Taming a Friend

Boring. That's all that fighting was.. it was a dick measuring contest between factions to see who was more supreme, and how did it end? Despite getting themselves killed, nothing changed. Pretty stupid. After I left the aftermath of the war, I navigated back into the void. I would have discovered my path to the human world, but what the hell was there 750 years before modern times? Seemed like more of a pain in the ass than anything else.

So here I am, staring into the blank void of nothingness, though there seems to be solid ground. Taking a moment to think, I ultimately concluded that I would make my home here. Something that I could use to relax in as I adventured around. Utilising my Reality Manipulation, I decided to that a mansion was in order. It's obnoxious and not needed by one person. But when the building is free, who cares?

As I willed my powers, the building manifested. With large stone columns for the entry, a thick wooden door completed the design. Through the door was a large entry area, with staircases that lead upstairs. Through the entry, you could find a modern living room with a couch, TV, fireplace and chandelier. The kitchen was state-of-the art modern appliances. Everything within the house ran on electricity; if you can alter reality, you can make power. The entire house was built from stone and wood. It has a large pool in the backyard and some small shrubs covering the yard. In a blink of the eye, I created something worth millions of dollars in the modern world.

As I walked towards the stairs that lead to the bedroom, I looked around, enjoying my sights. Not even dreams could manifest these powers, and I had them at the tip of my finger. So much to explore, and I have a limitless amount of life to have my fun with them. I walked through the door leading to my bedroom. A giant king sized bed with royal silk bedsheets was there. I jumped into it. It felt like a cloud of joy surrounded me. "Perks of using the materials Chastiefol was made from," I said with a small smile as my eyes began closing.

Hours later, I suddenly woke up from my slumber, even though I didn't need to sleep. It was more of a mental command I could do. It allowed my mind to rest if I chose. Seated on the bed, someone welcomed my eyes, their unblinking gaze fixed on me. Nah, this wasn't a woman, it was a small girl, and I knew exactly who she was, and I had a solid idea of why she was here.

"Hasn't anyone told you not to wake someone up while they're sleeping, Ophis?" While staring at the chibi Infinity Dragon, I said. She had long black hair that went down to her waist. She had grey and slitted reptilian eyes and was wearing clothes that looked much like gothic Lolita styling.

Surprised, she blinked and tilted her head, asking, "Do you know me?" She inquired.

Although I have knowledge about you, I'm not familiar with you as an individual. So how about you tell me why you're here?" I mentioned.

Before she closed her mouth, she expressed surprise that I knew what she was going to request. "Why? Because it's too loud, Baka Red won't leave my home. No more peace."

You were both born here. This home is as much yours as it is hers. You can't do that. Why not move far into the Gap where she doesn't go? Then it will be quiet." I said. I had read too many fanfics. In them, people kept trying to trick the girl into staying for greed or laziness. Never did they actually give the girl a solution. She wasn't stupid, sure she spoke a little, but she was smart. She just thought stupidly when it came to her home.

Hesitantly, she paused in response to my words. It looked like the cogs in her head were turning. She had a plausible solution, but she completely disregarded it. "You are in the space where I would move. Baka Red doesn't come here. She likes the chaotic parts of the Gap," Ophis said.

Ah shit, please don't tell me she'll try to make me move? Having already built the house, I found this place to be peaceful.

"I have decided to make this my new home."

WAIT. NO. THAT'S NOT THE PLAN. I tried to help, how is this coming to bite my ass now?! "Listen, Ophis. I'm going to create a lot of sounds. Maybe another location?" I said, you could hear the begging in my voice.

With finality in her voice, she declared, "I will live here now." Sure, I could beat her and send her away. But she did nothing wrong. She just failed to grasp the basic idea of boundaries and permission. "Fine, but I'm going to make you a small home outside of here. It can be yours, for whatever you want to do." I left the bedroom after saying that. I walked down the stairs and exited the mansion. Then, found an opening close by. Waving my hands, I built a similar mansion, albeit to a smaller degree. The kitchen would have an auto dispensing machine for sweets that she could use, as I knew she had a sweet tooth.

With a turn back to the Lolita dragon, I announce, "This will be your home. I left something in there so that you have unlimited food. You can do whatever you want to it, just don't break the house. I don't want to come back and make a new one."

