19 The World’s Bestest Daddy

"I dunno," Lu Li shook her head and then said with a clear voice, "I am happy as long as I am by Daddy's side!"

Lu Junhan suddenly froze up as he looked into the little girl's beady eyes. He shut his eyelids and smiled to himself.

'This little thing's mouth is laced with honey.'

'I wonder who she learned it from,' he pondered.

The Lu Family's hall was very big. The little girl had a tiny stature, and her steps were equally small. It didn't take long for her to begin to pant.

But she still forced herself to keep up with her daddy. 

She couldn't be a burden to her daddy!

She was here to protect her daddy!

But then, three seconds later…

The little girl tugged on his hand. While panting, she wiped the sweat off her brows. She said to him pitifully, "Daddy, I'm tired, I can't move…"

Lu Junhan spared her a brief glance. He wanted to tell her to find a place to sit down herself.

However, he suddenly remembered the moment when the little girl laid softly on Song Qingwan's shoulder. His eyes went darker, then he looked down at the little girl with beads of sweat all around her face. After a moment, he said muttered under his breath, "So troublesome."

He bent down and lifted the girl up.

It was just like Song QIngwan had said. The little girl was so soft it was as if she had no bones in her body. She felt so fragile that he consciously handled her with utmost care and gentleness.

When the little girl came closer, his nose was filled with the unique smell of a child. It was such a sweet scent.

The man frowned, but he didn't say anything, nor did he put her down.

While carrying her in his arms, he felt something fill up the void that was in his heart.

When Lu Li saw her daddy carrying her, her eyes brightened up and she wrapped her arms around his neck. She smiled so widely that her eyes were barely visible.

"Daddy! You're so good! I love you so much, daddy!"

Lu Junhan snorted coldly, "Apple-polisher."

The little girl's eyes opened widely, "Lili is not an apple-polisher, daddy! You got it wrong! I'm a Koi fish."

"A Koi fish? Have you watched too many cartoons?" The man let out a cold sneer, "Why didn't you call yourself a little princess?"

"Daddy likes little princesses?"

Lu Li didn't really know what a little princess was since there were only little fairies in the Celestial World, but that didn't stop her from becoming his daddy's little lackey, "If daddy likes little princesses, then Lili will be your little princess!"

Lu Junhan suddenly stopped. He had heard too much flattery, but usually, the people who said such things to him wanted something materialistic in return. But for someone to cut straight to the chase…

Looking at Lu Li's clear eyes, he saw only himself in there. He didn't know why, but something in his heart fluttered.

That was the first time that he doubted his unconditional hatred for children. 

His eyes stared into hers. He then pinched her pudgy little cheeks.

It was so soft, it was incredible.

It felt pretty good.

No wonder Song Qingwan liked to pinch her so much.

The man's eyes darkened. Looks like he had to be cautious around that old woman from now on.

"Daddy?" The little girl looked at him with a confused look as she tilted her head to the side.

Lu Junhan pinched her again, before pulling back his hand. He then said calmly, "There was some dust on your face. I've brushed it away for you."

"Really?"

"Yes."

"Daddy, you treat Lili so well!" The little girl lapped it all up. Her face was filled with pure happiness when she told him, "You are the world's bestest daddy!"

"Didn't you say that I was a bad daddy and that you didn't want me?" The man raised an eyebrow and asked, "Why are you calling me the bestest daddy now?"

He didn't know why he couldn't let this question go.

Lu Li then pouted, "That's because daddy didn't want me at first! If you don't want Lili, then you are a bad daddy."

"Then, I am now…"

The little girl said very earnestly, "A good daddy! And the world's bestest daddy!"

When the man saw her praising him like that, he patted her head affectionately. His lips curved upwards slightly into a subtle smile, "At least you know what's good for you."

He could feel the turmoil in his heart gradually settle down.

Looks like this little troublemaker was pretty useful after all!

At least she knew how to sweet-talk someone to death.

And she wasn't really that much of a nuisance.

Maybe it's fine to keep her in the Lu Family.

Song Qingwan let out a cold snort when she saw this whole scene from behind. With a proud look on her face, she said to herself, "I told you so. No mere mortal can not fall for my granddaughter! Not even that boy Lu Junhan!"
