26 Chapter 25 : Land in sight

Raigo holding firmly the metal bar of a window was hit by a wave that almost swept him overboard.

"Daniel!"

He used the strength of his arm to push himself forward against the strong wind and entered the cockpit.

"Boss! The lightning just blew up our battery!"

The battery is perhaps the most neglected piece of equipment on a boat. Yet it is used to start the engine and power the electronics and accessories.

"It's 1976, I'm sure the boat relies more on the engine than on the battery."

"Boss, we're drifting from our cape!"

Raigo looked at Judi at the bottom of the cockpit who was holding a compass with a serious expression.

"We have to start the boat as soon as possible, Daniel follow me."

Daniel nodded his head and Judi took a toolbox from the cockpit and then went out with Daniel towards the stern.

Raigo wanted to move towards the helm of the boat when he heard a loud scream.

"Karla fell overboard!"

Raigo left the cabin and went towards Husun to the main deck, which was hung on the metal rail at the edge of the boat.

The wind was blowing even stronger than before, Raigo moved forward trying to keep his balance as best he could, the boat pitch under the blows of the waves.

Husun saw Raigo coming and raised his hand and waved to him.

"Karla fell on this side."

Raigo nodded his head and answered him in sign language as well.

"Go help Judi and Daniel."

Husun nodded his head, his aura exploded out of his body, he began to advance towards the stern.

Raigo was slightly surprised, but he did not do the same, for him it was a waste of aura.

He returned to the cockpit, lamenting the loss of Karla, a few minutes later he saw Daniel, Husun and Judi holding the toolbox enter the cockpit with their bodies soaked.

Daniel came to the helm and tried to start the boat.

"Come on! Get going!"

He turned the key again and again for nearly a minute before the impatient eyes of Raigo, Judi and Husun.

Finally he took a deep breath and turned the key one last time.

"Little caseyeur, I trust you."

The engine emitted a muffled noise that discouraged everyone before roaring, Daniel then smiled and hit the dashboard with joy.

"Let's go! Judi give me the course."

Husun reassured sat down on the ground while Judi walket to Daniel, Raigo reassured turned his head towards the main deck. The storm was getting stronger and stronger, lightning struck the water, waves collided, torrential rain fell on the boat.

The boat started to move forward, Raigo, still looking at the main deck, suddenly shouted.

"Daniel stop the boat!"

Daniel, surprised, unconsciously obeyed Raigo's command and ran towards the main deck braving the wind, he slowly came to the safety helm and suddenly caught something invisible.

"Agh!"

He pulled with all his strength on the invisible object, slight ripples spread in the air and then everyone in the cabin saw Karla, fainted, flying in the air for a moment before falling on the deck in Raigo's arms.

Raigo carried it into the cockpit, Husun rushed to help him put it on the ground.

"She's still breathing, must have passed out a little while ago."

Raigo signaled Daniel to move forward, who started the engine again, turned the helm and raised a lever.

The boat moved at full speed through the waves, time passed, the storm continued until the next day, the clouds dissipated, the waves calmed down and the sunlight came to bathe the sea with its light.

"In the end we're done with the damn storm."

Raigo, eating the contents of a tin can, looked up at the sky that was brightening with a smile.

No one had managed to fall asleep, everyone was on edge, he looked at Daniel whose eyes were scarlet red with fatigue before leaving the cockpit.

He took a deep breath and suddenly saw a huge task in the distance.

He removed the wet turban attached to his forehead and saw in the distance with his left eye a gigantic island surrounded by mist.

He began to laugh before exclaiming.

"Land in sight!"
