20 Chapter 20

Chapter 20: Two Copper-Rank Adventurers - Part 1

Having safely reached the "Copper Rank," Chloe and I decided to celebrate at our usual hangout.

When we informed the staff that it was a celebratory occasion, they prepared a luxurious meal for us, despite it not being on the menu.

"I wonder if it was good that I came to the celebration?" asked Ange, our opponent in the recent match.

We invited Ange to join us at the celebration. Additionally, Fiene, Ricola, and Ange's partner, Reina, were also present, making a total of six people dining together.

"Yes, I wanted to ask Ange about our movements," I replied with a smile, to which Ange chuckled and said, "You really do move differently from regular adventurers."

"I'm still a rookie adventurer, so I wanted to ask my seniors about various things," I replied.

"A rookie adventurer?" Ange asked in surprise.

"Yes, Chloe has been an adventurer for half a year, but I haven't even been one for a month yet," I explained.

"What!? Is that true?"

Ange turned to the three guild officials present in this gathering with a shocked expression.

Then, Fiene, who was in charge of me, responded to Ange's question.

"It's true. Ange, Jin-san has only been registered for a month. To be precise, it's been about 20 days."

"...Are you kidding? If that's true, then Jin-san's promotion speed is incredibly fast, even among the past adventurers."

"Yes, that's why the guild keeps Jin-san's information top secret. If by any chance this becomes widely known, Jin-san will face various troubles in his adventurer life."

I believe that once I reach the Silver or Gold Rank, I'll be able to avoid some of these troubles, but for now, I'm only a Copper-Rank adventurer. If rumors about me start spreading, well, I'll be in big trouble.

"So, that's how it is... That's why Reina came to talk to me," Ange said, connecting the dots.

"Yes, Ange, you're reliable and won't spill the beans. Well, to begin with, I don't have anyone else to talk to," Fiene added.

"There's no need for the final remark..."

Ange blushed in embarrassment at Reina's words.

"N-No, I meant Jin-kun, not me. Hey, why didn't you become an adventurer until now, despite being so strong?"

"Well, if it's you, Ange, can I tell you? The truth is, I was originally a noble."

And so, I began to speak and explain the circumstances of becoming an adventurer.

"...There were various things that happened. I'm sorry for bringing up unpleasant memories."

"Well, I'm enjoying my life now, so I don't really mind the past."

Angie-san apologized for bringing up the past, and I encouraged her to continue eating by saying so.

During the meal, Chloe and I asked Angie-san about her actions during the exam.

"Jin-kun, it's not like you can only use swordsmanship. But it's still clear that you haven't yet managed to combine magic with combat. When I said I'm going to use magic and fight, you noticed right away."

"...Indeed, I haven't used magic while wielding a sword before, so I thought I could do it at that moment, but it seems I was noticed after all."

"Yes, I think you'll improve a lot in the future once you become better at that technique."

That's what Angie-san told me.

And Chloe was told that she needed to know more about her physical abilities.

"I know that the physical abilities of beastfolk are on a completely different level compared to other races, but Chloe-chan, I believe you have a special talent apart from the innate physical abilities of your race."

"A special talent?"

"Yes, it's your eyes. You mentioned having many scouting skills, right? I think that's also one of your talents, but I believe it shines because of your eyes."

Angie-san told Chloe that her "eyes" were special.

Listening to that conversation next to them, I thought Angie-san's observational skills were amazing.

In the game, Chloe was actually described as having exceptionally good eyes.

Even at night, her eyes could spot distant objects, and she could instantly discern the movements of her opponents, among other things.

"I think by training those eyes, they will become even more useful in your future adventures, so do your best."

"Y-Yes! Thank you very much!"

Chloe expressed her gratitude with a loud voice upon hearing Angie-san's advice.
