20 A Little Celebration

'Happy Birthday Kanna Yoshikawa

- From the Mangaka Club and Family'

"Hmm, I think that should do it? So is everyone ready?"

Kozue checked on all the preparations.

"I guess so, Mr. Kiichi and the editor-in-chief is coming as well."

I replied,

"WHOOA! Really?"

Nagi is surprised, I forgot about her being like this always.

"Yeah, it's my father's influence that's all."

I replied as it was obviously all to my father's influence.

"As expected from your father a former famous mangaka."

Nami is done putting all the decorations.

"Yeah right, so all the preparations are ready? I'll call my father to escort our main character here now."

I called my father on the phone.

'Hey, Papa are you guys ready?'

'Yes, we are coming now.'

'Okay, we are ready here as well.'

Then the doorbell rings,

"That must be them? Or Mr. Kiichi and the editor-in-chief"

Yasu opened the door.

"Yes, Mr. Kiichi and Mr. Miura here."

Mr. Kiichi is all in formal attire while Mr. Miura is in his normal outdoor clothes

"Oh, come in we will have a surprise greeting."

"Okay! Boss are you ready?"

"HAHAHAHA of course."

A few moments later,

"Three, Two, One."

A blast from the party poopers and confetti flew all over the clubroom.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY KANNA!"

And so with that, Kanna's birthday party started.

"UWAAAAAAAAAAAH"

Kanna sure is surprised.

"What do you think, do you like it Kanna?"

Fumi lit up the candles on Kanna's cake.

"Yes! Everyone, Thank you very much!"

Kanna smile so bright and her eyes twinkle in joy.

"Darling, pictures! Don't forget the pictures!"

My mother always wants to save such good memories.

"Okay time to sing 'happy birthday'."

Nagi pulled out the birthday banner!

"Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday dear Kanna, Happy birthday to you."

Everyone sang the birthday song and clapping of hands to the beat.

"Hey, Kanna blew out the candles."

I looked at Kanna and smiled cheerfully.

"Okay!"

Kanna shows a smile I have never seen before; her eyes glow in happiness; she shines the brightest amongst all of us. I'm so happy we decided to do this for Kanna.

"Happy Birthday!"

"Happy Birthday!"

"Thank you!"

The group is now divided from adults and the young ones.

"Oh, are you the editor of my son and his friends? Please take care of them."

My father initiated a conversation with Mr. Kiichi

"Y-Yes, Thank you for having me today."

Mr. Kiichi why are you distancing yourself?

"So how are they doing?"

My father asked in a serious tone.

"Well, they plan to win AKATSUKA and aiming to get serialization."

Mr. Kiichi had a brief pause before answering the question,

"I see, well as long as the manga is interesting it can be serialized."

My father repeated those words he said the day he retired.

"Indeed, Mr. Miura told us about your time in SAESHA."

They started sharing each other's thoughts about the current mangas and ours.

"Hey, Happy birthday. Here is our gift, hope you like it."

Nami hand over their gift to Kanna

"Uwaaah, twins, Thank you for the gift."

Sure Kanna is enjoying her birthday.

"Kanna happy birthday, here's your gift."

"Kozue big sis, thank you so much!"

"Enjoy your birthday."

"Yes, thank you!"

"Kanna, here's my gift for you, I don't know which model you'll get so I bought two of them."

"Uwaaa, Poly Cure! Thank you so much, I wasn't able to buy the limited edition. I was despondent that I failed to get it, but you get it for me. Thank you Fumi big sis."

"Your big brother told me about that."

"Yes, he also told me that this is your plan too, thank you!"

"Enjoy your birthday!"

All the girls have presented their gifts to Kanna then the latecomer arrived,

"The school director is here."

Arriving in what in the world is he wearing!

Mr. Miura surprised to see Mr. Hitoshi

"HAHAHAHA Miura!"

Seems like the school director is well-prepared.

Searches the room for the birthday celebrant.

I walked my little sister to Mr. Hitoshi

"Oh, Hi there, here is your gift from me."

Mr. Hitoshi handed his gift it's quite big, I'm curious.

"YEAAAAAAAAAAAAH Poly Cure cosplay set!"

"WHAT THE!"

Everyone stared at the school director in disgust.

"Maybe not a good idea."

Mr. Hitoshi mused while scratching his head.

"Takaeshi, can we talk for a moment."

My father's eyes are on fire looking at his former partner and best friend, our school director.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING?! HUH?!"

"S-SORRY! I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO GET!"

Everyone laughed at these two old guys fighting over a cosplay set, one is defending his daughter and the other is like an old geezer making moves towards the other guys' daughter.

"Kanna, here is my gift for you. It's not that much but I hope you like it."

Yasuyuki secretly handed over his gift to avoid getting in trouble.

"Uwaaa, poly cure game! Thank you so much Yasuyuki big bro!"

That concluded my little sister's birthday party at the studio and now for the main event to the editorial department.

"The editor-in-chief sent an email, they're on their way here."

"Okay!"

We arrived on the fourth floor and the elevator doors opened.

"Uwaaaaaaaaa, so this is the editorial department!"

"Yes, come here I'll show you the office."

Kanna's eyes are looking left to right and amazed by the sight of the posters of the different manga.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY KANNA!"

Everyone in the office greeted her with a big smile.

"Thank you! Whoa, there are so many papers!"

Kanna is running around the office.

"Yes, this is where all the manga's come from, those people are the editors. Their job is to make the manga interesting."

Mr. Miura explained to Kanna as he tours her around the office

"I see, can they draw too?"

"HAHAHA, no they can't if they can. There are no mangaka's around."

"Do you have a copy of Poly Cure too?"

"HAHAHAHA we don't, that is a different magazine but we could ask one for you, which we already did."

"WHAAAA Thank you, it has the signature of the author too."

"Whoa, good going Kanna!"

"Thank you very much, everyone! Thank you for letting my sister tour your office."

"It's okay! We are happy to have her around."

"Are you happy, Kanna?"

"YES!"

"Let's go home!"

"Yes, Yes!"

It was such a happy day for my sister, I'm guessing she'll never get over this for the upcoming month. She will be bragging about this to her classmates like she always does, well I'm just a happy big brother that was able to do something that could make his little sister happy.

"Ah, I'm so stuffed."

"Well, you did eat a lot at the party."

"I'm so sleepy."

"Take a good rest."

"Ah, by the way, Big bro?"

"Yes?"

"Thank you for doing this for me, please tell everyone I am so happy. I will treasure all the gifts they gave me, also please take good care of Fumi, she loves you so much. I have given-----"

I did not clearly hear the last part because it was cut off as she fell asleep.

"Huh? Leave it to me, I'll make sure to tell them everything."

"Kenji, good luck on the awards, bring them the best you got."

"Yes, papa! I won't lose to you either."

"HAHAHAHA you still have a lot to learn to catch up on me."

"Are you challenging me?"

"Yeah, take it as a challenge. Remember I was the first prize winner for that award."

"Yeah, I know, we will surely get the first prize and beat everyone that stands between our dream."

The day ends with my little smiling in her sleep.
