried foods room. It was a building about as big as a gym, all for the purpose of cooking.

"Head Chef, where are you?"

The kitchen turned silent as all the servants cooking turned to see the emperor at the entrance. A rather skinny man walked forward, he had a distinct mole next to the right side of his nose.

"Your loyal subject offers his greetings. What brings the emperor to this kitchen today?"

"We came to e-"

Chu Fan interrupted the emperor.

"I'm teaching the emperor something today. Might I kindly ask for all the servants to exit the kitchen and give royal father-in-law and I some privacy."

The head chef of the kitchen knew of Chu Fan from the gossip he'd been hearing of all morning. He didn't dare disrespect such a person willing to declare himself the son-in-law of the emperor and win duels with the two princes.

"Yes, this lowly chef will comply. You heard the princess' groom-to-be, let's go."

Yao Tianshi could only stand to the side with his mouth twitching.

"This little fatty, the audacity he has to order my loyal subjects around without my permission." he thought to himself.

"Chu Fan what are we really here for?"

The emperor was cranky at the moment. He had spent all night reminiscing about how his most treasured baby princess was growing up too fast, now that she had decided on her future husband already. By the time he had cried himself to sleep, it was near morning. He then slept until noon and skipped breakfast, making him "hangry": hungry and angry.

"I told you royal father-in-law; where here to teach you how to massage. Now, if you can finish this lesson with me, I'll cook you up some food."

Hangry and desperate for food, the emperor agreed.

"Fine, how are you going to teach me to massage?"

Chu Fan gave the emperor a perverse smile while he rubbed his hands together in excitement.

Yao Tianshi shivered as goosebumps arose and the hairs on the back of his neck stood up in alert fear.

"We're gonna be make some bread. Now roll up your sleeves, it's about to get dirty."

Chu Fan went and made of mound of flour mixture for the emperor and himself. He created a crater and poured a mixture of butter, milk, and eggs.

Chu Fan mixed everything together, while utilizing his qi, until it was malleable and stopped touching the emperor's lump of dough.

"Okay, let's begin your lesson. Begin kneading the dough like I do."

Chu Fan began to knead the dough slowly as Yao Tianshi watched and imitated him. The two of them began to emit and insert qi into the dough as Chu Fan demonstrated.

It really did demand one's utmost concentration and technique.

They needed until Yao Tianshi's hands were sore from the manual labor. The two of them took the time to rest alongside the dough for half an hour. They spent that time talking about Yao Tianshi's youth.

Yao Tianshi was a rebellious man for most of his youth, he liked to wonder the world and had wanted to escape his eventual fate a emperor to the Northern Nation.

In his travels, he was saved by Chen Si after being captured and held hostage by a Green Haired Shape-shifting Witch. She had charmed him into her fortress where she attempted to absorb his vital essence.

The two became friends as Yao Tianshi joined Chen Si for some time before he returned home to get married and have kids; effectively tying him down to his fate as Emperor of the Northern Nation.

His stomach began to rumble and Chu Fan quickly ran over to check on the dough which was ready to be baked.

Chu Fan rolled it out and brushed on a mixture of vanilla beans, butter, cinnamon powder, and sugar before rolling it up and cutting it.

He quickly began baking and when it was done, he smothered the baked bread with white icing.

After letting it cool down to a proper temperature, he handed one to the emperor.

"Royal father-in-law, here. Eat this, it's really good. That stomach of yours will surely be pleased with this."

The emperor inspected the bread placed before him thoroughly. He was curious as to what it was.

"What kind of bun is this? You didn't poison this did you. I can easily have you executed, you know."

Chu Fan picked up a cinnamon bun and smiled.

"Hmph! Suit yourself."

Chu Fan bit into the cinnamon bun. When he pulled it apart, the smell of cinnamon gushed into the surrounding air, and the sweet smell of the vanilla was even more pronounced at the moment.

He smiled like a baby eating sugar for the first time.

Yao Tianshi was convinced that this bread was not poisoned, and ate it without hesitation.

His pupils dilated and tears began to fall onto his cheeks. The salt from his tears only served to make the cinnamon bun taste even sweeter.

Never in his life had he tasted food this good before. It was filling and sweet, making him feel full of energy.

The servants who were patiently waiting outside all smelt the cinnamon buns inside and were peaking their heads into the building.

