43 Chapter 43 - The Hale Family's Inheritance (2)

The knowledge Theodore had received was the first level of the Hale family's bloodline purification technique.

When a mana user cultivated to a high level, they could leave a trace of their power in the bloodline of their descendant.

People who could awaken their ancestral bloodline could gain many benefits ranging from supernatural power and unique understanding to extraordinary physique.

There were simply too many types of advantages a person could acquire.

Nevertheless, awakening the bloodline had three main limitations that made it less prevalent than the standard mana cultivation method.

First, it was difficult; it required a lot of resources and the correct technique for a chance of success.

Secondly, even if a person successfully awakened their bloodline, they could not choose what power or benefits of the ancestor they would acquire. It was completely random.

Last of all, it was almost impossible to cultivate the received gift to the level that surpassed the ancestor.

With these three constraints, the bloodline cultivation gradually lost popularity. Most people preferred spending their time and resources on the mana cultivation method to create a more fitting path for them.

Theodore went through the technique again as he secretly felt a little disappointed. He originally had high expectations of the inheritance he would receive after such difficult trials.

'At least, the bloodline purification technique of the family seems unusual and did not require other resources at the first level.' Theodore consoled himself and thought of giving it a try.

From his understanding of the Hale family's bloodline purification technique, he could slowly purify his blood until it reached the first level of awakening by controlling the circulation of his blood in a rhyme with mana.

In the detailed guidance he had received, there was a detailed step-by-step process of what he needed to do. It gave him the feeling that he could smoothly succeed as long as he dedicated enough time to it.

There were even comprehensive notes about how to practice, what to be aware of, and the various inclusive possibilities of what could happen when a person from the Hale family was trying to awaken their bloodline.

The person who practiced the technique did not need to think much; they only needed to follow the instructions, and there was almost no chance of anything possibly going wrong.

It seemed as if the inventor of the technique hoped that anyone with access to it could practice it as long as their comprehension was not too lacking.

Theodore had read many exercises in his previous life, and he felt that the bloodline purification technique of his family was one of the most practical and uncomplicated ones.

He decided to try practicing the technique until he awakened his bloodline to the first level and examined what gift he gained before deciding whether to continue or not.

After all, according to the guidance, Theodore interpreted that he needed to perform the technique continuously until he refined the bloodline in his body to a certain level.

There was also no requirement of how long he had to practice daily; it just required the accumulation of effort.

Theodore felt that the process was manageable. If it interfered with his practice of the mana user cultivation path, it would be alright to stop later.

Most importantly, his sense explicitly told him he would get one significant benefit that could change his life if he succeeded.

When Theodore finished analyzing and deciding, he slowly let go of his consciousness to awaken himself and opened his eyes.

...

"...Sister Anna??" Theodore glanced around before he tried calling the formation's spirit to ask if she was there or if there was anything else he needed to do.

When Anna heard Theodore calling for her, she hurriedly responded from the monument, "Hey, I'm here."

Hearing Anna's sound, Theodore pretended to feel more relieved. He then acted uncertain, as if he had something to ask, but was unsure if he should say it.

Seeing Theodore acting like this, Anna felt concerned. She hastily asked, "Is there something you want to ask me? Or Do you need my help with something? Sister Anna will help you."

Feeling Anna's concern, Theodore felt his morals hurt slightly and was unsettled.

"I-I would like to ask if there was anything else I need to do," Theodore said with a softening voice.

"No, no more. After you awake the first level of your bloodline, you can come back here for the second level of the inheritance." Anna reassured Theodore.

She then told him the tips she knew about the technique and some suggestions she was allowed to give by her master. Before explaining, she activated a soundproof to surround them to prevent Nathan and the two spiritual weapons from hearing.

When Anna finished, she comforted Theodore again. "Don't worry, you will be fine. Most descendants who could pass the trial had no problem practicing the first few levels."

Theodore nodded seriously to express his understanding.

He then talked more with Anna about what she found interesting, with Anna gossiping about the various topics while Theodore mainly listened.

After some time, when Anna just finished talking on a topic and was thinking about what to say, Theodore took the chance to bashfully and politely said goodbye to Anna. "Sister Anna, I think it was getting late. See you later."

Anna felt unwilling but still let Theodore go, considering that Theodore had been here for so long.

"Goodbye, little Theodore. If you need any help when you are in the mansion, you can call me for help." Anna replied before pausing as if she was thinking of something.

"Even if there was nothing, you can call for me. Remember to call me; I look forward to our next meeting." Anna added with a reluctant voice.

Feeling Anna's sincerity, Theodore felt even more guilty. Even his future self rarely deceived people who were sincere to him.

He silently decided to slowly change his image in front of Anna so that he would not need to pretend in front of her later.

His primary consideration was that he would live in this house and interact with her more in the future.

Moreover, she did not seem difficult to trick into changing her perspective of him.

Theodore contemplated as he returned to his teacher, who was studying the formation. It was much easier this time as Anna created a path for him to walk out.
