80 In The Heat Of The Moment

Omari found out very quickly that the fact that he was playing didn't guarantee Teesside the win. He made an impact when he came on, creating one or two big chances but actually playing in the match made him realize one very important fact. If the people taking the shot were thrash, then there was nothing that he could do.

Omari was given the ball again. David sent a long pass from the back to the left flank. Omari got to the pass and found himself one on one with the Norfolk right back.

Stepover.

Omari's legs flashed over the ball in an attempt to stall and find space to cut into the box. After he did a stepover the second time, the right back gave him space to run past him on the wide side.

Omari was about to gleefully take the opportunity presented to him when he realized something.

Wait, that was... too easy

To the shock of the right back, Omari chose to dribble into the box. The right back was absolutely confident that Omari was going to take his bait and as a result, was unprepared when he saw Omari do the opposite.

As soon as Omari made it into the box, he found himself one on one with one of the two center backs. His legs flashed over the ball but he didn't bother trying to get past the center. He kicked the ball to a small space slightly outside the box.

Richard McGriee (Attacking Midfielder) saw the ball come the edge of the box and didn't hesitate to hit it into the bottom right corner.

Argent Gaunn (Norfolk goalkeeper) made a sharp dive to his right and slapped the ball away from the net, and out of bounds resulting in a corner kick for Teesside.

"What the?" Omar was stunned. His mouth was agape for a few seconds. He was dead certain that Richard's shot was going to end up at the back of the net. There was no way in hell that a goalkeeper was going to get to that shot. At least that's what he thought.

'And it's McGrieee... Oh! What a save by Gaunn. Beautiful foobtall all round, I'll say. Lovely bit of skill there from Omari Hutchingson before laying the pass off to McGriee. McGriee did the best thing that he could've done with that pass but Gaunn was up to the task. Another save from Gaunn, another missed chance from Teesside'

'Really unlucky not to score there Richard McGriee. I think everyone in the stadium thought that the shot was going to end up in the back of the net. Some of the Teesside supporters had even stood up already. Unlucky to miss that shot aren't they?'

'Once again, Hutchingson is involved in the action. He's really showing skills that aren't usually found in a sixteen year old'

'He really is. It's very rare to see a winger preferring to have the ball wide and send it into the box for the striker to get. Most young wingers these days are just so eager to score goals that they forget a winger is supposed to feed the striker'

Michael heaved a sigh. He too had thought that the shot was going to get into the net. He had already thrown his hands up in celebration when he realized that the shot was saved.

"That bastard goalkeeper" He muttered under his breath.

After that shot, Norfolk made an attempt at attacking. They built up play from the back and tried to penetrate Teesside's defense. Ultimately David stole the ball from the legs of one of the midfielders and initiated a counterattack.

He sent another through ball to Omari who got hold of the ball. As soon as he got the ball, he found himself one on one with a Norfolk midfielder. He slowed the ball down, appearing to be hesitant to make a decision on what next to do with the ball.

Dash

All of a sudden, Omari kicked the ball way out of reach of the center back and sprinted pass him. He found himself one one one with a center back. If he got past the center back then he would be one on one with the goalkeeper and he could score a goal on his debut in league football.

As he was about to take on the defender, he noticed one of his players running towards the goal. If he decided to pass it to the player, then all he would need to score would be a simple tap in.

Omari weighed his option. He could take a risk and score his debut go or he could decide to play safe and pass the ball.

Fuck it!

After a moment of thought, Omari made his decision. He passed the ball to the side and watched as Matthew Finn (Teesside Striker) smashed the ball into the net from close range.

Even though it was an away fixture for Teesside, the screams of the travelling fans filled the stadium. Almost every single one of them stood up from their seats as they screamed 'goal'.

Michael along with some of the coaches lost their composure. As soon as the ball entered the back of the net, they ran to the pitch and celebrated with the players.

Omari smiled as he was dragged into the celebration by some of the older players. He didn't regret his decision at all. He chose not to be selfish and he won.

He won, or at least his victory was almost certain. That was all that mattered.
