Time Travel Goes Wrong

"The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places." - Ernest Hemingway

-

"Are you alright, Master Vince?"

Vince opened his eyes to a cute female voice.

He blinked, and when his sight cleared, he saw the ceiling above with a glistening chandelier and realized he was lying on a soft, cushioned mattress. It felt heavenly.

But wait. He didn't die, did he?!

Or maybe he did, and the cute female voice he just heard was from an angel.

He sat up and looked at his body. He was wearing a long-sleeved linen shirt with a brown vest tucked into trousers, and—boots?

Vince pinched his cheek and winced in pain. Since he felt pain, that meant he didn't die! He looked around and realized he was in a spacious room with intricately designed walls and luxurious furniture, mostly gold and made of expensive wood.

But where did the cute female voice come from? There was no one else in the room. It was four-cornered, and he could see every corner from the bed where he sat.

"Phew. Thank heavens you are still alive."

Only then did Vince's eyes fall on something to his left, perched atop the chair beside the bed.

He jolted in shock when he saw a white cat.

Not an ordinary one, but a white cat with bat wings and freaky red eyes!!!

Oh right. He must still be inside the time machine and dreaming while traveling through time. This couldn't be real, he was convinced. Well, he had pinched his cheek and felt pain earlier. Sometimes dreams felt real, and this must be one of those, right?

"What's with the reaction?" the cat spoke, its red eyes narrowing at him.

Vince backed away until he fell off the bed and rolled onto the floor. He groaned when he realized his back hurt too when he fell. Why did everything feel real? Maybe this was a side effect of using the time machine?

He stood up hastily and only then did he notice his hands. They weren't as thin as he remembered! He rolled up his sleeves to his elbows and found two pairs of sturdy arms. His eyes widened in surprise and delight.

Did the time machine work?

Vince was a 36-year-old on the verge of dying from sickness. His grandfather was a great inventor, and there was this time capsule hidden in the basement for decades. It was an invention that was never launched, so no one knew about it except him. He was the only living relative of his late grandfather.

His grandfather left a big chunk of inheritance, so he never needed to work. Not that he could if he wanted to anyway. Vince got into an accident when he was fourteen, and since then, he had been sitting in a wheelchair.

He was well-fed and lived in a big house, but he had felt alone for a long time. His father died when he was fifteen, leaving him with only the servants in the house. Thankfully, his family had trusted people who took care of him and helped him manage his finances.

Life was easy for a disabled person like him because he had money.

But that was what people thought.

The truth was, he had missed out on many things a person should experience in life. He was homeschooled and barely left the house.

No high school or college friends, no girlfriends, no night outs, no adventures, no sex.

The only thing that kept him alive? The ability to travel. With his money, he could visit different countries and see beautiful sceneries. It helped his mental health in many ways. So, he hadn't killed himself and hadn't thought about it either.

Until he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer at the age of 36.

He couldn't accept that he would just die like that. He realized there were so many things he hadn't done yet. Things he wished he had done despite his disability.

One night, he remembered his grandfather's unlaunched invention. He didn't know it was a time machine until he went to find it in the basement of the mansion. His grandfather had purposely hidden it for some reason, and Vince assumed it wasn't launched because it was a failure.

Vince was so curious that he found a hidden manual somewhere in the time capsule. It was then that he realized it was supposed to be a time machine. He followed every instruction he read in the manual and didn't hesitate to take a leap of faith.

What was there to lose anyway?

No matter what the odds were, he was determined to bet on his luck and see if a miracle could happen.

He wanted to travel to the past and stop the accident from happening so he could have his legs back.

"There is not much time left for the final round, Master Vince."

Vince snapped out of his thoughts. He was back to where he was—standing in a room with this strange breed of cat looking at him. Not to mention, it was talking!

He slapped himself to wake up, but a couple of slaps didn't work. If this was only a dream, why did everything feel real? And why did he have his young body back?

Unless...

The time machine didn't bring him to the past but instead brought him to another universe.

He had read about stuff like that in novels. But if that was the case, wasn't it amazing? He had always liked the concept of going to a different world and living a completely different life. His life lacked adventure, and if he were given a chance, why not?

"You," he pointed at the cat that was now at the center of the bed, sitting and staring at him weirdly. "Where am I?"

"What game are you playing, Master Vince?"

Vince noticed that the cat with the cute female voice kept addressing him as 'Master Vince,' which he found a little odd. She looked like a pet, but at the same time, she wasn't. Her red eyes and bat wings didn't sit well with him.

"You are in Demon City. Have you lost your memory after hitting your head?"

The cat tilted her head and eyed him with a puzzled look.

"They are hosting the Selection this century. Anyway, let's not talk about that."

Vince took a couple of steps back when the cat flapped its bat wings and flew to the bedside table. A golden cup with carved silver linings around its rim was atop the table, and the cat took it with both her paws.

"There is no time, Master Vince. Take this cup and fill it with your semen. The final round of the Selection will start anytime soon."

Selection of what???

Vince grew more confused by the second. And wait—fill the cup with what? Did she just say SEMEN?!

Please take time to read everything below so you'd know what you're getting into!

[Warning: This contains mature content, including gore, lewd language, and other R18 scenes. Don't read if you're under 10 years old. No NTR, yuri, inc*st]

A/N: First, this novel isn't perfectly edited because the author is poor and cannot afford an editor. But rest assured, there's nothing ahead that you'll find impossible to understand. If you want something perfect, this isn't your cup of tea. Adios.

Second, don't expect fireworks and explosions on every page. This is slow-paced, especially at the start, but that doesn't make it boring. This is weak-to-strong trope, so don't go rattling about the MC's lack of incredible powers at the first 50 chapters or so (if you love OP mc just don't continue).

SPOILER: Volume 1 has around 60 chaps and things will pick up from there. So at least read until there before you decide to drop the novel.

The MC doesn't have a hero mindset, but he wants to grow powerful. He isn't very kind, but he isn't heartless either.

Third, don't expect the MC's personality to remain the same as when the novel started. There's this thing called character development. You'll also meet interesting side characters with amazing backstories. (yes, there will be beautiful girls, but do remember it's not tagged as harem. Don't blame me if you end up disappointed).

Fourth, there is a comedy tag, so don't take everything seriously. If you want a very serious story, stop scrolling because this isn't for you. Expect some drama too. (what's life without a little drama anyway? l live for it)

Fifth, my story, my rules. How I built my world and designed my characters is based on my imagination. The rules and types of magic used are created according to my personal preference, and if they differ from how they're typically used in other creative works, don't complain. That's just how it is. Again, my story, my rules.

Sixth, give it at least 20 chapters or maybe 10, then decide whether you like it or not (this isn't a demand, just a suggestion). If you do like it, vote with your powerstones and golden tickets, and leave reviews. You can gift me too, hehe.

If you have questions, comment here. I'll answer them.