Chu Fan saw them and opened the doors to the kitchen.

"As payment for my taking up your time. The emperor and I have baked some cinnamon buns here for all of us to enjoy. Please, help yourselves to some."

The emperor grabbed a stack and ate in a corner, protecting his share of cinnamon buns.

"Thank you, emperor. I shall treasure this cinnamon bun for the rest of my life."

The servants began to eat, and they too began to cry and savor the delicacy.

Chu Fan finished his cinnamon bun and washed up before realizing something.

"Ah, right. Royal father in law, how about I demonstrate the efficacy of my massaging abilities?"

The emperor nodded in agreement, he truly wondered what made Chu Fan's massaging routine so special.

Chu Fan looked around and grabbed a table and began making modifications to it turning it into a makeshift massage table. He used the leftover dough as a head cushion.

He grabbed the oldest looking servant, who happened to be the head chef's younger brother. Years of hard labor had put a load of built up stress on him, making his face seemingly age progressively to this point.

He laid him down and began kneading into him. But this time, Chu Fan began to infuse his qi into his fist as he massaged and loosened the knots in this man's back and neck.

Soon, the man started to moan as Chu Fan started to rub his sore areas, relieving the stress. Eventually the sounds faded and the man fell asleep and snored.

After Chu Fan was done, he woke the man up.

Everybody was shocked to see that the head chef's brother had miraculously regained his youthful looks. This prompted the group of servants to start crowding Chu Fan.

Yao Tianshi was stunned by the display of skill he had just seen before him. Chu Fan really meant it when he bragged of his skills.

In his past life, he was nicknamed "King Midas" by his mother for his golden touch. His craft was honed from having given many massages to girls who had put him in the friend zone.

"Do me next, I want to surprise my fellow sisters."

"I want to look like I did four years ago, please help me great sage."

The emperor spoke up after seeing that things were getting hectic.

"Quiet! Chu Fan will not massage any of you today. We have other pressing matters to attend to."

He grabbed Chu Fan and lead the way out of the building.

It was not long until Yao Tianshi gave out a royal decree, giving his sons government positions as his pseudo chancellors that lessened his work load. The two princes were not happy at first but happily agreed as it allowed them to spend some time with their royal father.

They made their way to the head architect of the royal palace, where Chu Fan drafted the design of the massage table. It was to be top priority, in which, the emperor wanted it built before the end of the day.

The whole palace was in a panic right now as they had started recreating the cinnamon buns Chu Fan had made earlier today. He had given the recipe for the head chef to make a batch for Yao Lingyan.

The head chef, having ate the cinnamon buns that the emperor had personally made, dubbed them to be called and known as "Angel Buns". It was so that every time a person ate these buns; they knew that it was Emperor Yao Tianshi's hot buns they were eating.

The common-folk would even come to make a song about the cinnamon buns. They would sing, "His buns so sweet, they make one weep. Have a taste of Angel's Buns, so fluffy and scrumptious."

For a year after that, Yao Tianshi would have to live with constant teasing from his three wives whenever they ate cinnamon buns. He would go on to ban the song, despite people singing it in secret, and changing the name of the delicacy to "Little Fat Dragon Buns"

Many other servants were in a rush also as they were in a panic to find a cushion soft and worthy enough for the royal consorts to rest their head on.

Chu Fan went back to browsing the library for the lightness skill he wanted to choose. But he couldn't make his decision just yet.

Yao Tianshi was impatiently awaiting for the massage table. And Chu Fan instructed him of the many oils he could use and how scented candles would help with the mood and setting.

The palace walls had died down when sunset came. The commotion that the buns had started, had spread outside and throughout the kingdom, with the citizen's singing the song of Angel Buns.

The massage table had been made with a silk plush head cushion.

There was a knock at the door of the library, scaring the two people inside.

"It's done, the massage table is here."

Yao Tianshi was giddy and restless as he could not wait to show one of his wives, the new special massage he had learnt today.

Chu Fan bade him farewell as he left the building.

"I wish you the best royal father-in-law. I hope you have fun making bread."

A figure entered the door as Chu Fan muttered those words. It was Yao Lingyan, who had been looking for Chu Fan all day.

"What's this about making bread? Why is royal father making bread?"
