Chapter 1

"HOW IS THIS SUITABLE FOR 5 YEAR OLDS! I'M NEARLY 14 AND- AND- AND- I- I-!" Katherine shouted. Everyone stared at her as Kate started to read the book she was given to review. "Get a handful of this!

"Fog swirled around the boy's feet, the mystical woods behind him. He sat on the rock on the edge of the green, bubbling water, he could see a strange figure but did not think about what it could be. He could tell that, whatever it was, was moving under the water, its tail flicked the water from the murky lake onto the rock every minute or so.

"The boy was scared, after all, who could stare at the monster creeping around in the dirty lake without feeling like that? The boy was aware of the monster but did not want to draw too much attention to the fact that there was finally something that scared him. The monster sneezed (he must not be used to the thick, purple, swirling fog!) and grunted, the boy thought that the monster wanted to get out and run off hunting for humans like he was hunting for food.

"The forest's murky, mystical feel possessed the boy, he felt like diving in, killing the monster and anyone else that he hated. He could not control this feel - it was like someone was giving him orders that he had to obey. The crocodile was getting taller, his head almost level with the boy. He could feel himself getting more scared, yet he felt power like he ruled the crocodile or it would only answer him and would clear his life of all those that were not loyal to him.

"The boy was sure that he had all this power, he was debating whether he should jump in or not.

'You'll do great, you have so much-'

'NO, this is-'

'Power, you have it, so much too…'

'But it is DANGEROUS, what if the crocodile does not respect me..'

'But you know he will.'

'I DO NOT. Besides what will I do if he does not follow my orders?'

'Ahhh, but he will-'

'NOT, he will not. Please, I know that it will go wrong.'

'Just trust me…'

"The boy looked at the mystical woods, still debating. He took a deep breath and jumped… See! It's FREAKING ME OUT!"

Kate tossed her golden curls over her shoulder, she looked like a princess, even in their school uniform. Everyone wished they were Kate or (as she prefered to be called) Katherine. Maybe you know someone like her, she wasn't a show-off, but she was talented and beautiful.

"Hey, Roze!"

"Yes Janet?" Roze sighed.

"Wanna come to my place today?"

"Ohhhh, I'm so sorry, I promised I would babysit Al."

"Urg, I feel for you, Alfie's such a show off!"

"I knowwww. I would rather hangout at your place!"

"Hey!"

"Janet?"

"I'll come to yours!"

"JANET THAT'S THE BEST IDEA EV-"

"Ahem, Roze. That is a great idea. But you know an even better idea? DETENTION!"

"But Miss-"

"THAT'S IT ROZE! THIS IS THE SECOND TIME YOU'VE DISTURBED THE CLASS!"

"But Miss," Janet shouted across the room, "Roze's finished all her English!"

"Silly girl, of course she hasn't!" Miss Savourlin said, grabbing Roze's book. "Gimme that! Let me see-"

"Why did you say that?" Roze whispered. "Miss Saveloy's gonna get us!"

Saveloy was the nickname they came up with for Miss Savourlin, she really did look like a sausage and her face was very red!

"Very well, I shan't put you in DREADED DETENTION as your alliteration is perfecto! But," she looked sternly at the two girls, "if you interrupt one more time, I really will put you there. FOR 3 HOURS!"

Miss Savourlin was a great teacher, but not as good as their form teacher, Miss C.

"CLASS DISMISSED!"

"Hello girls, boys." said the kindly voice of Miss C.

"Hello Emma!" they shouted brightly.

"Had a good day?"

"YES!" they replied.

"Now, it's time to go home!"

"But-"

"No buts!"

A few boys sniggered.

"Goodbye everyone!" Emma shouted, her face still smiling.

"Bye, Emma!"

As Roze stepped out the door, the bitter coldness of the wind hit her in the face.

As they turned onto Longland Drive, Leela turned up.

"Lee!"

"Hey, where were you?" Janet asked.

"At home, sleeping, of course!"

"But why didn't you come to school?"

"My Mum always thinks I'm sick because I'm so pale!"

"GO GIRL GO!" screamed Roze and Janet as they spotted Leela's boyfriend, Alex. "YOU'VE GOT A DATE AND YOU'RE NOT GONNA BE LATE!"

"BYE GIRLS! IT WAS SO NICE seeing . . ."

"AHHHHH! Oh, that was just my phone! I really have to change the ringtone!" Roze laughed.
