53 Gaston's Web of Deceit

Smith stood up and walked toward the cave's entrance, his head lowered in shame. He wondered whether Gaston would keep his promise or backstab him now that he had become useless.

He walked in anticipation and soon stepped out of the cave, bathed in the rising sun's light, waiting for a few seconds.

Fortunately, his head remained attached to his body. Sighing in relief, he ran to the carriage, unfastened a horse, and quickly disappeared into the forest on the horse's back.

Gaston looked at his departing silhouette, ensuring that he was truly gone. Then, he entered the cave and walked towards Julius, his smile reaching his ears.

Never before had his mood been this good. After all, he got his weapon back, took revenge on his father and was about to double-cross Eleanor, foiling her master plan in the process.
