137 A plan unfolding

Eliseline rubbed the base of her forearm, where Dred's axe cut through. She could use her hand without problems, but there was still pain in it. Not an intense one, or a sudden one, just… there. Dim but ever-present.

The pain made her frown, and it was caught by Savine and the latter showed a knowing smile.

Eliseline felt like the angel was misunderstanding something. Then she remembered what conversation was taking place in front of her.

"Here's the promised money," Savine said, pushing a handful of coins into the commoner's hand. "Thanks for risking your life for me."

The commoner drooled at the stack of coins, smiling from cheek to cheek.

"Oh, when that mage raised his Vasa again, I thought I was a goner! But thankfully, you came just when you promised. If you hadn't said that I would be hit by a spell or two beforehand, I would've told them the whole story!"
