Lakewood City

As Keyl started to walk, he discovered two things about the baby, or precisely speaking the necklace on its neck. One is that it suppresses the aura of an elf or rather nature, a trait that all beings with elven blood in their bodies has, which means even those who are not full elves have this aura around them, albeit weaker than pure elves.

This aura made it easy for someone else to identify if an individual has elven blood in their bodies and this is even more so for other elves which are far more sensitive to this aura. Due to this reason, it was hard to conceal your identity as an elf if you are one. Unless you have some way to suppress that aura, like this necklace.

The other thing he found out is that a tracking spell was embedded into it as well. When Keyl found it, he wryly shook his head, "I knew it was a flag."

He continued, "Now the real question is whether or not this spell was made by her family or the ones who took her."

Keyl thought about what he should do and after some thinking, he came into a decision.

'I'll just suppress it enough so they can find the general direction but not the specific location.' he put his hands over the necklace briefly as it glowed for a minute before returning normal again.

His reason for this? It is so that he would be able to sense whether someone is tracking the baby and due to the fact that they can only find the general direction, he would have enough time to find out if the people tracking it is the baby's family or not.

During the way, Keyl also managed to make the elf baby in his arms go to sleep after gently swaying it left and right. After some time passed, he finally managed to see the gates of the small city where he was currently staying from a distance.

The city is called Lakewood City. It got its name from the fact that the city is famous for the lake covered in a small forest inside it. The city is under the rule of the Myriad Lands, one of the major powers in the world that presides over a huge city where almost no discrimination of races could be seen. Not a single race rules the Myriad Lands. Instead, multiple leaders from all kinds of race are the ones who ensure that the rules and protection of the area under it are strictly heeded. And subsequently, all the lands that is under the rule of Myriad Land also share this same characteristics.

The Myriad Lands are one of, if not the most neutral group in the whole world of Lumen. They will not side nor attack anyone else unless you attack them first that's why it's one of the more peaceful places in this world. The very reason why Keyl is living in this city.

Currently, Keyl was walking in the road leading to the gate of the city where guards could be seen standing in a line besides the gate, watching all the people going in and out.

Dozens of blue crystals the size of a basketball were embedded into the gate walls directly above the gate with some gap between them, making a line of blue crystals that goes all the way from the two ends of the street leading into the city. It was quite obvious what the purpose of these things are. These crystals detects all the things that passes under it and it will release a red light towards a direction where it detects some things that are considered banned in the city, thus alerting the guards which will then take action quickly. Due to these things, the entry towards the city was very smooth and efficient, only if you don't have anything that will make these crystals shine their red light on you.

With that said, Keyl is currently a few hundred meters away from the gate, just right in the borders of the plain surrounding the city and the forest, watching people going in and out of the city, some by foot and some riding in their own carriages that are either pulled by beasts or powered by mana.

"I better avoid going normally through the gate. It might cause some unwanted attention from the others. But then again, this will only cause trouble in the future when this child will grow up. People might suspect about this child's origin which will be bad for her. Hmmm." Keyl started thinking about what he should do and in less than a second came to a plan.

'Better get this over with now rather than later. It will be better for me and for her.' Keyl thought while looking at the elf baby sleeping peacefully in his arms.

He couldn't help but sigh as he said, "I don't even know why am I doing this even though I generally hate elves. That said, this one's still a baby so I guess I can't really bring myself to hate her. Really, life is so complicated."

He started walking towards the gates, keeping his pace the same as the others in the surroundings. Some people turned towards him curiously as they look at the bag in his arms and soon turned away.

Keyl sighed in relief as he got close to the gate without anything out of the norm happening...yet.

"UWAAAAHHHH!" Right as Keyl was about to go through the gate, the baby in his arms woke up and started crying loudly again, which naturally caused all eyes to turn towards him.

Keyl frowned as he sighed again for who knows how many times this has happened in just one day. "Really, life is so fucking complicated."

Hi :)
