From these, Rayne chose the martial soul of Karma first. After all, among the items in novice pack, this one seems to be most in line with Douluo continent.
Not to mention, his current situation as a spirit master is quite pathetic. His body is innately very weak right now due to an unfortunate event during his birth. Even his martial soul, which was supposed to be a high-level blue silver misty grass, had degraded into a low-level ordinary blue silver grass.
He is even very lucky to have at least half-level rank innate soul power.
After all, low-level martial souls mostly don't have any innate soul power. The probability of low-level martial souls having any innate soul power is less than 0.1%. Not to mention blue silver grass, which is notoriously known as the weakest martial soul.
So now, Rayne is hoping that he can improve his current situation by fusing with this Karma martial soul. Karma Seal is one of the biggest cheating device in Boruto/Naruto series.
Even without the thousands of years of combat experience of the Otsutsuki, there is energy absorption, Space-time Transportation technique, exponential stat boost upon activation, enhanced effectiveness of energy-based techniques, enhanced self-healing, and maybe more.

So, the Karma is without a doubt a Top-level martial soul at the minimum, and most likely even a God-level martial soul, or maybe even beyond it. Fusing with this martial soul will definitely be helpful to his current situation, or so he hopes.

As soon as his finger touched the option of Karma martial soul, a fist sized orb of pure black appeared before him.
The pure black orb sank into his body and Rayne felt his spirit getting entangled with something indescribable.
He felt his mind become extremely clear and his perception of his surrounding environment has changed drastically.
For a few moments, his eyes were shining with various colors.
Mentally, Rayne felt amazing changes.
But physically, he didn't feel any changes.
"That's it?! Where's my complete body transformation? I was hoping a marrow cleansing, at the very least."
Rayne was quite disappointed at the lack of any physical enhancements from the fusion of new martial soul. He could feel his mind being quite active., most likely his mental power has increased a lot in both quality and quantity, due to the fusion of Karma martial soul.
But what he was hoping for is the physical rebirth, repairing all his physical defects.

After seeing the stat screen, even though he was somewhat expecting it, Rayne was sort of dumbfounded at the list of all the abilities brought by this martial soul without even a spirit ring.
Rayne looked at the details of the innate abilities and affinities.
The affinity to all elements and even conceptual attributes of Space and Time. This means he doesn't really have to be too picky about spirit rings other than its age. And because the Karma martial soul is a God-rank martial soul, most of its soul skills are fixed skills regardless of the spirit beasts. Just like the Seraph martial soul.
The special concept – Reincarnation.
There are some special supreme concepts in the Douluo universe such as Life, Destruction, Creation, Good, Evil, etc,.
Reincarnation is most likely such a special concept. It must be very rare as well.
As for the innate abilities…
As the name suggests, Energy Absorption allows the user to absorb energy regardless of it's nature for his own use. Can even absorb another person's soul power to increase one's own soul power rank.
A perfect ability for Dark Spirit Master template. Not that Rayne is planing on being a dark spirit master.
Space-Time Transportation.
By manipulating a specific point of space, the user can warp anything targeted into a dimensional void and teleport it to another location instantaneously. Can even teleport to different dimensions.
One of the most useful ability in Rayne's opinion.
Next up is All-Attribute enhancement. As the name implies, upon activation gives massive boost in all attributes as high as ten times or even more.
Skill power enhancement. Simply put, activating Karma martial soul increases the power of soul skills by a large margin.
The Karma martial soul also brings a very powerful self recovery, which is a passive ability.
Infinite Life Records. It records the biological data and life experiences of one's on past lives in it. With the exclusive ability of Karma, 'Overlapping Power' can be used. You can overlay the accumulated combat experience within the Karma with your mind and body, entering a very powerful state. This is the true essence of Karma and grants the user an exponential increase in battle power, well beyond that conferred by the enhanced physical abilities alone.
As for how to enter the so-called life records in the Karma martial soul, this concerns the two special innate abilities of Reincarnation and Karma Resurrection.
The 'Reincarnation' skill is a passive ability that has 80% chance of reincarnation upon death and a 10% chance of retaining one's past life memories directly upon reincarnation. The past life biological data and life experience are all recorded in the karma, and will eventually be completely extracted in the new life. The cycle may continue forever as Karma is soul-bound and will be with you forever.
As for Karma Resurrection…
You can basically implant a Karma seal on another humanoid life form. Over time, the vessel's own genetic information will be completely overwritten by your biological data accumulated in the Karma, at which point the implanted Karma will disappear and the you will resurrect along with your original Karma, taking over the vessel's body and erasing their personality.
This is the true purpose of Karma resurrection, and allows the you to transcend death. Even if the vessel's body dies and is severely damaged and/or not fully compatible with the you, so long as it exists and still bears Karma, it will remain viable for you to resurrect through, in which any damage it has suffered will be healed.
Despite being reformed virtually identical to how they were in their previous body, you are also able to retain all the memories, skills and knowledge from the vessel, which will then be stored in your Karma's Infinite Life records.
Unlike Reincarnation skill which has a 20% chance of failing to activate, Karma resurrection is a sure resurrection skill.
While Rayne was somewhat disturbed by the thought of sacrificing someone else to use Karma resurrection skill, it is still a very good fail safe skill to have in a world like Douluo continent.
"Hmm… That's a lot of innate abilities. But there's no ready made domain unlike with Blue silver emperor and Seraph martial souls. But that's fine. This martial soul surpasses most of the known martial souls in the Douluo series. Very few can compare with it. While it didn't solve my physical problems or increase my innate soul power, I'm still quite satisfied."
