45 The wall

But before finding an answer, the slime spell was triggered. A black shock wave began to approach us at full speed. I also imagined a new sigh of resignation and prepared to receive it. A huge wall rose in front of us. The attack collided with it, rumbling terrifyingly right in front of me. Everything around us began to disappear, consumed by darkness.

“I had to spend my trump because of you two…”

As the disaster subsided and the dust went down, I saw that all vegetation had disappeared. The only that remained intact were those thing hidden behind my wall

"In theory, it's run out of mana. Right now it's nothing more than a very big slime... too big..."

"Perhaps?"

Aeldrya finally seemed to notice my presence. She had been staring at me with her mouth open. Normal, who would expect a stone to speak? Well, I was doing it ... with a little trick. The first thing I learned from the old man was a spell called "Wind whisper". A simple wind magic that projects the voice at a distance without needing to really speak. It was basically what that scroll contained, and what the old man used to hear my voice. I was so excited to be able to speak again that I basically spent the whole night learning the spell… Now I was regretting it a bit, I should have learned something more useful for this situation.

"Limy… why haven't you listened to me? Now I don't think that the slime is going to let you escape again."

Strong blows were heard on the other side of the wall. Considering the type of monster it was, it must have had quite a bit of mana, so it was highly unlikely that it would easily break it. Still, it wouldn't take long to surround the wall.

"Master... I am your monster... My duty is to protect you, to be your strength. Still, I am weak... a mere weak blue slime. My only strength is the one you gave me as an elite. Still, my level limit is very low and no matter how hard I try, I can't learn anything new. I'm not smart either. I quickly forget things. I am a useless disposable monster that can hardly be used as a shield."

I started to roll towards the end of the wall. I stood just at the edge before turning to speak to that silly girl.

"Stupid jelly brain… I never created you to be used as a shield. You are not just a weak blue slime... You are my blue slime... My little blue slime. If I let my daughter die so easily, what kind of father would I be? If someone is to be someone's shield, it must be me."

"But, master, if you die, I will die too."

"I have already said that I have no intention of letting you die, much less dying myself. People didn't call me "the wall" for nothing, I'm a wall that had never been torn down before!"

I blurted out that ironic phrase when I remembered the stupid nickname people gave me as a child after a bet to see who was capable of making me fall... no one ever succeeded... even trying four at a time… And that didn’t change even after I grew up.

"Therefore, I won't die, so take that pervert and escape to town while I try to stop this thing here. See you later."

I finished exiting the wall I had created and faced the black slime again, which kept coming closer without stopping hitting the wall for a single moment. I rolled slowly toward it, but before I knew it, Limy reappeared on my left side.

"I refuse to run."

"What a pain... Children grow up so fast... My Limy is already in the rebellious stage of adolescence..."

"I can't quite understand or believe what's going on here... I have a black slime in front of me... A stone is talking... My apprentice turned out not to be human..."

And Aeldrya also walked slowly to my right side.

“You too?”

She nodded and laughed wryly after staring at Limy.

"A blue slime... That explains a lot. I should have imagined it after all this time."

"What are you going to do, attack us? If I have to face you at the same time as that black slime I will do it without a moment's hesitation."

"Normally I would. However... I've started to enjoy her company a bit..."

"And enjoy her tentacles?"

"And her… what are you saying ?!"

“You are a pervert.”

“I’m not!”

"Your face after being trapped between Limy's tentacles doesn't say the same."

"And who was the one who taught her that?!"

"… Putting the blame on others is very ugly… You are a pervert!"

"That silence says it all!"

"It doesn't change the fact that you are a pervert!"

But wasn't the time to debate who was the real pervert between the two of us... which was undoubtedly her... We needed to find a way to defeat that monster.

"Whatever... The option to flee seems to have vanished. Even if we could, it seems to me that it is not a good idea to let this thing loose for the world," I changed the topic.

"I think the same... Although my legs still shake when I look at it."

"Well, since you are both stupid enough to stay by my side, at least do what I tell you."

“Understood.”

"Follow orders from a stone... Well, also understood."

After that, Aeldrya closed her eyes, took a breath, and let it out slowly as she stroked the hilt of that dagger that she always carried with her. As she opened her eyes again, her face had become just as blank as Limy's, but all her fear seemed to have been replaced by determination.

"Let's trash this ball of molten tar."

They both nodded. In this way, the three of us launched ourselves into battle against the black slime.
