24 Inside the wall

We managed to sneak into the city quite easily. Since we didn’t want to attract attention, we hid until the sun came up. It didn’t take long for us to see people coming out of their houses.

‘This is a strange city.’

I can't say that I was familiar with medieval cities. This was the first time I saw one outside games, and they were not the least bit alike. First of all, the wall did not directly lead to the city itself, but rather an area that seemed to be farm fields with only humble houses. After the fields, in the distance, another higher wall could be seen.

—I did not expect that the city would have multiple walls. We will have to manage to go through all of them.

“Master, why are there several walls?”

—Well… it may be in case of being attacked by naked men of more than five meters that manage to pass the first, they have another capable of blocking them.

“Understood, I thought the first would be to prevent monsters from attacking the fields.”

—… Yes, that’s exactly what I meant...

It actually made sense. In a world where dangerous monsters constantly attack humans, a first defense for the main food source was more than necessary.

A big canal flown under the wall and then divided into smaller ones, crossing the fields. The big one continued to the other wall. From what I had seen, there was a grid made of metal that probably was enough to block most creatures, but it wasn't big enough to block any of my size.

‘Although it is not perfect, the city is quite well done.’

We started touring the agricultural area. The map was drawn as we walked around. Due to my curiosity, we ended up going through the fields to fill it. Perhaps I would end up making a fully detailed map of the roads in the city.

‘This city is definitely quite big. This is just the agricultural part and is already impressively extensive.’

The fields had already been filled with farmers. They all appeared to be human, which made me wonder if this was the typical race-discriminating world. I immediately took the opportunity to check the status of one of the farmers.

‘He is so weak!’

I already expected that humans would be weaker than monsters, but this was more than I thought. Even I was stronger… Well… maybe not...

‘Brifvian race, huh? What’s that?’

[Human race belonging to the continent of Brifvia.]

‘I see… Well, at least I already know what continent I am on. Next is finding out what country I am and what city is this.’

Even saying that, I didn’t want to have much contact with people. There was a chance they might realize that Limy was a slime. I wouldn’t take that risk.

—Let’s move on. I want to finish taking a look at the agricultural area before going to the next.

“Understood, master.”

“Girl, are you from here?”

However, the moment we started walking again, the same man called us...

“No, I have arrived right now.”

… and the idiot slime answered just what I didn’t want her to say.

“I supposed it. You are the first girl with blue hair that I see. Where do you come from?”

“From my master.”

“Ah?”

—Shit Limy! Just tell him you don’t know! That you were raised in the mountains or something like that!

“Master says that I don’t know, that I was raised in the mountains or something like that.”

—But don’t say it exactly as I said it!

“I… I see… And tell me, where is this master of yours?”

“Here”

Limy pointed to her chest, right where I physically was.

—You're going to give me a heart attack!

—But master, you don’t have a heart, you can’t have a heart attack.

‘I give up trying to make her understand what expressions and ways of speaking are to this literally brainless slime…’

“Oh, so you are completely alone in the city then. And from the clothes you are wearing, I imagine that you have absolutely nothing. I’m very sorry.”

—Say yes!

Luckily, that man misunderstood what Limy said. Worried about the worst case, I tried to guide the words of this stupid man-eater.

“Masters say yes.”

—But without the master part! Yes and only yes!

I wasn’t able...

“Get it. I know it’s not much, but I can’t help with anything else.”

He walked away for a moment and came back with what appeared to be a bag of food.

—Master, can I eat?

Limy stared at what would be her next meal…

—No and definitely no!

… or in other words, she was staring at that man.

‘Going through this city will be more difficult than overcoming that dungeon… I feel like the resistance to dementia is about to level up again…’

Our first meeting with a decent human ended without major incidents by a miracle… especially considering that this idiot swallowed the whole bag as soon as she walked away from that man a few meters! And when I say the whole bag, it is literally the whole bag!

‘I need to explain in detail how she must behave within the city… or we are dead…’

After our tour within the fields, we went to the entrance of the other wall. Two soldiers were there with an incredibly bored face. They didn’t even bother to hide it.

People came in and out without even being inspected, which made me quite happy. We went with the flow, hoping we won’t have any problem.

“Another beggar entering the city… Disgusting.”

“That shouldn't be allowed.”

Both guards spoke blatantly for us to hear. Although it was terribly unpleasant, they didn’t do anything more than that, they even looked away from Limy.

And we finally managed to go inside the city.
