I fought a manticore.
(A/N - I want to thank you all for all the support I've received from this novel which I have made as a sort of pass time. Thank you all so much and I will be continuing this novel with at least one chapter daily even on the days I am not feeling well. Normally I would do two but sometimes I don't. Thank you all.)

"Hmm. It's not as big as I thought." I said as I looked at the manticore which was held in a magically reinforced tungsten cage.
"What do you mean? It's massive!" Said Nova.
The manticore was about 6'5 and looked very angry as it thrashed about in its cage letting out deep growls and roars.
"Not really. I'm bigger." I practically whispered that last bit to myself.
And I wasn't lying, I was in fact bigger than the manticore that was in front of me. My dragon form right now would be two feet taller than me which would make it 7'6 which is one foot and an inch taller than the manticore.
"Well the hight doesn't really matter. Kiera, I don't want you to underestimate it because this beast really does pack a punch and won't hold back so go all out from the start and then adjust yourself accordingly." Scarlet said.
"Right. Nova you'll probably want to stand back and next to Scarlet so if it changes focus to you then you'll be slightly safer. I don't know if Scarlet will protect you but we will find out." I said looking at the manticore.
"Release your mana into the cage and change the flow of magic on the tungsten so the cage can collapse. That is when it'll start." Scarlet said as she took Nova to the edge of the training grounds.
"Okay." I said as I released a slither of my mana into the atmosphere and to the cage.
The manticore roared as I opened the cage and it came rushing at me which I leaped off the ground and into the air away from it.
It looked up at me with blood thirsty eyes which could make someone faint and leaped into the air after me while spanning out its wings to keep itself held in the air.
It darted at me with great speed and swiped at me with its long scaled feet and sharp claws which I dodged using air magic to push me to the side and land on top of its leg.
I transformed Adonis to my most used and loved weapon, a katana, and stabbed into its paw before jumping off and leaving Adonis wedged into it. I landed on the floor leaving the manticore screeching in the air.
I returned Adonis into my hand with a simple thought and looked at the manticore who stared right back. It growled and lunged forward at me while spitting out balls of poison from its mouth. I stood still and let the poison hit me which confused the manticore which left me an opening so I thrust Adonis into its eye.
"Kiera?!" I heard Nova shout.
I was fine although the poison hit me thanks to [Poison manipulation] which meant poison weaker than my own would be ineffective against me but it did melt my clothing. It could be repaired or I could buy new clothes so that didn't matter in the slightest.
The manticore in rage used a fire elemental breath and spewed out flames onto me so I had to quickly counter. Due to my quick thinking and knowledge I remembered that fire needed oxygen to burn. I used my air magic and took all of the oxygen atoms in the air surrounding me away which left me unable to breath but also made the manticores elemental breath useless.
Nova and Scarlet who watched o the sidelines were confused on what I did for the fire to stop before it even hit me, unable to realise what happened.
The manticores rage on the other hand was just increasing rapidly. It used its tail and thrust forwards which I dodged making its tail get stuck in the ground which I then sliced off. The manticores blood wasn't red nor green but a purple. Purple drops scattered into the air and littered the ground along with steaming from the cuts I made prior, his eye and leg.
Not knowing what to do the manticore jumped forwards in an attempt to bite me which was a terrible mistake on its part.
I created a fire ball and sent it down the manticores throat which made it cough up smoke and blood. The manticore was left in a stunned state but knew it wasn't a match for me so it shifted its focus else where. Nova.
It noticed that Nova was weak and protected by someone else so it thought it would distract Scarlet and then go in to kill Nova straight after. Nova knew none of this and just stood there thinking about what she just witnessed.
'Kiera not only thought it would be a great idea to fight a manticore that held the rank of C+ but also managed to beat it with techniques I've never seen. How did she stop the fire by standing still and not due to the poison projectiles? It doesn't make sense. Also how the hell is she stronger than a manticore!' Nova was too deep in her own thoughts to notice the manticore glaring in her direction with an unquenchable thirst hidden in its red eyes.
Scarlet came forwards to put the manticore back in its cage by knocking it out since this wasn't really a fight but a one sided beating. She hadn't noticed the look in the manticores eyes, well eye as it's right eye had a hole my sword made by piercing through its socket.
The manticore allowed Scarlet to come forwards and get close to it before jumping right past her and diving at Nova. I realised what was happening and launched myself in Novas direction before skidding in front of her and stabbing my sword through the manticores jaw, forcing it to stop.
It was at that moment Scarlets magic kicked in and healed the manticore, slowly but it was doing something.
Nova was knocked out of her daze as she realised what just happened directly in front of her.
"This manticore seems pretty desperate." I muttered as I took Adonis out of its jaw and i was about to slice off its neck but Scarlet stopped me by knocking it out with a powerful hit to the back of its neck.
I questioned myself wether she had actually knocked it out of killed it as I heard a 'crack' when Scarlets hand made impact on the manticores neck. The manticore let out a screech before passing out.
Since I had the skill [Polyglot] I could understand everything the manticore said but it was just sending out threats and saying 'kill' 'blood' 'must die' and so on. Pretty bad threats that nobody noticed but myself.
Scarlet then dragged the manticore back into its cage very slowly as the manticore must've weighed a tonne.
"Sorry for not noticing the manticore was after you." Scarlet chuckled once she had finished caging the manticore.
"Ah, it's fine. I wasn't hurt thanks to Kiera. Anyway, how the heck did you just beat that thing?" Nova said looking at me in shock and respect.
"I just hit it a couple times." I said as if it was natural.
"What about those weird tricks? You didn't get injured from the poison and you didn't get hit by the fire? It stopped in front of you. Just disappeared. Gone. As if it was never there to begin with." Nova continued, pushing for answers.
"I used air magic and the poison just doesn't affect me." I replied.
"How did you use air magic, like in what way. Also how can poison just all of a sudden not affect you?" Nova continued still pressing for more.
"I remembered that fire needs air to continue burning so if I just took that away then what would happen with the fire? It wouldn't burn. So I just took away all the oxygen atoms from the air surrounding me and that stopped the fire. As for poison not affecting me, that is something I'm not revealing." I replied.
What I just said left Novas mouth agape and Scarlet looking shocked.
'That needs insane mastery and control over an element to do something like taking away atoms from your surroundings. Just what is this girl? Well dragon.' Scarlet thought to herself as she stared at Kiera.
"Is that it?" I asked Scarlet who was staring at me.
"Ah, umm yeah. You can do what you want now. That's it for today. Not much of a lesson or anything really but whatever. I need to process what just happened. I'll see you tomorrow." Scarlet said as she waved us goodbye.
"Right. Well let's start with your training." I said to Nova.
"What about the manticore?" She asked taking a nervous glance over at it.
"Don't pay it any attention. It won't escape and even if it does I'll just kill it. No problem."
I replied nonchalantly.
"Sure.."
