19 The last floor (II)

The dungeon core and I were less than a foot apart from each other, both of us staring at our counterpart menacingly. Our desire to kill each other was obvious, yet neither of us dared to make the first move for fear of the other’s strength. It was an intense mental battle… Or what is the same, we were two boulders standing next to each other doing absolutely nothing… You know, the normal between stones.

‘Is this thing even alive?’ I dubiously thought after some time watching at the inert dungeon core.

It looked like a normal and ordinary gem, but after experiencing in first person that an inanimate object could be alive I couldn’t discard the possibility, so I decided to take a look at it before doing anything.

I become… a little more of stone than normal when I saw its status. I was shocked to see all its stats, not just the HP and MP. But what shocked me the most was its kind.

‘Is it… Is it… Is it… Dad, is it you?!’

This guy and I were exactly the same. It was a magic stone like me! Although it also had a race, not like me.

‘Dad, all this time you’ve been here… I… I… I… I’m going to kill you!’

I jumped next to him and began to parasitize with everything I had.

‘A crap is my father! Let’s go, suffer, suffer, suffer! And that’s not enough for you to understand even a tiny part of my pain! Because of your fucking dungeon I have touched madness over and over again! Heh, heh, heheheh, heheheheh, die and let me get out of here!’

I kept draining until I saw the core start to crack on all sides, finally collapsing into a thousand little pieces. As soon as it was scattered in particles of dust, the typical blue window suddenly popped up in front of me.

[You have destroyed a level 50 dungeon core.]

[New title acquired: Dungeon conqueror (Lvl 1).]

[You have gained 75000 experience points.]

[Your level has risen to 15. Because of your kind, the stats can’t go up.]

[The amount of experience points exceeds the maximum accumulative for your species. Transferring the remaining experience points to the class.]

[Class “Apprentice mage” is now at level 10.]

[Remaining points impossible to distribute, transforming them into mastery.]

After acquiring that title, so many messages appeared that made it difficult to read them all.

‘Ah? What is this all?! Status!’

‘Is this really what one obtains by destroying a dungeon core?! Now I understand why people would risk attacking dungeons despite their danger…’

As I continued to gawk at my stats, another message popped up.

[Do you want to evolve?]

‘Huh, this again…’

True, my level had peaked once more. If the result of evolving happened to be like the last time… Well, it was best not to think too much about that. The important thing was to know that I could finally get out of this damn hell, and if with this evolution I managed to become something more human… Although the possibility of that happening did not seem to be much.

‘When I get out of here I plan to find a quiet place and stay away from any monster or dungeon for a long time… MAybe forever…’

I sighed in my mind both, relieved and frustrated. I hadn’t become mad by chance. Everything that had happened to me was more than enough for it. I’d kept sane talking nonsense with Helpy, but realistically, it was just a skill. I longed to be able to have an idle chat with someone.

‘The first thing I will do is find a town. I want to meet humans and I am also curious about the existence of other races. Will there be elves?’

But of course, I couldn’t communicate with them. For a moment I imagined myself in the hands of some child and being thrown at the head of another… and that would be the best that could happen to me. Considering that I had been classified as a monster, wouldn’t they attack me?

‘Na, I don’t think anyone would be afraid of a stone, right? But there is still the big problem of… being a stone! Perhaps I should abandon the idea of finding civilization…’

I needed once and for all to collect some information about this world, or else it would not be impossible for this diabolical little adventure to repeat itself.

‘Hmm, now that Helpy has improved enough I might have a chance. Let’s see… Helpy, where I am?’

[Inside an unknown dungeon.]

‘Not that, damn it, I mean where am I in this world!’

[Inside an unknown dungeon.]

‘For God's sake don't start over ... Okay, to be more precise, which is the name of this world?’

[This world is known as Kabtiaf.]

‘Perfect, and where in this world… no… what county am I in?’

[Insufficient information.]

‘Yeah… I had to try.’

I would have to rely on myself to get the information. The problem of how I would do it… Well, it’s not like I was a person of long-term planning. When the time came I would find how to do it… probably...

‘Ok, the hope of ceasing to be a stone could not be lost, is it? Let's go! Evolve!’

And just like last time, I lost consciousness...