Staring at me, she had a look of curiosity and shock on her face. "How did you make the house appear like that? Only Baka Red and I can do something similar." She pestered.

How do I explain what I am to people? I can't say I'm the most powerful existence in this universe or my thoughts alone could erase all life in this multiverse.. that could come off pretentious. "Think of me as a powerful human, like you and Great Red. Having lost my way, I found myself waking up in the Dimensional Gap today. I remember little apart from that," yeah, that should be perfect. It's not like it's too ridiculous. This is DxD anyway.

Ophis, not giving a hot shit, nodded her head before walking into the house I made for her. Walking back to my house, I entered the backyard. Now is the time to put some of my capabilities to the test.

With the ability to capture supersonic speeds, I built a state-of-the-art speed camera. Hoping this could capture even an iota of my speed, I placed it almost 1 kilometre away from myself. Bending down, I assumed the start position for my run. I slightly pressured my right foot, pushing off of it and launching myself forward.

What?

I'm already at the finish line.. how fucking fast was I? I turned back towards the camera, but realised I couldn't see it, so I started walking back into the direction I came from, how far did I go? 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 1 hour later. Completely bewildered, I found myself in front of the camera. Looking at the reading, all I saw was an error.

In a state of disbelief, I uttered, "You've got to be kidding me!" The system was correct, immeasurable. I don't want to test my strength then.. I'm sure I would do more damage than good, but I need to learn to limit myself. I thought of the next best thing. Making hundreds of paper thin glass cups. When I reached to pick one up, it shattered when my finger grazed it. Perfect.

Persistently, I carried on with this for 30 minutes. Then, I could pick up the glass, clench my hand, and throw it in the air. I caught it without breaking in my palm. After this, I did similar training. It aimed to control my body. That adaptability skill came in clutch. This shit is easy now.

Peculiarly, time functions differently in the Dimensional Gap. These tasks may have felt like they were taking forever, but in actuality, it was the blink of an eye. Leaving the backyard, I made my way to the house, entering and going towards the kitchen. Sure I didn't need to eat anymore, but god I couldn't give up eating delicious meals.

Upon entering, I found Ophis sitting at the kitchen table and inquired, "Why are you here? Curiously, I asked, "I thought you would be happy with your new home?"

All she said was "Lonely," while she kept staring at me.

Given that I am a sucker for the cute kid, I cannot help myself. She was lonely and I've got nothing to do for 500 years. May as well make a Dragon God, my friend. "I'm going to make dinner. Desert will be after. Go wash your hands."

By using my powers, I could have made the meals appear from nowhere. But making them by hand had a distinct satisfaction. Don't be so nitpicky, I materialized the ingredients.

Fried rice was the dish I was confident in, so I grabbed the ingredients and chopped them up. Carefully, I threw them all into the wok and proceeded to add the seasoning. Then, I lowered the heat and tossed until I cooked everything. Ophis came back and sat at the dining table, swinging her legs as she watched the food being prepared. I brought the dishes towards her and we both started eating.

Now that you're in a quiet place, Ophis, what would you like to do?" I was curious about her goals. Did she want to mooch off of me now, or did she want something else?

With some rice stuck to the side of her cheek, she paused her meal, saying, "Friend. I had never had a friend before. Will you be my friend?" she said. God fucking damn my heart. I ain't no simp, plus she looked like a child, but it was the eagerness in her eyes that made me melt. She had been alone for so long and was asking me to be her first friend. I couldn't say no.

Friends, for sure. I'd be happy with that. You already have made yourself welcome in my home, so what's the worst that can happen?" I said, a genuine smile on my face. She would be the first friend I had here, plus I had always wanted a little sister, two birds with one stone.

After dinner, I told Ophis I was going to sleep. Making my way to my bedroom, I altered the appearance of my clothing into some loose fitting pyjamas before jumping into my divine bedding. This is the best, without a doubt. I don't think I could sleep on anything else for the rest of my life."

As my eyes closed, the faint clicking of the bedroom door opening sounded. As I raised my head, I came face to face with Ophis, walking into the room in pyjamas. "What are you doing? In your own house, you have the privilege of having your own bed. "Go there."

"Sleep with you, more peaceful," she said, launching herself onto the bed and getting under the sheet. Realizing her eyes were closing and she was falling asleep, I couldn't voice any more complaints.

"Fuck."
